Desorcie's Market presents Rick Davis opening for Dick Prescott in the free Summer Sounds concert in Highgate Municipal Park on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. RICK, MEET DICK
Back in the 60s as the Beatles conquered the world, Rick Davis, Lane Gibson, and some cousins formed the Davis Brothers Garage Band. The band started by playing covers of popular songs from Elton John, Steely Dan, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, and Carlos Santana, but they ended up writing and performing their own songs. The Davis Brothers signed a recording contract with Charisma Records in England; they toured in the Rocky Mountain West and then all over New England. That very same Rick Davis is here with a five-piece rock band that is "reminiscent of the Davis Brothers," he said. They will open for the world-famous Dick Prescott and his exceptional five-piece country band which plays "rockified country."
"Some have compared Dick Prescott to Forrest Gump," Mr. Davis said. "Others have suggested that he might be a time traveler!"
Just before the concert, stop by for the Summer Sounds Social in the Park starting at 6 p.m. The social hour is a chance to visit with friends and eat some delicious desserts.
The Summer Sounds concerts are sponsored by the Town of Highgate and the All Arts Council, and underwritten by Desorcie's Market, Drummac Septic Service, O. C. McCuin and Sons, and Ray's Extrusion Dies and Tubing.
The community based All Arts Council brings the performing arts to northwestern Vermont. The concerts are always on Sunday evenings, always at 7 p.m., always in Highgate Municipal Park, and always free. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair for the outdoor family music and festivities. The rain site is the Highgate United Methodist Church.

ST. ALBANS--Twiggs, the former Chow Bella, features Jon Young "on the wall" this period. ART ON THE WALLS
Mr. Young is product and technical adviser for Holbein Art Materials USA. He studied illustration at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, where he "fell in love with the bold graphic lines of the graffiti artists." He works in ink, watercolor, oil, and acrylics to create paintings that are bold in color, but serene in subject.
Twiggs donates the wall to local artists. They have continued as a featured location for both experienced and budding artists to display work for the entire community.

The Big Music Weeks of Summer continue with seven events in Franklin County! ON STAGE LIVE
WOODSTOCK--Pentangle Arts presents Michele Choiniere with Will Patton and Dono Schabner in the Woodstock Concerts on the Green today at noon.
An eight-event series, the Concerts on the Green are free and feature performances by local and national musicians. email for more info.
ST. ALBANS--Bayside Pavilion presents Carol Ann Jones this evening at 6:30.
"Come out and play!" she said.
ST. ALBANS--Twiggs hosts Robert Young on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.
As a solo singer/guitarist, Mr. Young performs his favorites from artists such as The Band, Eric Clapton, Dire Straits and Tom Petty as well as some more recent material from Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers and Phil Phillips. The rock n' roll artist has performed all around the Green Mountains since the 70s, currently with his classic rock band, The Hitmen, his acoustic trio Leno, Cheney and Young, or at parties with the High Rollers.
GEORGIA--The Georgia Library will hold a Town Sing-along on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Georgia resident Carol Ann Jones will lead.
"I've put together a song book of oldies ranging from patriotic to Stephen Foster and old good time sing-along songs," she said. Residents and family members at St. Albans Health & Rehab taught her many of the songs. "I think its important for families to sing together, but I also think passing these songs down to the next generation is very important too."
Georgia residents and their families are invited to sing and to play along on acoustic instruments. The sing along is free although a small donation for the songbooks is appreciated. Call 802.524.4643 for more info.
SHELDON--The Abbey Pavilion (the former Sheldon Casino) is busy this weekend.
On Saturday it hosts the second annual "O" Show Memorial Jam & Concert starting at 2:30 p.m. The all-afternoon/evening event in honor of Brooke Ostrander starts with a jam of local alumni and musicians from all over. The evening brings a country/rock concert with Nashville guitarist Forrest Lee Jr., Summer Sounds favorites Dark Horse, and then Nashville recording artist and Voice finalist Jay Taylor.
Advance tickets start at $15 (or $20 on Saturday) with a "pick your price option" that allows for larger donations. Net proceeds from the show will go to support DonateLifeVT. click here for more info.
MONTGOMERY--The 25th season of Concerts by the Common concludes with Lake Street Dive at Pratt Hall on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Now based in Brooklyn, the Dive plays "a vivid, largely acoustic, groove-driven strain of indie pop," and has recorded five albums. They appeared on A Prairie Home Companion last fall and head to Europe in November to tour Scandinavia, Germany, France, Holland and the UK.

SHELDON--On Sunday, the Town of Sheldon hosts a 250th Anniversary Celebration at the Abbey Pavilion at 5 p.m. The evening offers a birthday cake and ice cream plus music by Joe's Big Band with music and dancing starting at 6: 30 p.m.
The Joe Levesque Big Band (Joe's Big Band) is an 18 piece band with a rhythm section, vocalist, Trumpets, Trombones and Saxophones. They play the standards made famous by bands like Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington.
Bring your own picnic!
RICHFORD--A. A. Brown Public Library presents Bag - a - Rama on Monday at 5 p.m. Participants will design and create a hippie bag, hobo bag, grocery bag, laptop case, or whatever shape will fit their needs, a bag of their own. FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF
Etsy artist Mandy Jane Mayotte of Berkshire will show examples of her work and talk about how she approaches designing her unique bags and will help each person through the design and creation process. The Library will provide all materials including clothing items from the Nifty Thrifty recycle shop in Richford and donated sewing notions, trim and accessories to embellish the bags. Sewing machines and irons will be available for use. Participants are welcome to bring their own materials
Donations to cover the cost of purchased supplies will be gladly accepted.
This is another event in the Make It and Take It series hosted by the library. These events are a sign of the changing face of libraries today, where the focus is less on the collections and more on making connections. Many libraries across the country are creating permanent makerspaces or pop-up events to bring people together to learn new skills and solve problems with high tech activities on 3D printers and laser cutters, electronics or robotics, but can also include more traditional activities such as fine arts, hand arts, metalworking, woodworking, and crafts.
