ST ALBANS--The Northwestern Medical Center Gallery hosts Linda Wirts in a solo show this month. Ms. Wirts has two new watercolors in her exhibit. ART ON THE WALLS
She paints with a lot of color. "I love purple," she told me several years ago. "And I resonate with the water in the watercolors." She has studied with three Vermont watercolorists: Larry Goldsmith, Jeanne Carbonetti, and Kathleen Berry-Bergeron. She also earned a Masters in Liberal Arts in Santa Fe but returned to Vermont because, in the desert, she missed the water.
The show continues through the end of May.
ENOSBURG--The Opera House at Enosburg Falls has announced its summer musical, Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's Merrily We Roll Along. Auditions will be held Wednesday, May 13, at 6 p.m. CALL FOR THESPIANS
Based on the 1934 play of the same name by Kaufman and Hart, Messrs. Furth and Sondheim updated their production to cover the time 1957-1976. They tell the story of Broadway composer Franklin Shepard who has now abandoned his songwriting and his friends to produce Hollywood movies. Like the play, the musical is told in reverse time starting at the pinnacle of his Hollywood fame and moving through each milestone of their personal and professional lives. The chorus sings reprises of the title song to transition the scenes.
There are several large roles for men and women plus roles for chorus members. The auditions will consist singing, readings, and dance. If you cannot make this time, call Em Frappier at the Opera House (802.933.6171) for more info or to schedule a different time.
Thursday ON STAGE LIVE
ESSEX JUNCTION--On Tap offers Blues Night with the Nobby Reed Project tonight at 7 p.m. Vermont's own blues trio includes Eric Belrose, percussion, Ray Bushey, bass, and Mr. Reed on lead guitar and vocals.

Friday and Saturday
ST. ALBANS--Twiggs presents MacKenzie/Delaney/Slim on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Troy Millette on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The trio includes harmonica player/singer Bob MacKenzie, bassist Walt Delaney, and guitarist Missisquoi Slim playing a broad range music ranging from Muddy Waters to the T-Hip. Singer/songwriter Troy Millette has gone from "Young Gun" status to seasoned, energetic live performer who mixes contemporary and retro cover tunes with a large repertoire of original material.

Saturday
MILTON--The North Country Saloon presents A&M Live rocking it Saturday Night at 8 p.m. with Aaron Bachelder on guitar and Melinda Lussier on piano. The dynamic rockers jam a mix of classic rock like Smoke on the Water to modern tunes like Royals by Lorde, Collective Soul as well as some originals.
ESSEX JUNCTION--Rock Out with Your Mom Out as Justice takes over Backstage Pub and Restaurant on Saturday at 9:30 p.m.
Gary Greeno, lead vocals; Scott Belisle on bass and backup vocals; Rod Bushey, lead guitar; Mike Stella, drums; and Scott Guptill, rhythm guitar and backup vocals have had a month off and are "all rested, [ready to] hit the stage to rock all of you and the Mom's out there in a pre-Mothers Day celebration fit for the best Moms in the world."
All Weekend
It is Young Tradition Weekend with dances, performers, and contests spread over three days.
SHELBURNE--Queen City Contras with caller Quena Crain and musicians Audrey Budington and Clayton Clemetson take over Shelburne Town Hall Friday at 8 p.m. There will be a brief pre-dance lesson just before the regular dance starts.

BURLINGTON--The Young Tradition Weekend Showcase Contest with $2,000 in prizes will be held at Waterfront Park on Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The Instrument Petting Zoo will also be available during Kids Day. Instrumentation is acoustic and repertoire is folk/traditional.
After the contest, Young Tradition will host an awards reception with free pizza and several performances in the Film House at Main Street Landing. Performers will include 2014 Contest winner Eric George and Audrey Budington and Clayton Clemetson, and a feature set by Irish musicians and past YTV participants Anthony Santoro and Geordie Lynd.

SHELBURNE--Sunday is Mom's Day Out at the Shelburne Museum as Fiddleheads for Family Day and others perform from 12 noon-4 p.m.
The Opera House at Enosburg Falls is again partnering with Dick Wright Ford for the Drive4UrCommunity "fun"draiser. For every car that is test driven by a household, the Opera House receives $100. It's a low pressure opportunity to test drive a Ford and help out the historic art center of Franklin County. DRIVE4URCOMMUNITY
RICHFORD--The AA Brown Library hosts Ron Krupp, author of The Woodchuck Returns to Gardening, on Saturday at 11 a.m. FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF
The book takes readers into a world of vegetables, berries and fruit with stories, history, and observations from the "Garden Patch."
ST. ALBANS--The St. Albans Public Library hosts Tech Support Saturday at 10 a.m. with one-on-one tech support from volunteers from Technology for Tomorrow. Bring your devices and questions.
The Tuesday Night Book Group has a special book and movie discussion planned around the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel by Deborah Moggach on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The group will watch the movie and discuss the book that centers on the lush stories of the inhabitants of that old age home.
SWANTON--The Traveling Storyteller jumps the stacks into the Swanton Free Public Library on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
They will perform the Hill Family, a strange family that has moved into the neighborhood. They paint their house yellow when everyone else paints their house white. Young Seth has a pet skunk and his grandfather picks through everyone's trash. What are they all up to?
The library Teen Advisory Board is holding a raffle to benefit the Summer Reading Program. Tickets are available at the library.
