ST. ALBANS--The BFA St. Albans Theater Company presents Shrek the Musical in a three-day run beginning this evening at the BFA Performing Arts Center. The curtain goes up at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings and there is a special matinee on Saturday at 1 p.m. THE MUSICAL GREEN OGRE
Join Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey as they face dragons, swamps and ultimately themselves on their journey to Lord Farquaad's castle in Duloc. The student driven theatrical presentation has the story, the spectacle, the music and dance of the original motion picture and you get to see Summer Sounds favorite, green ogre Rosie Newton "with funny ears, who smells, belches, has gas, hangs out with a donkey, and lives in a swamp" (and that's a direct quote from Brian Newton).

SWANTON--The Swanton Arts Council hosts a Holiday Paint & Sip at the American Legion Green Mountain Post #1 on Friday at 6 p.m. ART YOU CREATE
It will be a night of friends, laughter and fun as we enjoy painting a sap bucket for your personal treasures or as a great holiday gift. (And make a donation to the SAC and the American Legion at the same time!)

ST. ALBANS--The Artist in Residence Gallery has a new raffle. This month, the lucky winner will receive the ultimate gift basket, a delightful collection of themed and varied gifts. Each new basket is on display in the gallery until the winning ticket is drawn during the featured artist reception on the first Thursday of the month. ART ON THE WALLS
Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10; spend $25 or more in the gallery and get a free ticket.
SWANTON--The Swanton Arts Council Writer's Group will meet at the Swanton Free Public Library this evening at 6 p.m. Members can share progress and join in the discussion about longer projects and anything else about writing, reading, publishing, and more. IN THE SAC

Thursday ON STAGE LIVE
SOUTH HERO--The Blue Paddle Bistro presents Carol Ann Jones in a solo singer-songwriter performance in the main dining room on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Ms. Jones will appear the third Thursday of each month.

ESSEX JUNCTION--On Tap offers Summer Sounds favorite Jenni Johnson and the Jazz Junketeers tonight at 7 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--TNT Comedy is on fire in the back room at Twiggs on TNT Comedy Thursday at 7 p.m. Doors at 6:30.
Stand up open mic goes wild from 7 - 8 p.m. Anyone who wants to try out a five minute set "should know you'll be welcomed with boisterous laughter." 8 - 9 p.m. is the comedy showcase with explosive performances from CarrieRae Pichemel, Jenna Perrapato, and Kathleen Kanz. This is a free show for mature audiences and space fills up quickly; call Twiggs to reserve a table. Make dinner reservations prior to the show since only drinks, appetizers, and desserts will be served during the show.
Next up, Twiggs presents John Geno and Kevin Connelly's popular, Plattsburgh-based The Duel on Friday and the acoustic trio AmerikanaBlue on Saturday. Shows begin at 7 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--Bayside has Just Phil live on Friday at 6 p.m.
Ski Instructor, resort guy Phil Graziano recently appeared on the Vermont House of Rockers an a blues blast extravaganza on LCATV.
Saturday
ST. ALBANS--14th Star Brewing Company present singer/songwriters Chris & Erica on the taproom stage on Saturday at 6 p.m.
They won the 14th Star acoustic performer contest last year and have opened for Jamie Lee at Higher Ground.
ROUSES POINT--Justice goes Road Trippin' to New York at Latitude 45 on Saturday at 9 p.m.
The roof will be raised in their debut at the nautical-styled bar with a lakeside view, plenty of dancing room, and live entertainment.
MONTGOMERY--Celebration of Expressive Arts hosts Bob & Becca's 50 Years Together special event at The INN on Saturday at 7 p.m.
John and Ashley Nicholls, Michael Pratt, and Patrick Murphy are the CEA presenters. The local artists, writers and musicians gather to share original and thought provoking work, curated and hosted by Bob and Becca Cummins. BURLINGTON--8084 presents Love Not Hate with Joe McGinness at ArtsRiot on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Energetic, charismatic and dedicated, 8084 has been exciting audiences for over 30 years as Summer Sounds favorites, Floodstock headliners, and sharing the stage with Aldo Nova, Toto, April Wine, Warrant, Edgar Winter, Blue Oyster Cult, Henry Lee Summer, and more. The dynamic band has lead vocalist and mic twirler Randy Smith; Andre Maquera, guitars and vocals; Frank Barnes, bass and vocals; and Gary Spaulding, drums and vocals. They released their first album in 1987.

VERGENNES--The Vergennes Opera House presents the Johnny Cash Tribute Show on Saturday at 7 p.m. George Richard stars as the "golden-throated" man in black.

ST. ALBANS--Rushmore brings Classic Rock to The Room at 14th Star to benefit Operation Happiness on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Entry is by donation of 10 non-perishable food items or a $10 donation at the door. Or both!
ST. ALBANS--The Eloquent Page has "the sequel we have all been waiting for," Life On A Cliff. Author Stephen Russell Payne will read from and sign his newest book on Saturday at 10 a.m. FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF
This is his fifth book. His book sales raise money for Prevent Child Abuse Vermont, the Lake Champlain Land Trust, area food shelves, and others.
Dr. Payne is a fourth generation Vermonter with an MA-English from Tufts and his MD from UVM. He is a general surgeon and has been a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery since 1988. He lives on an organic farm with his family.
