June is National Dairy Month! DELIGHT IN DAIRY
The Dairy Festival begins today and continues through Sunday in downtown Enosburg Falls.
The Enosburg Falls Lions club celebrates 61 years of Vermont Dairy Festivals this weekend with more entertainment and magical family activities than ever before. Most of the music and entertainment is on three stages around Lincoln Park and includes Local Talent at its Best to introduce some new and not so new performers from Franklin County. All the outdoor entertainment is free.
The Mooooving Parade starts Saturday at 10:30. With marching bands and mobile mooving murals, it is one of Vermont's largest parades.
All that milk includes some art. The Masonic Hall adjacent to the park hosts the Arts and Crafts show starting Saturday at 9 a.m.
THURSDAY--The Vermont Dairy Festival Scholarship Pageant, this evening at 7 p.m. in the Opera House at Enosburg Falls, highlights the scholastic achievements, talents, and enthusiasm of college-bound high school senior girls in Franklin County. The competition includes poise and appearance, stage interviews, and youth fitness.
The Enosburg Lions offer scholarship prizes ranging from $125 to $750.
Tickets will be available at the door.
FRIDAY--Chris and Erica, Local Talent at its Best, kicks off the free entertainment at 6 p.m. Got Milk Stage.
Hootie hoo! Vermont's #1 Outlaw, Jimmy T. Thurston, lets it rip at 8 p.m. Peoples Trust Band Stand.
SATURDAY--The Parade begins at 10:30. Buddy The Clown will roam the parade route around the reviewing stand, then appear at 12 noon, 3, and 6:30 p.m. Various stages
Ventriloquist Sylvia Fletcher (My Lips Don't Move) will throw her voice at 12:45, 2:15 and 4:30 p.m. Got Milk Stage.
Tom Walsh will tell On the Farm Stories and Song at the Petting Zoo Stage at 1:30 and 5:15 p.m. then an acoustic set on the Got Milk Stage at 7:15 p.m.
Tim Brick returns for a special solo performance at 1:30 p.m. Peoples Trust Bandstand.
Summer Sounds favorite and Nashville recording artist Keeghan Nolan takes over at 3 p.m. Peoples Trust Bandstand
Summer Sounds favorite Troy Millette and Friends on the Peoples Trust Bandstand. 5:15 p.m.
Dark Horse, plays country music at its best on the Band Stand from 8 p.m. right through the fireworks.
The Fireworks will shoot over the mighty Missisquoi at 9:30 p.m.
SUNDAY--Johnny Cash Tribute Show opens the Sunday music with bluegrass at 11 a.m. Peoples Trust Band Stand.
Buddy The Clown juggles fire at 1:30 p.m. Got Milk Stage.
The Green Mountain Barbershop Quartet Show ends Dairy Days 61 harmoniously at 2:30 p.m. Peoples Trust Band Stand.
The men and women of the Enosburg Lions volunteer their time to conduct service projects and raise funds for the local community. They contribute to senior citizens' programs, area school projects, community health services, the Enosburg public library, family assistance and drug/alcohol programs, fire and ambulance services, other non-profit organizations, scholarships, as well as to the Lions International sight and hearing programs. The Vermont Dairy Festival is the Enosburg Lions' primary source of funding for these programs with thousands of man-hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars donated to the community.
The Vermont Dairy Festival midway opens at 6 p.m. this evening. Entertainment on the bandstand starts Friday evening at 6 p.m. and the weekend activities begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday in downtown Enosburg Falls. Admission to the grounds is free and most events are also free.

