The Summer Sounds concert series continues in Highgate Municipal Park as Drummac Septic Service presents Mango Jam in a triumphant return to Highgate on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. JAMMIN' BUT NO FRUIT
Mango Jam is a six piece dance band playing straight-ahead Zydeco as well as New Orleans-inspired Funk and Reggae/Ska. The band draws its inspiration from the music of South Louisiana and the Caribbean and they will rock the park with those hot rhythms. They have been playing together almost as long as the Summer Sounds series.
Their play list incorporates Cajun, New Orleans R&B and Mardi Gras songs as well as the original songs of guitarist and singer, Josie Ritter. Band members also include Gus Ziesing, accordions, saxophones, vocals; Dana Lavigne, guitar, fratois, vocals; Mimi Ryan, alto saxophone, vocals; Lee Beckwith, bass, vocals; and Allen Bilson, drums.
The Summer Sounds concerts are sponsored by the Town of Highgate and the All Arts Council, and underwritten by Chevalier Drilling, Drummac Septic Service, O. C. McCuin & Sons, and Ray's Extrusion Dies & Tubing.
The community based All Arts Council brings the performing arts to northwestern Vermont. The concerts are always on Sunday evenings, always at 7 p.m., always in Highgate Municipal Park, and always free. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair as you settle in to enjoy outdoor family music and festivities. The rain site is the Highgate United Methodist Church.
ST. ALBANS--Free Frames! Free Frames! ART ON THE WALLS
Interesting promotion. Tomorrow and every Friday is "Black Friday" at the Village Frame Shoppe. Owner D. J. Patullo offers select black frames for free with the purchase of glass, mounting, and fitting for a work you bring in or buy at the shop.

The Village Frame Shoppe has moved to the historic M.H. Fishman building on the busy corner of Main and Kingman Streets, across from Taylor Park, with an expanded gallery and framing department. SHELDON--Summer Music at Grace presents the Klimowski-Matthews Ensemble on Friday, at 7:30 p.m. ON STAGE LIVE
The four musicians play an eclectic sampling of chamber music for flute, clarinet, cello and guitar including original arrangements and music from jazz, Latin, pop, classical and the newly composed.
Admission is by suggested donation of $15 for adults, $10 for students, and $5 for children.

BURLINGTON--The Champlain Valley Folk Festival returns with a three day weekend summer festival at Rock Point School this weekend, Friday evening through Sunday noon. They will celebrate their 30th anniversary in new venue with programming that brings together old favorites and up and coming talent.
The performers include Frost and Fire, Pete Sutherland and Jim Burns, Helen Hummel, Sassafras Stomp, Mary Wesley, Luke Donforth, Dominique Dodge and Robert Ryan, Billy Wylder, Brass Balagan, Marty Morrissey and Robert Resnik, Robert Resnik and Martha Seyler, Augusta Rose Diamond, David Gusakov and Rick Ceballos, Bret Hughes, Brad and Ken Kolodner, Gigi and Joni, Aaron Marcus and Joanne Garton, Judson Kimble, Hollis Easter, Aaron Marcus, On the Border Morris, and many more.
The festival will be open Friday, 5 - 11 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 12 noon. click here for tickets.
SWANTON--The Swanton Park Concert series presents the Nobby Reed Project on the Village Green park bandstand Saturday evening at 6 p.m. The free concert was rescheduled from June 22.
Vermont's premiere blues trio plays the best original music in the soul-shakin'-electric Texas and Chicago blues styles with a Vermont touch. The band includes Eric Belrose, percussion, Ray Bushey, bass, and Highgate's own Mr. Reed on lead guitar and vocals.
Admission is free. Bring your own blankets, chairs, and bug spray.
ST. ALBANS--The Kingman Street Classic presents the Starline Rhythm Boys live on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
The all day family event runs 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. and includes classic wheels, music, refreshments, trophies and prizes. All proceeds benefit Save the Ladies Fund, the St. Albans Steelers, and Dream Big. Bring a canned good for the Food Shelf.
SHELDON--The Abbey presents the 4th annual Undercover Concert at the Abbey Pavilion (the former Sheldon Casino) on Saturday. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
The event started as a ridiculously fun concert at the Abbey for Nightrain fans. This year Nightrain will blow up the stage again along with Nashville sensation and Vermont superstar, Jamie Lee Thurston.
Admission is $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold. Click here today for tickets (they will be held at the door of the concert).
FAIRFAX--The Fairfax Summer Concert Series presents Carol Ann Jones with Will Patton and Dono Schabner on the on the lawn outside the Middle School Gym on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Admission is free. Bring your blanket, lawn chairs, and family. In the case of rain the concert will be held in the middle school gym.
BAKERSFIELD--The Bakersfield Conservation Committee will host a special celebration with the Missisquoi River Band to showcase the newly renovated Bakersfield Park on Wednesday at 7 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The Missisquoi River Band with Bakersfield's Will Patton, Pat Murphy, and Jim and Cindy Weed plays a traditional and original bluegrass music featuring three-part harmonies and innovative instrumentals.

BURLINGTON--Young Tradition Vermont presents campers and instructors in An Evening of Music and Dance from Trad Camp with Pete Sutherland, Brian Perkins, Mary Wesley, Julia Wayne, Mark Sustic and others in the Fletcher Free Library on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
The annual Young Tradition Vermont Trad Camp held this week offers professional instruction in songs, tunes, and dances for ages 7 - 17. Admission to the concert is free.
HIGHGATE (MARK YOUR CALENDARS)--The Town of Highgate will host a special Summer Sounds concert on SATURDAY, July 27 as part of the Highgate 250th Anniversary Celebration that day. The Celebration will offer continuous entertainment all afternoon and evening from the MVU Jazz band, singer Alanna Freeman, storyteller Virginia Holiman, Dark Horse, and more.
The event will include a car show, dunking booth, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office rollover car, a Highgate Volunteer Fire Department fire, an historic sites bus tour, U-Ken-Do hot air balloon, a Zumba party, and an eerie bonfire. A free barbecue starts at 3 p.m.
Many renowned movers and shakers will be in the Dunking Booth. They've asked me to go last.
Admission is free.
Take A Seat, In the Islands! is a Lake Champlain Islands Chamber of Commerce community arts event for 2013. Artistic benches can be seen in businesses from South Hero to the Alburgh Welcome Center. CLICK HERE: ART SITE OF THE WEEK
