BURLINGTON--Union Station hosts the Northern Vermont Artists Association first Fall show, running from now through October 30. ART ON THE WALLS
The NVAA was founded in Burlington in 1931. Membership is open to all visual artists, working in any medium, who live in the northern half of Vermont. The artists' association is an all-volunteer organization.
COHASSET, MA--South Shore Art Center hosts its annual fall benefit, Art to Table, in the Bancroft and Dillon Galleries on Saturday at 6 p.m. It is a chance to taste, sip, dance, and see what friends and neighbors can create in a feast of botanical art. There will be music, food paired with wine, and tablescapes and an exhibition of members of the New England Society of Botanical Artists. A foodie silent auction and wine pull, too. Live, local music will be provided by The Natural Born Fools.

Thursday ON STAGE LIVE
SOUTH HERO--Carol Ann Jones returns to the Blue Paddle Bistro for a Third Thursday solo show tonight at 6:30 p.m. The Blue Paddle has limited seating and a small bar so call ahead (802.372.4814) to assure a seat.
ESSEX JUNCTION--On Tap offers Summer Soundsfavorites Jenni Johnson and the Jazz Junketeers tonight at 7 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--The Spooky Spooktacular with a million screams (of laughter) and TNT Comedy Showcase continues on the Main Stage at Twiggs on TNT Comedy Thursday at 7 p.m. Doors at 6:30.
Suzan Ambrose hosts open mic. Thursday's show stars Montreal's Rachel Gendron and Emma Wilkie and is hosted by Vermont's charming Denise McCarty. Special guest star Eric Dreiblatt will join this showcase before he heads to the Big Apple next month. This is a free show for mature audiences and space has been filling up quickly; call Twiggs to reserve a table. Make dinner reservations prior to the show since only drinks, appetizers, and desserts will be served during the show.
Next up, Twiggs presents bluesman Arthur James on four dollar Friday and the good time, ragtime, old time string band, Leadfoot Louise, with our old friends Rebecca Padula and Clare Innes plus Fiddle Dan Wyman on Saturday. Shows begin at 7 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--Shane Cariffe has invited his good friend King Arthur Junior to the 14th Star Taproom stage for a night of jams on Friday at 6 p.m. With special guests Fertile Soil, "This is going to be a blowout," Mr. Cariffe said.
Saturday
ST. ALBANS--The eighth annual Blue Jean Ball for Home Health will be held at the American Legion on Saturday evening, beginning at 6 p.m. There will be a dance demo by St. Albans Maple Squares with Caller Steve Desrosiers and dancing to DJ Bobby Cee.
The ball is Franklin County Home Health's signature fundraising event. Community support makes it possible for Home Health to bring the best home health care and hospice to people in need.
The evening of casually elegant fun is going Country Western so break out your best boots and denim. There is a silent auction and a live auction and a chance to win a bottle of wine in the Wine Pull. Santini Catering will provide dinner and dessert. SOUTH BURLINGTON--The Young Tradition Family Contradance Series resumes with caller Mark Sustic and the Woodbury Strings Mega Jam Band at the Schoolhouse Learning Center on Saturday at 3 - 5 p.m.
ST. ALBANS--The Saint Albans Museum and Vermont PBS will screen The Vietnam War in the Bliss Room on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The free event will include a one-hour preview of all ten episodes of the Vietnam War documentary, followed by a panel discussion. FILM

RUTLAND--Chaffee Art Center hosts an Introduction to Permaculture open house on Saturday from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. PERMACULTURE
The event will introduce the principles and practices of permaculture design and show how the Chaffee is incorporating it into their restoration and renovation. Led by permaculture educator, designer and practitioner, Stacey Doll, this open house offers an opportunity to learn more about this regenerative practice that builds relationships, restores ecological systems, and creates resilient communities. It will include a brief introduction to the history and principles of permaculture, the documentary film, Inhabit: A Permaculture Perspective, and a presentation on the conceptual designs created by Green Mountain College students for the Chaffee.

CALL FOR EXHIBITIONS (October 31)--The Monterey Peninsula College Art Gallery hosts six exhibits each academic year. Artists are exhibited in pairs, groups and solo. MPC Art Gallery is reviewing exhibition proposals for exhibits in the 2018 - 2019 academic year. Open to U.S. residency. All media. Limit 10 images. Entry fee. ON SCREEN/IN PERSON (November 20)--Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation's film touring program offers all-expense-paid tours to connect film makers with new audiences across the mid-Atlantic region. Nonprofit venues and arts organizations in the mid-Atlantic region apply to partner with Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation and serve as host sites for the touring film makers. Six films and film makers will be selected to visit five-ten host sites during a tour of two-to-three weeks. Each stop will include a public screening preceded or followed by a question and answer session with the film maker, and a community engagement activity collaboratively developed by the film-make and the local host site. Film makers receive all travel expenses paid by Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation plus a per diem for each calendar day on tour and a stipend from each host site. No entry fee.
