Stop in for live music and more at the Fairfax Music Sessions at the Foothills Bakery in Fairfax most Saturday afternoons at 1 p.m., at various restaurants around Franklin County throughout the week, at the Bayside in St Albans Town most Sunday afternoons, and the Cambridge CoffeeHouses at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of every month.

The Summer of Music keeps us busy all around the County again this weekend with Field Days, free concerts, National Night Out, and Summer Sounds. Not to mention Art on the Walls.
The All Arts Council and the Swanton Chamber of Commerce present the Young Guns Tailgate Tour in the Summer Sounds concert in Swanton Village Park on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. This is the third tour stop in Franklin County but Summer Sounds' first Swanton visit in several years. THE YOUNGEST SUMMER CONTINUES
Country music's Keeghan Nolan assembled a group of talented under-21 performers from this area. AAC particularly wants to showcase the younger up-and-coming stars.
The Young Guns on the Tailgate Tour include Tiffany Couture, Alanna Freeman, Mingo Maquera, Troy Millette, Rosie Newton, and Deanna Pelletier.
Ms. Nolan, still just 19, has spent her life in country music, traveling between Vermont, Nashville, and Florida to perform at indoor and outdoor festivals, County Fairs and concerts including each of the major Franklin County festivals. She has opened for national acts David Allan Coe, Jimmy Wayne and Dusty Drake, and performed with 8084 on their Reunion Tour. She also organized the 2011 Young Guns Flood Relief Tour.
Just before the concert, stop by for the VFW-Summer Sounds Social in the Park starting at 6 p.m. The social hour is a chance to visit with friends and eat hamburgers, hot dogs, and so much more.
The Summer Sounds concerts are sponsored by the Village of Swanton and the All Arts Council, and underwritten by Chevalier Drilling, Desorcie's Market, Drummac Septic Service, O. C. McCuin and Sons, Ray's Extrusion Dies and Tubing, and the Swanton Chamber.
The community based All Arts Council brings the performing arts to northwestern Vermont. The concerts are always on Sunday evenings, always at 7 p.m., always in a Town Park, and always free. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair for the outdoor family music and festivities. The rain site this week is the Swanton VFW.

Today through Sunday, Vermont's finest country fair takes to the fields of Highgate as the 37th annual Franklin County Field Days brings a lineup of the best music, arts and crafts, and of course weeds that Franklin County has to offer. The musical lineup includes more continuous music every day than ever before. And it all begins today at 12 noon. COUNTY'S TOP MUSICIANS ARE OUT STANDING IN FIELD
Franklin County Homemakers Club will hold an ongoing quilt demonstration and quilt raffle. And don't forget the free corn eating contest in front of the Saloon.
Music starts at 2 p.m. today as Highgate singer Alana Freeman takes over the Main Stage. Chasing 440 and Maple Creek play through the afternoon and evening.
Joey the Clown begins walking around the grounds far earlier on Friday than the Parade of Antique Tractors. Also tomorrow, Alana Freeman returns to start the day followed by the Jim Daniels Band, the Jessica Prouty Band, and Ivory, the Valerie-Costello Band, all on the Main Stage.
On Saturday comedy hypnotist Joey Allen helps you catch up on nap in the morning. The Keeghan Nolan Band and the Jessica Prouty Band play through the afternoon. Dark Horse returns to complete the Festival hat trick at 7:30, on the Main Stage.
Missisquoi River Band lights up Sunday morning and the Nobby Reed Project anchors the stage until the Field Days gates close.
Field Days has "One Price" admission of $10 per day for adults, teens, and children over three feet tall. It includes all midway rides, exhibits, and entertainment. Children under three feet tall are admitted for free. A limited number of rides may be available for small children. Parking costs just $1 per car inside and outside of the gate.

