     Franklin County's arts and music gatherings bring new opportunities, gossip, "show-and-tell" and occasional workshops. There are also booked and acoustic Open Mic Nights that feature music, readings, and more from the best new artists in Vermont.

ART ON THE WALLS

ST. ALBANS--The Artist In Residence Gallery features different artists each month. This month, the spotlight is on Cathy Bohannon with embellished gourds, painter and weaver Janice Decooman, fiber artist and painter Annette Hansen, and watercolor painter Lori Niederer.
      The A.I.R. gallery hosts a free meet-the-artists reception with refreshments and a raffle today 4:30 - 7 p.m. The exhibit continues through the end of March.
      The Artist in Residence art cooperative features paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, sculpture, lamps, pottery, folk art boxes, scarves, hats and more by 40 Franklin County and surrounding area artists. It is owned and operated by the artists and sponsors. The gallery on South Main Street is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Click here for more info.


ST ALBANS--The Northwestern Medical Center Gallery hosts painter Rita Myers this month. Ms. Myers is exhibiting gardens and flowers as we look ahead toward Spring.
      The show continues through the end of March.


MILTON--Painter Claudette Eaton is the featured artist of the month at the Milton Artists' Guild MAGical Gallery.


ART YOU CREATE

MONTGOMERY--The Montgomery Center for the Arts continues a Figure Drawing Workshop in the LAB at MCAKeltonHall today at 5 p.m. The workshop carries on every Thursday through December 26. Each week a very groovy group of artists gather to work and socialize.


ST. ALBANS--Twiggs and Once Upon a Rock host Pebble Art this evening at 6 p.m.
      Jean Ferguson picks up a rock or a stone or a pebble and "sees a thousand possibilities." She "shops" for rocks and stones on beaches and shorelines all over Vermont. This workshop will use pebbles, rocks, stones, driftwood and lake glass to create artwork. She provides pebbles, sea glass, sticks, glue, a 5x7 shadow box, guidance and inspiration. Each piece is unique. Call Twiggs to make a reservation if you plan to eat ahead of time. Food and drink also available during the event.

SWANTON--Paint With Watercolors with Mike Barkyoumb at the Swanton Free Public Library on Saturday from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
      Mr. Barkyoumb will lead attendees through three scenes showing several techniques to make stimulating paintings. The cost is$15 to benefit the Swanton Arts Council. Sign up at the Library or email for more info.


IN THE ARTS COUNCILS

ST. ALBANS--St. Albans Community Arts hosts its monthly Community Arts MeetUp in City Hall on Tuesday with a Board Meeting at 6 p.m. and the Creative Meetup at 6:30. The gathering will discuss new and ongoing business, meet new people, and discuss any creative ideas that crop up.

SWANTON--The Swanton Arts Council Art Journaling Group has a new location, at the Swanton Free Public Library on Tuesday at 6 p.m. This month will be experimenting with wallpaper samples
      Meetings will be held at the library on the second Tuesday of every month. Art journals, junk journals, art pages and more are on the table and make for fun for artists, writers, scrap bookers, and more. The group meets to share ideas and to take time to create.


ON STAGE LIVE

Friday
SHELDON--The Abbey continues the new lineup of music for Spring. The Spring Music in the Pub series hosts Chris & Erica on Friday at 7 p.m. The local duo have won acoustic performer contests and have opened for Jamie Lee at Higher Ground. The series continues through April 26.


ST. ALBANS--14th Start Brewing Company kicks off a full month of music with Beer & Beads, a Mardi Gras event with S.A.S. on Friday at the very early 6 p.m.
      Scott Guptill, April Reynolds Begnoche, and Scott Belisle play classic and pop rock songs from the 70s to the 90s. They say they're "a little late on the Mardi Gras thing, but we will use our lateness as a reason to play some fun music and throw out some beads."


Friday-Saturday
ST. ALBANS--Twiggs presents the Modifieds, an indie rock/acoustic trio from Connecticut, on Friday and dynamic singer Sierra Polley & Trevor Contois on Saturday. Shows begin at 7 p.m.

Saturday
ST. ALBANS--The trio returns as the Swanton Arts Council presents Scott Martell with the Anton Umber Trio at the Traveled Cup on Saturday at 3 p.m.
      The acoustic and electric singer-songwriter will play a mix of songs. There will be playful banter, hot drinks, and an intimate musical journey at the coffee shop.


SHARON-- The Seven Stars Arts Center presents the Young Tradition Touring Group on Saturday at 7 p.m.
      This will be the third public performance of material the group has been working on since September, featuring the artist leaders, youth leaders, and members of the 2018/2019 Touring Group. The group includes 27 auditioned players, singers, and dancers mostly from Vermont and surrounding states who learn and perform traditional music and dance, supported by artist leaders Pete Sutherland, Jeremiah McLane, Oliver Scanlon, Addison White, and Mark Sustic.

LINCOLN--Burnham Hall presents the Will Patton Ensemble in concert on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
      Joining jazz/choro mandolinist Mr. Patton are his longtime compadres Dono Schabner, Clyde Stats and David Gusakov with bluegrass, hot swing, funk, and Irish roots with a little rock n roll attitude.
      Admission is $10 for adults and teens, kids free, at the door. Refreshments will be served at intermission.


ST. ALBANS--Nelly's hosts Emoji & Nikki's Big Birthday Weekend on Saturday at 8 p.m.
      Emoji Nightmare and Nikki Champagne throw "rad, queer dance parties." Saturday will be full tilt drag, dancing, and burlesque. Click here for tickets and more info.


Sunday
KEY COLONY BEACH, FL--Lady "A" and The Bluesfuze Duo continues the KCB Community Association's Concert in the Park series in Sunset Park on Sunday at 4 p.m.
      Concerts in the Park are free concerts sponsored by the KCBCA and take place most Sunday afternoons in Sunset Park. Bring a chair or blanket and refreshments. Parking is limited so walking, biking or ride sharing is recommended.


JEFFERSONVILLE--The Cambridge Arts Council presents Cricket Blue at the Second Congregrational Church on Sunday at 7 p.m.
      Laura Heaberlin and Taylor Smith will be joined by three friends from the VSO to perform their version of the American folk tradition. Admission is free. Click here for a preview.


Tuesday
ST. ALBANS--City Hall hosts the Heritage Winds in concert on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
      The woodwind quintet, made up of professional airmen and women, are a part of the Air Force Heritage of America Band. These musicians use the power of music to honor our veterans, inspire pariotism, communicate the Air Force story, and recruit those interested in serving our nation. The program covers a wide array of musical styles. The ensemble embraces the full range of the quintet repertoire. The creative use of ensemble and instrumentation, combined with new arrangements and compositions, ensures a unique concert experience.
      The event is free and open to the public.


MARCH ART DEADLINE

TAP TO TABLE (March 18)--The Sappy Art Show returns to The Village Frame Shoppe during the 53rd Vermont Maple Festival. All maple-themed visual media is welcome, including paintings, photographs and sculptures. Please limit submissions to one per artist. Works will be on display for about a month, and they can be for sale. Click here to pre-register and for more info.


CREATIVE ECONOMY

WILLISTON--SCORE hosts Digital Marketing Strategies for Growth at the New England Federal Credit Union Educational Center on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
      Having a digital marketing strategy is as crucial for artists in any genre as it is for most businesses. Francois Gossieaux will cover how to create a digital marketing strategy, build an easy to execute marketing plan, and evaluate the ROI for your campaigns.
