ST ALBANS--The Artist In Residence Gallery features different artists each month. This month, the spotlight is on Longina Smolinski, Toby Fulwiler, and Peter Bartlett with the first featured artists opening reception today from 4:30-7:30 p.m. ART ON THE WALLS
The reception includes refreshments and a raffle. The exhibit continues through the end of May.
The Artist in Residence art cooperative features paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, sculpture, lamps, pottery, folk art boxes, scarves, hats and more by 40 Franklin County and surrounding area artists. It is owned and operated by the artists and sponsors. The gallery, newly reopened at 10 South Main Street, is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Click here for more info.
SWANTON--The Swanton Arts Council's first Youth Art Show, Spring into Creativity, takes over the Swanton Village Complex with an opening reception tomorrow from 6-8 p.m. The exhibit will be open Saturday from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. IN THE SAC
The show showcasing all artists from Kindergarten to Age 20

SWANTON--Swanton Arts Council hosts an Artists' Gathering in the Swanton Public Library every Wednesday in April and May from 6-8 p.m. All mediums and crafts wanted.
Bring your own supplies (including drop cloth) and plan to clean up after yourself.

FAIRFAX--The Fairfax Community Theater summer production of Romeo & Juliet is holding April auditions for actors, dancers, sword fighters, and crew at BFA-Fairfax. Auditions began last night and continue today and Friday from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m THESPIANS NEEDED

ESSEX JUNCTION--End Spring Break with Justice On Tap on Friday night at 9:30 p.m. With Gary Greeno, lead vocals; Scott Belisle on bass and backup vocals; Rod Bushey, lead guitar; Mike Stella, drums; and Scott Guptill, rhythm guitar and backup vocals; Justice will party with Paddy fresh off the white beaches, they will rock into the month of May.

ST. ALBANS--Twiggs presents Troy Millette tomorrow evening and Deja Nous in the Window on Saturday. Both start at 7 p.m.
Singer/songwriter and funny guy Troy Millette's energetic live performances draw on his repertoire of contemporary and retro cover tunes plus his catalog of original material. Deja Nous, with lead vocalist Jean-Jacques Psaute, performs the popular and jazz songs in the "Music Hall" tradition of French Cabaret.

ONLINE--The Vermont Youth Orchestra opened its online fundraising auction on Sunday with treats, Mother's Day, graduation, or wedding gifts, and more. CREATIVE FUNDRAISING
The items available include original artwork and prints, jewelry, and linens, or the excitement of stand-up paddleboarding, the Jay Peak Pump House, rock climbing at Petra Cliffs, and the Regal Gymnastics Academy. They have gift certificates from restaurants and grocery stores, massages after the ninja practice, plus the Birdfolk Collective or Chef Contos Kitchen & Store, as well as themed baskets for gardening, science, grilling, spas, and camping and the great outdoors.
Each year, the VYO gives away about $40,000 in financial aid to assure that all students have access to the orchestras, choruses, and summer camps. The VYO goal is to raise $10,000 to support that financial aid program.
All proceeds from the auction provide financial aid for their orchestras, choruses, and summer camps.

ST. ALBANS--The Eloquent Page hosts Walt McLauglin to discuss and sign his newest book, The Impossible Cosmos: A Year of Cosmology and Big Questions on Saturday at 1 p.m. FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF
Speculative philosopher Walt McLaughlin takes us on an trip through ancient beliefs and present-day facts, all leavened by his own direct observations of celestial objects through his 4.5" telescope in his backyard. The book is his "narrative of one man's backyard discoveries, as well as a grand tour of cosmic phenomena and the questions they compel us to answer."
Mr. McLaughlin lives in St. Albans with his wife Judy and his German Shepard, Matika. He also runs the small press, Wood Thrush Books. His previous books include Forest Under My Fingernails: Reflections and Encounters on the Long Trail, Arguing with the Wind: A Journey Into the Alaskan Wilderness, and more.
