ENOSBURG FALLS--The Artist In Residence Gallery features different artists each month. This month, the spotlight is on Carl Newton, Shaker inspired bentwood items and boxes; Jim Foote, acrylic and oil paintings; still life painter (with a touch of landscapes) Martha Ohliger; and nature photographer Maggy Young. The exhibit continues through the end of December. ART ON THE WALLS (and OTHER PLACES)
The A.I.R. has returned to the winter schedule for free meet-the-artists reception -- with refreshments -- on the first Sunday of each month.
The Artist in Residence art cooperative features paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, sculpture, lamps, pottery, folk art boxes, scarves, hats and more by 45 Franklin County and surrounding area artists. It is owned and operated by the artists and sponsors. The gallery, located at 321 Main Street, is open Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. plus the first Sunday of each month, noon to 5 p.m. And will be open until 7 p.m. on Fridays until Christmas.
ST ALBANS--The Northwestern Medical Center Gallery hosts local artist Bob Eldridge of Swanton this month. Mr. Eldridge is exhibiting paintings and prints in acrylic, pen, and watercolor of wildlife and historical illustrations

KEY WEST, FL--We passed two men from Brooklyn riding unicycles near the South Pine Channel Bridge in the Florida Keys on Sunday; they passed us later at Mile Marker 1. Keith Nelson and Robert Hickman traveled there by unicycle last week in a six-day performance art project to commemorate the 100 years of the Flagler railroad bridges and the brand-new Heritage Trail system.
Mr. Nelson and Mr. Hickman pedaled along U.S. 1 from Key Largo to Key West on one wheel (each) during their "Unibridge Tour." Mr. Nelson swallows swords and juggles as the Clown Price of the Bindlestiff Family Circus. Safer than the Seven Mile Bridge. Mr. Hickman is an associate professor of sculpture and art at Hunter College, New York.
They completed the trip as part of Sculpture Key West's 17th annual exhibition. The show runs through March 2013 at Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park and at West Martello Tower. The theme this weekend is "Romantic Key West."

MIAMI--14 shorts, all made in Miami, will screen at the biggest Borscht Film Festival yet, starting this weekend. FILM NEWS
This year’s lineup includes The Voice Thief, Haunt Ed, Crackhead Katana, and Miami 1996, a found footage tale of a booty party gone gruesomely wrong. There will even be a secret cinema screening of Super Fuzz, possibly the worst film ever made about Miami. Local film makers made 115 submissions but Borscht commissioned a few out-of-town film makers to shoot in Miami.
The Borscht Film Festival is a semi-annual event "to commission and showcase films by emerging artists that tell Miami stories going beyond the typical portrayal of a beautiful but vapid party town, forging the cinematic identity of the city." Borscht, which is s one of a growing number of film collectives popping up around the country, received a $500,000 grant from the Knight Foundation. These groups of artists, photographers, actors, technicians, editors, and producers team up to work on each other's movies; they develop a resume and win hands-on experience.

BURLINGTON--Metronome presents long awaited return of Justice this evening at 9 p.m. ON STAGE LIVE
"It has been six months and we are back for a Pre-Christmas Bash," Scott Guptill said. "Put a little Justice in your stockings this year!"
Admission is $5 at the door. Minors will not be admitted.
BURLINGTON--The Heineberg Senior Center presents Carol Ann Jones with Shila Boomhower, the Austin Handbell Choir, Heineberg Chorus, and Monika Baege in a Holiday Concert tomorrow evening at 7 p.m.
Admission is by $5 suggested donation to the Senior Center at the door.
ST. ALBANS--Chow Bella presents Comedy for a Cause on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The adult comedy show will benefit SASA, the St. Albans Skating Association.

MONTPELIER--Capital City Grange hosts a Montpelier Contradance featuring Will Patton with Rodney Miller and Stuart and Matthew Kenney on Saturday at 8 p.m.

RICHFORD--The Arvin A. Brown Library is raffling a Kindle Fire. The e-reader and tablet has a new processor, that is "40% faster and more fluid than before." It offers free cloud storage and long battery life, with up to 9 hours of reading, web surfing on Wi-Fi, video, and music. And you can borrow free Kindle compatible books from the library! The trustees and staff are raising funds needed to keep the library at the center of the community, as the "go to" place where residents and neighbors can network and find answers to their questions. Their fund-raising goal is $12,273 this year.
The Kindle drawing will be held Saturday at Noon. The library will use the money raised to buy books and plan programs.
ST. ALBANS-The St. Albans Library Writers' Medley takes over the conference room today at 2 p.m. The Medley is a time of fun and sharing for writers and those interested in writing. Call Wanda (802.524.1507) for more info.
It is also Classic Movie Night as the library presents 1940's The Shop Around the Corner this evening at 6 p.m. Margaret Sullivan and James Stewart star as mutually contrary co-workers, both unaware that each is professing love to the other via a mail correspondence.
The library shows a newsreel, cartoon, and trailer of coming attractions before each weekly movie. All films are shown on the 4' by 6' screen in the upstairs conference room "cinema." Admission is free, along with popcorn and a beverage.
On Classic Readers Tuesday, the Book Group meets in the library at 6:30 p.m. to spend an evening with the tenement-based coming-of-age novel, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, by Betty Smith.
Representational sculptor Emily Bedard of Milton keeps a sculpture journal. She focuses on the human figure and portraiture. Bridgeport, CT's Seaside Park has installed her Lady Liberty sculpture in the Soldier's and Sailor's Monument. Her blog has info about her prints (etching and linoleum) and drawings in graphite, colored pencil, and ink, but no contact info. Email her for that. CLICK HERE: ART SITE OF THE WEEK
