The Vermont Maple Festival is over for the year and the team has already started planning for the big 50th Anniversary next year. HAPPY SPRING
Meanwhile, the Vermont Maple Festival is over for the year and it probably won't snow again for a while.
ENOSBURG FALLS--The Artist In Residence Gallery features different artists each month. This month, the spotlight is on student art, featuring students from seven local schools -- Bakersfield Elementary, Berkshire Elementary, CHCC, Enosburg Elementary and High Schools, Montgomery Elementary, and Richford Elementary and High Schools. ART ON THE WALLS
The A.I.R. gallery hosts a free meet-the-artists reception with refreshments on Sunday from 1 - 3 p.m. The exhibit continues through the end of May.
The Artist in Residence art cooperative features paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, sculpture, lamps, pottery, folk art boxes, scarves, hats and more by 45 Franklin County and surrounding area artists. It is owned and operated by the artists and sponsors. The gallery, located at 321 Main Street, is open Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. plus the first Sunday of each month, noon to 5 p.m.
BURLINGTON--First Friday Art is May Day, Friday from 5-8 pm.
There are openings and events in the Old North End, on the Waterfront, Downtown, in the South End Arts District, at the University, and more. Amd the workers are revolting as the annual Red Square employee art show opens on the Church Street Marketplace.

Friday ON STAGE LIVE
ENOSBURG--The Opera House at Enosburg Falls hosts a Contra Dance with Lausanne Allen and music by the High as Hill String Band on Friday at 7 p.m.
All ages and abilities are welcome and no prior dancing experience is necessary. Lausanne Allen will teach and call the dances; the string band includes David and Latimer Hoke, Maddy Hejna, Dara Weiss, and more. Bring a partner, multiple partners, or meet one at the dance.
Admission is by a suggested donation of $10 per person, $30 for families at the door. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Young Tradition Vermont’s Tom Sustic Fund.

ST. ALBANS--The Twiggs begins with Vern Colburn tickling the ivories In The Dining Room on Friday starting at 5:30 p.m. Then Sean Jarvis and Bill Masse rock the restaurant on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and Kyle Woolard opens the Dining Room at 8 p.m. Mr. Woolard is frontman of American post-pop band The Anatomy of Frank, now performing intimate solo concerts around the globe
Twiggs offers Music to Dine By with relaxed music and the arts every week. They have three stages with live piano, violin, or light guitar any day of the week in the dining room, the Window, or the main stage. The Cabaret offers live performances by musicians, visual artists, poets, and more. Piano Night is every Monday night at 6 pm. The regular Open Mic Night repeats next Wednesday and on the first Wednesday of every month. Their Open Comedy Night for comics 18 and older is held on the third Tuesday of every month. Vern Colburn is Live on the Piano on Friday Nights, Dayve Huckett on the guitar on the first and third Saturday, and additional performances by Abby Road, Bobby Cee, Mint Julep, Sean Ashby, and Sean Casey.

JOHNSON--The Landmark Tavern offers an evening of "vintage eclectic" with the Bluerock Boys on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
The power duo has grown substantially with Cliff Crosby, acoustic guitar, harp, and vocals; Ted Crosby, tenor sax and vocals; Sabina Perkins, vocals and percussion; and Eric Bushey, electric guitar, tenor, banjo, and vocals; bring strong instrumental arrangements, creative improv, and tight harmonies to the stage. They have a sound and style that transcends genre as they add their own special twist to everything from classic rock to classic country.
KEY WEST--Grand Funk Railroad will headline the annual Keystock Music Festival on the Truman Waterfront on Saturday.
Formed in 1969, the American blues rock band was at the forefront of rock history. During its early years Grand Funk played the Atlanta Pop Festival, Madison Square Garden, London's Royal Albert Hall, and Shea Stadium. They have earned 13 gold and 10 platinum records. The current make up features founding members Don Brewer, drums and vocals, and Mel Schacher, bass, plus lead singer Max Carl from 38 Special, Tim Cashion, keys, from Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, and hard rock guitarist Bruce Kulick from KISS.
Opening the festival will be Liza Jane Catana & the Unknowns and "trop rockers" Howard Livingston and the Mile Marker 24 Band. Mr. Livingston and his band are best known for Blame It On the Margaritas and Livin' On Key West Time and for the Johnson outboard motor "blender" they use to mix margaritas on stage during performances.

BURLINGTON--The Vermont Youth Orchestra performs its final concert of the season on the Flynn MainStage on Sunday at 3 p.m.
The program will celebrate Vermont and set the stage for the VYO's trip to Iceland in June. It features the Vermont premier of Brian Baxter's Roots Run Deep. The composer and Vermont native's piece is a tribute to his grandfather and to his connection to his Northeast Kingdom farm. Jon Leifs' Icelandic Dances, Carl Nielsen’s Saga Drøm, and Aaron Copland's Billy the Kid round out Music Director Jeffrey Domoto's program.
The VYO will award the Hermance Prize and the Weathers Scholarship, as well as honor graduating seniors.

MORRISVILLE--Moog's Place has "live music every night we're open, starting between eight and nine pm" with open mic night scheduled most Thursdays at 8:30 p.m.

FAIRFAX--Fairfax Community Theater Company holds The Rocky Horror Show Auditions, Day 1 at BFA-Fairfax this evening at 5:30 p.m. CALL FOR THESPIANS
Richard O'Brien's musical (he wrote the music, lyrics and book) is a humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the 1940s through 70s. It tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a mad transvestite scientist unveiling his new creation, a muscle man named Rocky Horror. The cast has roles for six men five women, and one or two creations. More or less.

ST. ALBANS--NMC and Vermont PBS present the Ken Burns/Barak Goodman film, Cancer, The Emperor of All Maladies, in NMC's Green Mountain Room on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. FILM
A 30 minute excerpt of the documentary will be followed by a panel discussion with Dr. Dennis Sanders of the VT Cancer Center, David Cranmer of the VT Cancer Survivor Network, Dr. Mary Woodhouse of Associates in Surgery, and Christina Latson of NMC Oncology and Palliative Care.
The Emperor of All Maladies is PBS' three-part, six-hour series. This "biography" of cancer documents the single disease from its first cited appearances thousands of years ago through the battles in the 20th century to cure, control and conquer it, to our new and unexpected understanding of how cancer works. That knowledge may usher in an era in which cancer could become a chronic or curable illness.

ST. ALBANS--The next St. Albans Free Library Strategy for Success Seminar is Using Social Media to Expand Your (Art) Business this afternoon at 4 p.m. MARKETING
This is the (marketing) age of Facebook profiles and pages, hashtags, Twitter, Instagram and Pintrest. This workshop will show where to start and how to use social media to brand your ART business with a look at engaging your audience, building social media skills, and strategies that are fun and cost-effective. Presenter Dorey Demers is the Coordinator for Rise Vermont.
