JERICHO--The Fall art exhibit for the Barn Paint Out begins at the Jericho Town Hall with a reception on Saturday 1 - 4 p.m. Each painting in the show includes a Vermont barn. The exhibit continues through December 28. ART ON THE WALLS

ST. ALBANS--The St. Albans Historical Museum hosts a Harvest Moon Dance Party in the Bliss Room tomorrow evening at 6:30 p.m. Weed's Imperial Orchestra will play Big Band swing music from the 1930-40s. ON STAGE LIVE
BFA instrumental music program director Eric Bushey now conducts the Orchestra. He had played with Weed's Orchestra for eight years. They will celebrate Vermont's fall colors and crisp weather with music from Mr. Weed's fabulous collection plus food and lots of pumpkins.
"We'll be dusting off the old charts," Mr. Bushey said. "All of the players were former students/band members of that group and will be playing for listening and dancing."
The Sterling D. Weed Memorial Music Room at the Museum contains Mr. Weed’s uniforms, instruments, photographs, and memorabilia, and the tall glass-doored bookcase stacked full of his thousands of arrangements.
The Museum will serve "lite bites" and refreshments (wine and soft drinks) for the first hour. Music for your listening and dancing pleasure begins at 7:30 sharp.
Admission is $15 per person (food and beverages included). Reservations are necessary; call 802.527.7933 or email to save your spot.

FIDDLIN' AROUND--Fiddleheads will not hold their usual monthly rehearsal session on Saturday at the Burlington Violin Shop; they will resumed in November.
Fiddleheads will play at Baird 5 at Fletcher Allen Health Care on Tuesday and the Music for Sprouts sessions kick off on Wednesday in Shelburne.
WESTFORD--The Westford Music Series presents Bread and Bones in the White Church on Sunday at 4 p.m.

New Life Christian Church of West Berkshire seeks two male and one female actors for the Christmas Musical, Wonderful Counselor. Tim Stetson wrote the libretto; the music is from many composers. CALL FOR THESPIANS

GROTON, VT--Burlington City Arts has invited Gail Salzman to teach/coach a weekend Art Retreat, Drawing & Painting Retreat with Gail Salzman at Seyon Lodge on November 9-11. DRAWING AND PAINTING RETREAT
Ms. Salzman calls the workshop a chance to jumpstart the creative process and enjoy an uninterrupted weekend of drawing, painting and artistic inspiration. Activities will include spontaneous drawing and writing exercises, interpretation of the environment, and group discussions.
Tuition is $850 with a Member Discount Available. There is a strict 7-participant limit, interested artists should sign up soon as possible. "It will be a small supportive group in a beautiful setting with plenty of good food," Ms. Salzman said. "What could be better?"

FAIRFIELD--The Bent Northrop Memorial Library Lecture Series hosts Alfred Hitchcock and the Art of Suspense this evening at 7 p.m. Film Studies Instructor and co-owner of Montpelier's Savoy Theater Rick Winston will explore the evolution of Hitchcock's craft, his favorite themes, his collaborators, and his wry sense of humor no matter how grisly the subject. The BNML Harvest a Book Sale on Friday 9 - 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 - 1 p.m. has "lots of used books" from gently-used to well-loved to looks-new. Current hardcover and paperback titles for adults and kids are included.
ST. ALBANS--It is Classic Movie Night as the St. Albans Free Public Library presents Arsenic and Old Lace this evening at 6 p.m. Directed by Frank Capra, the funny film stars Cary Grant and Priscilla Lane with a macabre topic just perfect for Halloween.
The library shows a newsreel, cartoon, and trailer of coming attractions before each weekly movie. All films are shown on the 4' by 6' screen in the upstairs conference room "cinema." Admission is free, along with popcorn and a beverage.
On Classic Readers Tuesday, the Book Group meets in the Library at 7 p.m. to spend an evening with Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton.
The 1911 flashback novel by a Pulitzer Prize-winning author is set in the fictional town of Starkfield. Wharton stirs a soup of the mysterious Ethan Frome, his ailing wife, Zeena, and her companion, Mattie Silver, in their bleak and cold New England home.
Kathy Parsonnet of White River Junction is a painter, therapeutic artist, and artist-in-residence in healthcare. She has developed the art forms Fraglets and Dry-Paint Collage.