SWANTON--Want to be a star? SAC will hold auditions for the 2017 Northwest Nightmares Film Festival entry in the Swanton Village Complex on Monday from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Email to participate, to find out the upcoming other audition dates, or for more info. CALL FOR THESPIANS
ST. ALBANS--The Artist In Residence Gallery features different artists each month. This month, the spotlight is on Donna Blatchly, Mylissa Kowalski Davis, Leeza Mossey, and Cindy Griffith. ART ON THE WALLS
Ms. Blatchly makes one-of-a-kind knit and felted hand bags and has expanded her work to include bowls and bangle bracelets. Her pebble art was featured at the NMC Gallery this year. Ms. Davis says nature is a constant inspiration in her work. Ms. Mossey works in watercolor, oil, oil pastel. Any subject that catches her attention may eventually be conveyed on canvas. Ms Griffith has been active in arts organizations and exhibits pastel, oil, and acrylic paintings.
The A.I.R. gallery hosts a free meet-the-artists reception with refreshments and a raffle today 4 - 7 p.m. The exhibit continues through the end of June.
The Artist in Residence art cooperative features paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, sculpture, lamps, pottery, folk art boxes, scarves, hats and more by 40 Franklin County and surrounding area artists. It is owned and operated by the artists and sponsors. The gallery, newly reopened at 10 South Main Street, is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Click here for more info.
ST. ALBANS--Your furry friends are the subject of the 14th Star Paint & Pint at the Brewery on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Artist Jon Young will donate all the proceeds from this very special Paint & Pint session to the Franklin County Animal Rescue. This is the final session for the summer.
SWANTON--The Swanton Arts Council's Barn Quilt Challenge returns to run throughout the month of June. IN THE SAC
The Summer Event Committee will meet in the Park on Monday at 6 p.m. Email if you have ideas or if you would like a task.

ESSEX JUNCTION--On Tap offers Blues Night with the Nobby Reed Project tonight at 7 p.m.

BURLINGTON--The Discover Jazz Festival continues with Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue in the Waterfront Tent this evening at 7:30 p.m. and runs through June 11 with people you know by heart and people to hear for the first time. Look for Will Patton at Leunigs; he'll be there Saturday, Wednesday, and next Friday.

ST. ALBANS--The Parent and Child Center of NCSS present KidFest, a family-friendly summer kickoff, in Taylor Park on Friday from 3 - 6 p.m.
There will be live music, face painting, bouncy house, and snacks. The rain location is St. Albans City Hall.
ST. ALBANS--Wicked Johnny is back in New England for a "Bon-Fire" style show at 14th Star on Friday at 6 p.m.
He'll play a mix of 90s favorites and country.
WHITE RIVER JUNCTION--The Nobby Reed Project plays the BYOB Blues Dance Party at the Briggs Opera House on Friday at 8:30 p.m.
The Briggs is the little theater that can -- and does -- as the home for the performing arts in downtown White River.

ST. ALBANS--Twiggs presents the North Country Trio of Bruce LeClaire, Mike McCorry, and Frank Fedele on Thursday, the Timothy James Connection on Friday, and Ryan & Slim on Saturday. Shows begin at 7 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--Justice rocks the stage to kick off the summer season of entertainment at the new Wooden Nickel formerly Harley D's) on Saturday at 9 p.m.
Melissa Montagne and her husband, John, opened the new family-friendly restaurant last month. On the menu is real poutine with Vermont cheese curds, house-smoked meats, burgers at $9.99, peanut butter pie, cheesecake, deep-fried Twinkies, and more. The pair will buy as much food as they can from Franklin County. Six of the 10 taps are dedicated to Vermont beers.
"This place has amazing food and great atmosphere. Come on down, grab some grub and stay for the party," Gary Greeno said. Justice is Mr. Greeno, vocals, guitar and keys; Rod Bushey, lead guitar; Scott Belisle, bass; and Mike Stella, drums.
ST. ALBANS--The Eloquent Page hosts local writer (and Oleo Romeo singer-songwriter) Tyrone Shaw to read from his book, Bastard Republic, on Saturday at 11 a.m. FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF
These Encounters Along the Tattered Edge of Fallen Empire are a mix of memoir, reportage, history, and travelogue inside two of the defining moments of the 20th Century, the collapse of communism in Europe and the implosion of the Soviet Republic. Mr. Shaw brings his academic "real life" to the writing and his wry, performance voice to the reading.
