The Friends of the Opera House present Prydein in their first appearance at the Opera House on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The St. Patrick's Day themed season opener will be family friendly. KILTS ON THE RUN
The Celtic bagpipe rock band features music teacher Aron Garceau who is still hopeful that he will be forced to take over the guitar work for Jimmy Page on Stairway to Heaven in a Led Zeppelin reunion concert. Piper Iain Macharg's dream is to be forced to take over Gordon Duncan's pipes to play Maggie's Pancakes and Dancing Feet in a Tannahill Weavers concert. Piper Dan Houghton also plays flutes, bouzouki, mandolin and more. Bassist Andy Smith fell for the tall tales. Drummer Caleb Bronz refused to explode. Messrs. Houghton, Smith, and Bronz all apparently dreamed they would be forced to wear kilts in a Prydein concert.
14th Star Brewing will pour libations for the rocking concert.

ST. ALBANS--Twiggs presents St. Albans natives Isaac and Dominic French on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. They have a mixed style of blues, pop, hip hop and rap.
On Saturday solo singer/guitarist, Robert Young takes to the window to perform his favorites from artists such as The Band, Eric Clapton, Dire Straits and Tom Petty as well as some more recent material from Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers and Phil Phillips.

ESSEX JUNCTION--Justice keeps their rock On Tap for the Pre- St. Patrick's Day Hootenanny on Friday night at 9:30 p.m. With Gary Greeno, lead vocals; Scott Belisle on bass and backup vocals; Rod Bushey, lead guitar; Mike Stella, drums; and Scott Guptill, rhythm guitar and backup vocals; Justice will party with Paddy.

ENOSBURG--Eats N Beats returns to Eats of Enosburg with an Irish themed menu in celebration of St Patrick's day this Saturday at 6 p.m. Cindy and Jim Weed and Pat Murphy, the Missisquoi Ireland River Band, will play bluegrass inspired originals to inspire dining and great conversation.
Everyone is Irish this weekend so the menu includes Guinness Cheese Dip served in Irish Soda Bread to start. Diners will have to choose between Corned Beef, Guinness Beef Stew, or Irish Fish Cakes for the main course. And for dessert try Mary's Donut Cheesecake and a Guinness Chocolate Cake with Bailey's Irish Cream Filling.

LINCOLN--The Burnham Music Series hosts the Will Patton Ensemble playing gypsy jazz in Burnham Hall on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Music Series hosts a lineup of Vermont acoustic artists who have performed original music throughout Vermont and beyond. The ensemble is Mr. Patton, David Gusakov, Dono Schabner, and Clyde Stats.
"It's a great music series in a wonderful room," Mr. Patton said.

ST. JOHNSBURY--Catamount Arts presents its March Free Bluegrass Jam Night with Summer Sounds favorites Bob Amos & Catamount Crossing as hosts and special guests Carol Hausner and John Gibbons at the Catamount Arts Center on Saturday at 7 p.m.
This is an evening with marvelous singer/songwriters who play traditional, contemporary, and original bluegrass, country, and folk music. An award winning writer from Montpelier, Ms. Hausner brings "pure, heartfelt singing" and unforgettable harmonies to her shows at festivals and community gatherings alike. She won First Place at MerleFest with co-writer Colin McCaffrey for Love Gone By. Mr. Gibbons of Georgia sings, plays guitar, and writes songs in a Trio with Karen McFeeters and Craig Anderson. He has been featured at First Night, the Vermont Maple Festival, Summer Sounds, and more.

WILLISTON--Michele Choiniere and Benoit Bourque held Song and Dance workshops for students last week at Williston Central School.
Ms. Choiniere is our own Franco-American folk singer, songwriter, musician, and teacher. The Smithsonian Folkways artist performs at festivals throughout New England, Quebec, and France and on Vermont Public Television, and in Yankee Magazine. She is a visiting artist in Vermont schools. Musician, dancer, and singer, M. Bourque specializes in bones playing, step dancing and other traditional Quebec dances in lectures and workshops. His father and grandfather played the bones; he now plays as a duet with his son Antoine under the name "Bourque emissaires" (a pun on the name Bourque that sounds very similar to "bouc emissaire," meaning "scapegoats," in French). Franklin County first met him as a member of La Bottine Souriante more than 20 years ago.
It's tax time! Most libraries have printed copies of basic VT and Federal tax forms for patrons, as well as copies of the VT instruction booklet. They also have computer access to forms and instructions from irs.gov and the Vermont Department of taxes. FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF
Lots of book discussions this week. Local libraries usually have a number of books available for these groups. New members are always welcome.
ENOSBURG FALLS--The Enosburg Public Library Reading and Discussion group will tackle Elena Gorokhova's memoir, A Mountain of Crumbs, next Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
Ms. Gorokhova grew up in bleak and disillusioned Soviet Union of the 60s and 70s, controlled by the state and controlled by her mother. As a child she learns early to play the national game of pretending and as an adult, she writes its elegy.
FAIRFAX--The Fairfax Community Library Non-Fiction Book Group discusses Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder this evening at 6:30. Mr. Kidder created nonfiction that reads like a novel and received the Pulitzer Prize for his Soul of a New Machine.
Next Wednesday, the Young Engineers Challenge brings teams together to build the tallest tower of toothpicks and marshmallows, all at 3 p.m. Call 802.849.2420 to pre-register
ST. ALBANS--The St. Albans Free Library Classic Movie Night this evening features On the Waterfront at 6 p.m. The 1954 crime drama film about union violence starred Marlon Brando. It was based on the extensive corruption, extortion, and racketeering in Hoboken, New Jersey. Films are shown on the 4' by 6' screen in the upstairs conference room cinema. Admission is free, along with popcorn and beverage.
Tuesday brings The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett to the Classic Readers Book Group at 6:45 p.m.
