May 10, 2020

The All Arts Council Summer Sounds has neen Franklin County's premiere outdoor concert series for more than a quarter century.
Vermont started to ease the pandemic restrictions this week. Gatherings in homes are now allowed as are small gatherings of 10 or fewer people. But even though playgrounds, and ball parks are reopening, recreational leagues are not allowed. And the 14-day quarantine is still in effect.
We really didn't want to make this decision this early but we remain concerned for the health and safety of our musicians, our music lovers, our social hosts, and our volunteers so the Town of Highgate and the All Arts Council have decided to cancel the 30th annual Summer Sounds concert series for 2020. Summer Sounds will return in 2021.
We thank everyone who has supported Summer Sounds over the past years and those who were planning on supporting this year's series. We're looking forward to working with you in the future.
Stay well, stay safe, and thanks from all of us at the Town of Highgate and the All Arts Council.

"Free" concerts are expensive to stage. The host towns, local business sponsors, and the All Arts Council hire the bands, create the publicity, and set up shows every summer weekend. Summer Sounds welcomes our sponsors of this popular series: Chevalier Drilling, Desorcie's Market, Drummac Septic Service, La Quinta Inn & Suites, O. C. McCuin & Sons, and Ray's Extrusion Dies. These businesses need your support to continue. Please remember to thank the hosts and patronize the sponsors.
Besides the music, food is a big part of the fun of an outdoor concert. Local community groups host each event with special activities, family fun, bake sales, grilled hot dogs, and even ice cream socials to make every Sunday a great family holiday in the park. The AAC, Foster Grandparents, Highgate Methodist Church, and St Paul's Scholarship Committee, hosted the concerts last season. Watch this space for the details.
Summer Sounds concerts will return to our a Town park, on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m., and will stay free. The Highgate concerts are held in the Municipal Park in Highgate Center. The rain site is the Methodist Church in Highgate Center.
