SWANTON--Area residents will answer that question the Northern Gateway Public Meeting at the Village Office Complex on Tuesday at 7 p.m. WILL THE ARTS BE REPRESENTED IN SWANTON?
This is an opportunity to include arts projects and plan how the cultural economy can drive growth right from the beginning.
The Town and Village are building the Swanton Area Wide Plan to identify ways to revitalize the northern gateway area, a district centered around the intersections of River and Depot streets. Business owners, property owners, and residents can help guide a shared vision of future development of the area. The meeting should foster a discussion and understanding of what is possible from an economic standpoint and then what is desired by the community. The project is sponsored by the Northwest Region Brownfields Program of the NRPC.

SOUTH HERO--The Blue Paddle Bistro presents Carol Ann Jones in a solo show tonight at 6:30 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--The Twiggs Open Mic and TNT Comedy Showcase continues on the Main Stage Thursday evening at 7 p.m.
"It's a NEW YEAR"! and 2017 never looked so good at the Showcase with comedians Annie Mollo, Caleb Teske, and Eric Dreiblatt, hosted by Suzan Ambrose herself. Sign-up begins at 6:30, open mic is at 7, and the showcase is held at 8 p.m.
Next up, Twiggs presents the Chad Hollister Band on Friday and blues from Arthur James on Saturday. Shows begin at 7 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--14th Star Brewery presents Shake The Band at the Brewery on Saturday at 6 p.m.
The Burlington-based group debuted a year ago with a modern twist to melodic rhythm and blues. The band is Karyl Williams, Keys, Vocals; Jesse Agan Guitar, Vocals; Steven Beaulieu Drums, Vocals; and Brad Ohlson, Bass. Come ready to party and dance.
Admission is free.
STOWE--Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center hosts Summer Sounds favorites PossumHaw's official farewell show on Saturday at 7:30 pm.
PossumHaw delivers the drive of bluegrass and the lyricism of folk with stunning vocal harmonies, stellar acoustic instrumentation, and one of the finest female vocalists in the region. Now, after twelve years of performing together, the group is playing its final round of concerts.
Formed in Burlington in 2004, the quintet is an original, authentic group with award-winning songwriting and singing complemented by traditional instrumentation. They tell riveting stories surrounded by harmonizing and old-time musical arrangements. The "brother band" includes Colby Crehan, lead vocals, guitar, piano; Ryan Crehan, banjo, vocals, harmonica; Charley Eiseman, lead guitar, vocals; Pat Melvin, upright bass, vocals; and Steve Waud: mandolin, vocals. They have three albums Madtom," "Split-rail", "Fortune's Name and Waiting and Watching. They have appeared at the Champlain Valley Folk Festival, First Night Burlington, Higher Ground, the Long Trail Festival, and more.
Admission is $20 advance or $25 at the door.

SOUTH BURLINGTON--Higher Ground presents Ty Herndon in the Ballroom on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. Doors open at 7:15.
The Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum country music recording artist makes his Burlington debut for a concert to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Burlington. This event is all ages. Admission is $32 in advance or $35 at the door for that show. All ticket proceeds benefit RMHC.
On Wednesday, they have Black Tiger Sex Machine in the Ballroom on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. Doors open at 8. The Canadian trio is known for the BTSM sound, an explosive blend of heavy electro and bass. This event is all ages. Admission is $17 in advance or $20 at the door for that show.

BURLINGTON--Leunigs Bistro presents the Will Patton Quartet on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
LEAD ARTIST COMMUNITY ARTS INITIATIVE (January 20)--The Artist Project is a collaboration between the MFA and 10 after school community organizations in Boston. Each year the group chooses a different, experienced artist with a passion for community arts to plan and lead a project with children between the ages of six and twelve. WAGING PEACE! (January 31)--The Florida State University exhibition, "conceived in the spirit of Picasso's Guernica," seeks "works that comment on an active striving toward peace in some way.
