ART ON THE WALLS

JEFFERSONVILLE--The Northern Vermont Artist Association June Juried Show continues Visions of Vermont through June 30. The show has works by more than 50 artist members of Vermont's oldest arts organization on exhibit.


ON STAGE LIVE

Thursday-Saturday
ST. ALBANS--Twiggs presents two Summer Sounds favorites, Rosie and Trevor on Thursday, a Troy Millette Duet on Friday, and the Robin Gottfried Band on Saturday. Shows begin at 7 p.m.
      St. Albans' own Rosie Newton and Trevor Contois are members of the Contois School of Music band and have made their bones as a duo. Mr. Millette has played over 100 shows in Vermont and upstate New York this year alone. A Burlington singer/songwriter, Mr. Gottfried will play originals as well as songs from Steely Dan, Little Feat, Delbert McClinton, Stevie Wonder and more.

ST. ALBANS--The Stragglers return to 14th Star on Friday at 6 p.m.
      BFA's own Eric Bushey, tenor banjo and vocals; Chris Kellogg, guitar, harmonica, and vocals; and Preston Randall, mandolin, harmonica, vocals, and bones will play hot roots, bluegrass, vintage country, Americana, and classic rock with their own spin.


ESSEX JUNCTION--On Tap presents Nightrain Friday evening at 9 p.m. King Me opens the evening at 5 p.m.
      Nightrain has high-energy rocked the Burlington/St. Albans-corridor for a decade with Taylor Arsenault, vocals; Tom Dunn, bass; Eric Halbach, drums; Brad Ravlin, guitar; and Andy Toussaint, guitar and keys.


Saturday
MIDDLEBURY--The 51 Main Cafe presents Carol Ann Jones and Will Patton on Saturday at 5 p.m.


EAST FAIRFIELD--"Vermont's House Band," the Starline Rhythm Boys, will rock the rafters of the Meeting House on the Green for Summer Evenings with Vermont Treasures on Saturday at 7 p.m.
      The Starline Rhythm Boys are a "drummer-less" Tennessee Trio in the style of Elvis Presley's, Johnny Cash's, and Carl Perkins' early bands with Danny Coane on acoustic rhythm guitar, Al Lemery on electric lead guitar, and Billy Bratcher on acoustic upright slap bass. The Boys perform vintage country, honky-tonk, and rockabilly music.
      Admission for all concerts is by suggested donation of $10 per person at the door. All shows support the Meeting House Preservation Project. Refreshments will be for sale at intermission. Call 802.827.6626 to reserve seats and pay at the door. click here for more info.


ESSEX JUNCTION--Get some Backstage Justice as the Pub and Restaurant hosts the band's first stop of 2017 on Saturday at 9:30 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--The Church Street Concert Series presents the Solaris Chamber Choir in St. Luke's Episcopal Church Sunday at 3 p.m.
      The concert includes the choral works of American composer Randall Thompson plus the music of Della Joio and Vermont's own Robert DeCormier. Solaris is a Burlington-based chamber choir led by conductor and director Dawn Willis.
      Admission is $20 for adults or $15 for seniors. Tickets are available at the door and from www.churchstreetsounds.com


MORRISVILLE--River Arts presents Deobrat Mishra in concert on Sunday at 3pm.
      Mr. Mishra is an Indian sitarist and composer and a member of the Benares Gharana school of Hindustani classical music. Admission is $22. Tickets are available here or at 802.888.1261.


NORTH HERO--The North Hero Recreation Committee hosts a Family Dance with Romy and Ben Munkres and caller Mark Sustic in the North Hero Community Hall on Sunday at 4 p.m.
      Admission is $8 for adults; children 18 and under are free.


BURLINGTON--Discover Jazz Festival has Will Patton with Lewis Franco and the Missing Cats at Leunig's Bistro on Sunday at 4 p.m.


FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF

FAIRFAX--The Fairfax Community Library Non-Fiction Book Group discusses The Country Year- Living the Questions by Sue Hubbell this evening at 6:30 p.m.
      This book offers readers an insightful reflection on the natural world and life in general by a beekeeper in the Ozark Mountains. Copies are available at the library. New members are welcome.


SHELDON--The Sheldon Public Library Summer Story Hour begins on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with themed stories, songs, and crafts.


ST. ALBANS--The St. Albans Public Library Classic Movie Night features The Good, the Bad and the Ugly this evening at 6 p.m. The third of the Dollars Trilogy (also known as the Man with No Name Trilogy) is a 1966 epic spaghetti Western starring Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, and Eli Wallach, and directed by Sergio Leone. Films are shown on the 4' by 6' screen in the upstairs conference room cinema. Admission is free, along with popcorn and beverage.
      The Tuesday Night Book Group reads Outlander by Diana Gabaldon on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The first of eight historical multi-genre novels takes a WWII-era nurse through time to 18th century Scotland for adventure and romance. The book group reads a wide range of genres. Books available at the circ desk.


SWANTON--The Swanton Free Public Library has a Vermont Reads Hidden Figures Movie Night at the Library on Friday at 6 p.m. The Franklin Grand Isle Bookmobile will show the story of the team of female African-American mathematicians in NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program.