ENOSBURG FALLS--The Artist In Residence Gallery features different artists each month. This month, the spotlight is on painter Kristan Doolan, woodturner Michael Fitzgerald, and painter/photographer Natalie LaRocque Bouchard. ART ON THE WALLS
The A.I.R. gallery hosts a free meet-the-artists reception with refreshments this evening from 5 - 8 p.m. The exhibit continues through the end of August.
The Artist in Residence art cooperative features paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, sculpture, lamps, pottery, folk art boxes, scarves, hats and more by 45 Franklin County and surrounding area artists. It is owned and operated by the artists and sponsors. The gallery, located at 321 Main Street, is open Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. plus the first Sunday of each month, noon to 5 p.m.
ST ALBANS--The Northwestern Medical Center Gallery hosts Linda Wirts of Swanton this month. Ms. Wirts is exhibiting watercolors of flowers and nature.
The show continues through the end of August.
BURLINGTON--Young Tradition Vermont and Trad Camp host free concerts by special guests at Memorial Auditorium every day this week. YTV kids and instructors have been in residence from July 20 - August 3 to learn about playing, singing, and dancing in traditional and folk styles. ON STAGE LIVE

ESSEX JUNCTION--On Tap at the Lincoln Inn offers Blues Night with the Nobby Reed Project tonight at 7 p.m. and the Phil Abair Band tomorrow at 9.

ST. ALBANS--First Congregational Church presents the Counterpoint Chorus singing The Voice of My Beloved tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m. The program is a refreshing summertime medley of African-American spirituals, folk songs from America, England, Venezuela, and Eastern Europe, and jubilant sacred works.
The twelve voice Counterpoint Chorus is Vermont's only professional chorus. They perform traditional music, new works, and Vermont compositions, offer rarely performed works, unique arrangements, and the work of contemporary composers, and do educational outreach and choral workshops in schools around New England. New music director Nathaniel Lew will conduct.

ESSEX, NY--The Old Docks Restaurant presents the Nobby Reed Project on Saturday at 9 p.m.
SOUTH HERO--The Blue Paddle Bistro presents Carol Ann Jones hosting the new Music in the Meadow Open Mic on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
ST. ALBANS and SWANTON--Taylor Park and Swanton Village Park host National Night Out on Tuesday from 5:00 - 9 p.m. The annual event offers music, free food, and activities for kids and adults alike to increase support and participation in anti-crime programs and strengthen community spirit. The family fun event in St. Albans is also a fundraiser for Voices Against Violence and the Parallel Justice Project.

ST. ALBANS BAY--Bluegrass at Bayside presents the Missisquoi River Band at the Bayside Pavilion on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The band includes Cindy Weed, stand up bass, Jim Weed, lead and rhythm guitar, and artist Pat Murphy, guitar. Then the Starline Rhythm Boys play Bar-B-Q day on Wednesday, also at 6:30.
The long-standing dance hall has been completely renovated into more restaurant space with two decks. The Missisquoi River Band plays every Tuesday and the Boys every Wednesday evening through the Summer. Admission is free.
FAIRFAX--The Fairfax Summer Concert Series presents the Woods Tea Company on the Green at BFA-Fairfax on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
Admission is free. Bring your blanket, lawn chairs, and family. In the case of rain the concert will be held in the middle school gym.
ESSEX JUNCTON--The Brownell Library will host an Irregulars Concert and Dance on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The Irregulars are winners of the 2011 Young Tradition Weekend contest. Participatory dancing will be led by caller Alison James. The rain site is the library where, sadly, there is not enough room to dance but they can have the music indoors.
ST. ALBANS--The St. Albans Free Library begins the Third Annual Film Noir Festival on Classic Movie Night tonight at 6 p.m. They will screen four noir movies, one each week. The series begins tonight with High Sierra. Aging gangster Humphrey Bogart tries one last heist and Ida Lupino falls for him. FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF
The library shows a newsreel, cartoon, and trailer of coming attractions before each weekly movie. All films are shown on the 4' by 6' screen in the upstairs conference room "cinema." Admission is free, along with popcorn and a beverage.
