ESSEX JUNCTION--The Brownell Library hosts Thomas Denenberg in a discussion of The Wyeths: First Family of American Art on Wednesday at 7 p.m. IN THE ARTS
Mr. Denenberg directs the Shelburne Museum He will offer new perspectives on the Wyeths -- N. C. (1882-1945), Andrew (1917-2009), and Jamie (b. 1946) -- the three painters who have shaped the way Americans view the world.
The First Wednesdays talk is presented by the Vermont Humanities Council www.vermonthumanities.org. The VHC has also awarded the Milton Historical Society a $1,000 grant for "The History of Racing in Milton."
ST. ALBANS--St. Albans Community Arts holds its first meeting of 2017 in the second Floor Conference Room in City Hall on Tuesday at 6 p.m. IN THE ARTS COUNCILS
This is a good meeting to volunteer as artists, merchants, and community members.

SWANTON--The Swanton Arts Council Writer's Group will meet at the Swanton Free Public Library this evening at 6 p.m. Members can share progress and join in the discussion about longer projects and anything else about writing, reading, publishing, and more.

Ed Gagne offers basic instruction for any students preparing for the Junior Duck Stamp Contest at the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon.
Mr. Gagne won Vermont Best of Show three years in a row for the Junior Duck Stamp Contest and brings good basic background with the program. Email Dave Frisque for more info.

There will be a Swanton Arts Council hangout and discussion at the My-T-Fine II Restaurant on Saturday at 7 p.m. It will be an evening of discussing ideas, future plans and opportunities -- and food. Several SAC members be there to hang out, share sketchbook, talk about art ideas, and kick back with other artsy folk. Anyone is welcome!
The restaurant is open and food and drinks will be available to order.

Friday-Saturday ON STAGE LIVE
ST. ALBANS--Twiggs presents Graziano Schofield & Slim (formed from the ashes of Vermont's "Swamp Donkey") on Friday and the trio Bardela on Saturday. Shows begin at 7 p.m.
Twiggs offers Music to Dine By with relaxed music and the arts. They have stages in the dining room, the Window, or the main stage with a lineup of live performances by comedians, musicians, visual artists, poets, and more.

ST. ALBANS--In Good Taste returns to City Hall with culinary delights, handcrafted beer, wine and delicious spirits, and live music by Carol Ann Jones and Jon Sochin, on Friday from 4-6 or 6:30-8:30 p.m. The fun and festive night out includes vendors; all attendees will receive a handy, re-usable shopping bag for purchases. SHELDON--The Abbey Restaurant hosts an evening of dinner and dancing to the rock band Full Tilt as a fundraiser for Chester's Promise on Friday at 6 p.m.
Chester's Promise is a local horse rescue program on Water Tower Road in Enosburg Falls. All animals stay for as long as is necessary to restore them to health and assess his/her needs in an adoptive family. Full Tilt is variety cover band from northwestern Vermont with a playlist of classic to current rock.

HINESBURG--CVU High School Local Legends Concert presents the Will Patton Quartet in the Theater on Friday at p.m. The event is a fundraiser for Responsible Growth Hinesburg.

Saturday
MONTPELIER--The Summit School of Traditional Music and Culture presents the Young Tradition Touring Group at Bethany Church on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. to some heat to Vermont’s midwinter.
The Touring Group will appear as part of the 7th annual Spice on Snow Winter Music, Food and Dance Festival that opens today and continues through Sunday. The Group will be followed by Anna and Elizabeth, a duo from Virginia who will perform old songs and Appalachian ballads.

JEFFERSONVILLE--The Varnum Memorial Library hosts a monthly Open Mic Night and potluck featuring music and comedy this Wednesday at 6 p.m. and on the first Wednesday of each month.
