PASSAGES

Greg Sharrow passed away Monday morning. Mark Sustic's "great friend, supporter and confidant" was 67. Mr. Sustic wrote, "As an educator and leader with the Vermont Folklife Center, he was the guy who could always see further and reach deeper than anyone else at the table. Made so many things possible for Young Tradition Vermont and everyone else around him. The sun does not shine as bright, the spring feels less promising, the sadness sits deep in our hearts."
Mr. Sharrow was the VFC's Senior Folklorist. He held a BA from Oberlin College, a MEd from UVM, and his PhD in Folklore and Folklife from the University of Pennsylvania. He was also the Mellon Graduate Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania and a recipient of a 2017 Governor's Arts award. He was researching the interplay of folklife and personal identity and the role that culture plays in our construction of self.

AllArts.org has moved to AllArtsCouncil.org because an exciting new program is gearing up.
ArtBits News Photo

WNET, New York's public media station, is developing a new multiplatform media network called ALL ARTS (you'll see their splash page on the site now). Our All Arts Council of Franklin County would certainly get a lot of visitors when WNET goes live, but that's not our audience. WNET has purchased allarts.org and we have moved to AllArtsCouncil.org so that both audiences avoid confusion when they launch online this spring. Here's the deal: you'll find the new program at our old address. You'll find the All Arts Council of Franklin County at AllArtsCouncil.org. Bear with us as we get all the links to work -- and email the All Arts Council if you find one that doesn't.

FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF

BURLINGTON--The 2018 Vermont Spring Book, Postcard and Ephemera Fair takes over the Hilton Hotel on Sunday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. with books and collectibles from booksellers across the state.

Meet a bookbinder and see how books are made and repaired. There will be fifty-cent postcards and rare first editions costing thousands, $3 vintage children's titles and rare Vermont maps.
The Book Fair is free and open to the public. The Fair is sponsored by the Vermont Antiquarian Bookseller's Association. Call Donna Howard (802.527.7243) or click here for more info.
