FRANKLIN COUNTY--The Big Music Weeks of Summer continue today as some of our friends play multiple gigs. Summer Sounds is taking the weekend off because we have Field Days in Highgate and find shows in Burlington, Essex Junction, North Hero, Rochester, St. Albans, Salisbury, Shelburne, South Burlington, Swanton, and more. BIG MUSIC WEEKS
Today through Sunday, Vermont's finest country fair takes to the fields of Highgate as the 41st annual Franklin County Field Days brings a lineup of the best music, arts and crafts, and of course weeds that Franklin County has to offer. The musical lineup includes great music every day. And it all begins today at noon. FRANKLIN COUNTY FIELD DAYS
Franklin County Homemakers Club will have quilting in the Homemaker's Barn. The Arts and Crafts are bigger than ever. There are "Make and Take" projects every day.
Field Days has headliners each day. Music starts at 4:30 p.m. today as The Fair starts off with Close to Nowhere. The Keeghan Nolan Band brings it home starting at 7:30 p.m.
Tomorrow, Troy Millette opens the day at 11 a.m. Rosie Newton builds up the Main Stage at 3 p.m. and Miss Mizery will light some fires starting at 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Rockin' Ron the Friendly Pirate starts the entertainment on the Main Stage at 11 a.m. The Issac French Band plays the afternoon shift, starting at 3 p.m. Justice hits the Field Days stage at 7:30 p.m. "Get ready to rock with us as we justify Franklin County."
The Nobby Reed Project lights up Sunday morning at 10 a.m., then Missisquoi River Band anchors the stage at 1 p.m. until the Field Days gates close.
Field Days has "One Price" admission of $10 per day for adults, teens, and children over three feet tall. It includes all midway rides, exhibits, and entertainment. Children under three feet tall are admitted for free. A limited number of rides may be available for small children. Parking costs just $1 per car inside and outside of the gate.

ST ALBANS--The Northwestern Medical Center Gallery hosts Anita Michele Parah this month. Ms. Parah designed the new Swanton Police Department patch. She is exhibiting acrylic paintings as well as one work done in soft pastels. The show includes both abstract and representational work. ART ON THE WALLS
The show continues through the end of August.
SWANTON--The Swanton Arts Council is collecting yarn for a special secret pop up art project called "Yarn-Bombing" planned for later this summer. Email for more info. IN THE SAC
Thursday ON STAGE LIVE
SHELBURNE--The First Thursday Concert Series presents Carol Ann Jones in a solo gig at Shelburne Vineyard this evening at 6 p.m. The free show is a chance to hang out, enjoy original music, and try some Taco Truck All Stars. All ages are welcome.
ST. ALBANS--The One Fed Summer Concert Series presents the Tyme's Up this evening at 7 p.m.
The summer concert series has performers under the tents and draft specials every Thursday, rain or shine.
ESSEX JUNCTION--On Tap offers the Nobby Reed Project for Blues Night tonight at 7 p.m.

SOUTH BURLINGTON--Higher Ground continues Northern Exposure with Mike Brewster, Sleep All Summer, Band of Ghosts, and Amaal Abdelrahman in the Showcase Lounge tonight at 8:30 p.m.
This event is all ages. Admission is $6.

ST. ALBANS--Twiggs presents a Troy Millette Duet on Thursday, the Timothy James Connection on $4 Friday, plus Ben the Captain Hook & Dapper Dan on Saturday.

Thursday-Wednesday
BURLINGTON--The Breakwaters Summer lineup continues with this evening, on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and next Wednesday. Bands play from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 6-10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3-6 p.m on Sundays.
Friday
ST ALBANS--The St Albans Historical Museum hosts a Children's Drama Production on the Bliss stage Friday at 7:30 p.m. Sixteen actors from age 7-14 will perform Future Follies/Jarwars and a Mother Goose Make Over.
Camp participants have learned acting, set design, choreography, and prop creation during a week of drama coaching by Bilijean Smith. In its eighth year, the camp draws from a diverse group of young thespians.
Admission is by donation.
SALISBURY VILLAGE--Salisbury's 37th Summer Performance Series hosts a special folk concert with Deb Flanders, Robert Resnik, Michele Choiniere, and Ms. Choiniere's nine-year-old daughter, Isabella Rottler at the 1838 Salisbury Congregational Church on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Admission is by free will donation.
Saturday
NORTH HERO--Summer Tango comes to the Islands as Island Arts presents an evening of music with Jorge Garcia Herranz in the North Hero Community Hall on Saturday at 8 p.m.
The tango is the national dance of Argentina; it combines an elegant reserve and exuberant passion. The Spanish-born pianist will perform the music of Spanish composers such as Albeniz, Granados, and Falla. He often accompanies silent movies and has set music to some of greatest silent movies such as Metropolis, Nosferatu, and Faust.
Immediately following the concert, guests can dance the night away at the milonga thanks to DJ music provided by Queen City Tango.
Admission is $20 in advance and $25 at the door. All profits go to the Island Arts Youth Scholarship Fund. Tickets can be purchased at Hackett’s Orchard and the Green Frog in South Hero, the Back Chamber in North Hero, the Alburgh Public Library, and the Isle La Motte Country Store, or from . ROCHESTER--The Rochester Rec Committee presents Yankee Chank in the Summer Park Series on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday
BURLINGTON--Young Tradition Vermont presents Cajun and Creole fiddler David Greely at the Burlington Violin Shop on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Admission is $20. Email for reservations and more info. "Seating is very limited so please reserve in advance," Mr. Sustic said.
Wednesday
ST. ALBANS--Fresh from Field Days, the Rosie Newton Band continues the Downtown Summer Concert Series in the E.A. Loomis Bandshell in Taylor Park on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The Road Grill BBQ serves food at all of this year's Summer Concerts Series events.
Admission is free.
SWANTON--The Citizens Concert Band performs in the Swanton Village Park on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Under the direction of Jeremy Berger, the Band seats about 45 musicians in all ages from high school soloists to working professionals. Vocalist Claire Chevalier Hungerford studied at Crane School of Music and is renowned for her role in Counterpoint.

Young Tradition Vermont is recruiting members for the 2016/2017 Touring Group season, which includes a performance/cultural tour of Cape Breton in April. Most group members are in their teens (turning 13 or 20 by May 2017), though YTV continues to consider exceptions for slightly younger or older members. The Vermont Youth Orchestra Discovery Strings Day Camp runs August 8-12th from 8:30 a.m.-12 noon each day. The Camp accepts young string players entering grades 1-5 with at least 1 year of experience on an instrument. Led by multiple "Teacher of the Year" winner Kathleen Kono, each half-day session includes musical and non-musical activities. The week culminates in a Friday afternoon performance for students' friends and families at the Elley-Long Music Center. Tuition is $175; Financial Aid is available.
