BIG MUSIC WEEKS
I'M A LITTLE BIT COUNTRY
--Drummac Septic Service, the All Arts Council, and the Town of Highgate continue the 25th Summer Sounds at home in Highgate with Mark LeGrand and the Lovesick Band featuring Sarah Munro on
Sunday at 7 p.m.Each concert will bring back a group that played the first decade of this popular series. We introduced a country band from central Vermont in 1996:
This American Roots singer-songwriter will surprise us all.
Mark LeGrand has a repertoire of contemporary original songs drawn on traditional themes. The Lovesick Band is Sarah Munro, vocals, Dan Haley, guitar and vocals, Matt Caminsky, bass, Kevin Morrison, drums, and Mr. LeGrand on guitar and vocals. Influenced by Hank Williams, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson, his work offers a refreshing blend of originality, authenticity and style.
The Appalachian mountains are home to a variety of popular musical genres including roots, bluegrass, country, folk, and old-timey. Mr. LeGrand has incorporated these styles into his own brand of music. In 2002 he received the Onion River Arts Council Great Performances Award in recognition of dedicated leadership and outstanding artistic contributions to promote the arts and enhance the quality of life in Central Vermont. His CD All Dressed Up, made the top ten list in both the Burlington Free Press and Seven Days. The critically acclaimed Mischievous Angel and All Dressed Up enjoy air play in Holland, Ireland, Australia. South America, Canada, and in this country. He lives and makes music in Montpelier.
Just before the concert, stop by for Dessert in the Park at the Foster Grandparents Summer Sounds social starting at 6:30 p.m. The social hour is a chance to visit with friends, enjoy tall tales, and to eat sweet finger foods.
The Summer Sounds concerts are sponsored by the Town of Highgate and the All Arts Council, and underwritten by Chevalier Drilling Co Inc, Desorcie's Market, Drummac Septic Service, O. C. McCuin & Sons, and Ray's Extrusion Dies Tubing.
The community based All Arts Council brings the performing arts to northwestern Vermont. The concerts are always on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m., always in a town park, and always free. THE "O" SHOW RETURNS
Nashville recording artist, high energy entertainer, and area favorite Jay Taylor is back for his fourth year. He will cap the evening with a mix of powerful covers and popular originals. He will also extend the Guitar Extravaganza Supergroup with special guests Keeghan Nolan and Jamie Lee Thurston.
The all-afternoon/evening event to honor the legacy of music teacher Brooke Ostrander (Mr. O) starts with a Pre-Show concert featuring local, regional and national artists.
The "O" Show is an annual concert event that was started to honor the legacy of music educator Brooke Ostrander. This single ticket event will get you access to hours of music all while helping Donate Life VT raise awareness and support organ and tissue donor families. The family friendly event will include a number of Mr. O's alumni. There will be a cash bar and BBQ provided by The Abbey Group starting early evening. Click here for more info.
ART ON THE WALLS
Materials will be provided but SAC encourages artists to bring their own markers, crayons or colored pencils. Journals will be available to purchase or you may bring your own. The workshop is first-come first-served and pre-registration is required.

ON STAGE LIVE
SOUTH HERO--Snow Farm Vineyard presents Nobby Reed Project in the Summer Concert Series this evening at 6 p.m.
The live music series presents most genres from classical to jazz to swing to bluegrass to classic rock. Concerts are held every Thursday evening from June to September. All concerts are free and tickets are not required.

ST. ALBANS--Justice rocks the One Fed Summer Concert Series courtyard this evening at 7 p.m.
The summer concert series has performers under the tents every Thursday, rain or shine.

ST. ALBANS--Twiggs presents three nights of music with Isaac and Dominic French this evening, Sean Casey in the Window on Friday, and MacKenzie/Delaney/Slim rounding it out on Saturday, all at 7 p.m.
Harmonica player/singer Bob MacKenzie, bassist Walt Delaney, and guitarist Missisquoi Slim play a broad range from Muddy Waters to the T-Hip. They'll be cooking Saturday night.

ST. ALBANS--The Downtown Summer Concert Series presents Keeghan Nolan in the E.A. Loomis Bandshell in Taylor Park on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
The concert is free. Local dishes from Foggy Brook Farm and Farmer Brown will be available.
ENOSBURG--The Opera House at Enosburg Falls Rock Camp presents Rock Out the House on Friday at 7 p.m.

SOUTH BURLINGTON--CityFest 2015, a South Burlington 150th anniversary event, presents the CSM Band in the Veterans Memorial Park Band Shell on Dorset Street on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Contois School of Music Band members include Rosie Newton of St. Albans, vocals; guest musicians Christopher Peterman, sax, Lloyd Mitchell Duggar, trombone; Kevin Avery, trumpet; and Musical Director Dave Contois, Keyboards.

MONTGOMERY--The Friends of the Montgomery Town Library and the Montgomery Historical Society present Woods Tea Company in concert in Pratt Hall on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The New England trio plays smooth sea shanties, folk songs, Celtic tunes, and rowdy Irish drinking songs with Pete Sutherland, Patty Casey, and Howard Wooden.
Admission is $15 and only a limited number of tickets will be sold. Tickets are available at Lutz' Automotive, the Montgomery Town Library, and the door.

CALAIS--The 17th Annual Calais Folk Concert, Heirloom: Passing the Music
on
to
the Next Generation, presents Michele Choiniere with her eight-year-old
daughter Isabella in the Old West Church on Sunday at 4 p.m.
This year's concert showcases Vermont performers
passing the music on.

VOLUNTEERS!
We need volunteers for everything: postering, fundraising, parking, gate, food, wrangling, and park cleanup, and cake.
Highgate was the original home of Summer Sounds and we're having this bonanza in part to say "thank you!" The purpose is raise money to build a band shell in Highgate and anything "extra" will go to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta.
The Summer Sounds Festival and Fundraiser Concert will take over the Field Days site with continuous music on Sunday, September 20, the last day of summer! Email the All Arts Council for more info.
