FEATURED ALBUMS

Franklin County musicians have released a number of albums recently. In the coming weeks, we'll introduce several of them here and on the new AAC/WLFE Feature Artist Showcase on radio WLFE.

The AAC/WLFE Feature Artist Showcase broadcasts cuts from the Featured Album on Fridays at 8:40 a.m. on Corey Cranston's show on WWSR-1420 AM. Country albums appear on Matt Henry's show on WLFE-102.3 FM

NOCTURNAL EMISSION

Alternative rock band Nocturnal Emission has a foot in two countries. They were a crowd pleaser last year at Floodstock and their music lives on in an album titled Eve.
The band includes lead vocalist Rich Austin of Swanton; Dwayne McKinney, lead and rhythm guitar of Sutton, Quebec; Garth Levitt, lead and rhythm guitar, originally of Sutton and now living in Highgate; Malcolm Johnston, bass, of Sutton; and Ron Paquette, drummer, of Richford. In the daytime, Austin and McKinney both work in construction. Levitt is a farmer. Johnston manufactures chemical fertilizer and Ron Paquette is a meat cutter.
"Our music is heavy but not fast," said drummer Ron Paquette, "And it has a soulful feel."
They play all original music. Eve of Destruction is a biblical song that deals with the end of the world. The Father Song is a little more upbeat piece that developed when all the band members brainstormed about their individual fathers. "We made one song about all of them," Ron said. "Rich and I wrote 'Trust in Me' about how the music has always been there for us when we needed it."
Here's this week's contest: Pick your favorite single and call it in to Kevin or Mary at WLFE (527-1211). The deadline for entries is tomorrow. We'll tabulate the results and pick a winner from among the most popular entries. The prize is a free copy of Eve.
"We try to portray a positive image," Ron said. Despite the obvious first response to their name, they simply perform at night and like to emit great sounds. Nocturnal Emission's upcoming gigs include a jubilee next month in Burlington and the popular Sunnymeade Music Festival in Cowansville in August. They are writing new pieces and hope to go back into the studio soon.
Eve is available at Jukebox CDs and Pure Pop Records.
