As Scott Guptill wrote, "We're heading into the busy stretch!" The Summer of Music is getting underway. HEADING INTO SUMMER
This weekend Will Patton and Carol Ann Jones, Justice, the Starline Rhythm Boys, and Christopher McBride pop up around the area.
Next Friday, June 29, The Michele Fay Band performs in Summer Music at Grace. Then Saturday starts the Christian Music in the Park series. Summer Sounds begins at Bay Day the following weekend with Dark Horse. St Paul's Methodist Church brings the Kings Brass to the sanctuary on July 1. July 7 brings a Peter Griggs concert, a History of Classical Guitar, to St. John Episcopal Church in Highgate Falls, a Concert by the Common to Montgomery, and a Barnstormers Chorus to St. Albans.
And the summer will just get busier with Fiddler on the Roof, the 20th annual Jig in the Valley, the Fairfax Summer Concert Series, Town Bands, and much more.
SUMMER SOUNDS
New performers, bluegrass, classical, country, folk, pop, and classic rock-n-roll makes for a great season. Each summer concert is free. The concerts will be held in the Municipal Park in Highgate, the Bay Park in St Albans Town, and the Village Green in Swanton. Settle in on your own blanket or lawn chair and enjoy outdoor family music. Bring your own bug spray.The Summer Sounds concerts are sponsored by the Town of Highgate, the Town of St. Albans Town, Swanton Village, and the All Arts Council, and underwritten by Chevalier Drilling, Desorcie's Market, Drummac Septic Service, O. C. McCuin and Sons, and Ray's Extrusion Dies and Tubing.

The community based All Arts Council brings the performing arts to northwestern Vermont.
The Franklin County Relay for Life this weekend is a big entertainment event that just happens to raise money and awareness for one of Franklin County's most important health causes. RELAY THAT
OK, that might have been a little over the top.
Relay For Life is an overnight event that joins communities in the fight against cancer. It celebrates cancer survivors, helps us remember loved ones, and fights back against a disease that takes too much from too many right here in Franklin County.
The Franklin County Relay for Life takes place this weekend at the Collins Perley Sports Complex. The Gates Open at noon. Events include a DJ, Zumba with Jan Sweet, Face Painting/Bead Jewelry Making for kids, a Potato Sack Race, Jump Rope, a Chicken Dance, and more.
Relay teams raise money for the American Cancer Society, and then join together on and around the Collins Perley track to walk overnight. Many teams will set up campsites to enjoy entertainment, activities, and special ceremonies throughout the night.
The Saturday main stage will feature former Miss Vermont Caroline Bright with Dillon Hupp on guitar and vocals at 4 p.m. Ms. Bright will also perform the National Anthem at the opening ceremonies. Carol Ann Jones takes the stage at 6:30 p.m. Jarvis-Jarvis, the father/son guitar and vocals act of Dan and Sean Jarvis, follow at 7:30 p.m.
"Somewhere right around 8:40 p.m. I also have a surprise guest stopping in for a 3-song set," Entertainment/Activities Co-Chair Brian Fredette reported. "A kind of well known pre-teen St. Albans female vocalist is all I'll say."

SOUTH HERO--The Blue Paddle Bistro Thursday Night Music series presents Carol Ann Jones and Will Patton as a duo this evening at 6:30 p.m. ON STAGE LIVE
A Sacramento radio DJ and a music writer also from California will film this concert as one of five episodes for a pilot TV show for the Travel Channel and Discovery Channel. The pilot will feature indie artists and the American venues that hire them, and customers who support local business and local music.

ST. ALBANS--The One Federal Restaurant and Lounge Thursday Night Summer Concert Series presents Justice this evening at 7 p.m. The band includes Gary Greeno, lead vocals; Scott Belisle on bass and backup vocals; Todd Dunn, lead and rhythm guitar; Mike Fredette, drums; and Scott Guptill, rhythm guitar and backup vocals.
Admission is free.
WILLISTON--Maple Tree Place presents the Nobby Reed Project this evening at 6:30 p.m. Vermont's premiere blues trio includes Eric Belrose, percussion, Ray Bushey, bass, and Mr. Reed on lead guitar and vocals.
ST. ALBANS--One Federal, Eaton's Fine Jewelry, and the Franklin County Humane Society present Dogs for Diamonds at One Federal Restaurant and Lounge tomorrow evening at 6:30 p.m. The benefit dinner dance features a champagne toast to give away a half-carat diamond courtesy of Eaton's Fine Jewelry and live music by the Starline Rhythm Boys.
The future of FCHS depends totally on caring, generous individuals to keep the animals sheltered until they find loving, permanent homes. Events like this one open the doors and light the lights there.

ST. ALBANS--Chow!Bella presents Christopher McBride on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Mr. McBride of Westford produces maple products from his own sugarbush, is a freelance photographer and framer, and makes a living as a sleight-of-hand artist who tells stories with a deck of cards. He earned a BS in zoology and an MS in botany, served as a Peace Corps volunteer, has taught high-school science, conducted field surveys for the U.S. Forest Service, and taught ecology, photography, and magic courses with Elder Hostel for over ten years.

BARRE--Rockfire Festival presents Will Patton and Smithsonian recording artist Michele Choiniere at Millstone Hill on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
Attention Burning Man fans. The Festival includes interpretations, art and sculpture installations, and music hosted by Robert Resnik. Other artists include Bread and Puppet, Catamount Pipe Band, Pete Sutherland, and Antoinette B Jacobson Fire Organ.
The Millstone Trails Association benefit is a summer solstice in the magic of Millstone Hill with a goal of raising $100,000 toward the purchase and preservation of 400 acres of Barre's unique historic quarry lands for public use.

GRAND ISLE--Island Arts Concert Series presents the Will Patton Quintet in concert at the Grand Isle Lake House on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Admission is $20 advance or $25 at door. The gates open at 5:30 p.m. for picnicking.

Tech Tuesday returns on Tuesday, June 26 at 6 p.m. to create one-of-a-kind subway art for your home. The project will use free digital photo editing software to design our word art using any message that is special to you. The library can provide three computers to use during the class, but it would be helpful for people to bring their own laptops.
RICHFORD--A. A. Brown Public Library has the Dream Big Reading Kick Off at the Cornerstone Community Center on Saturday at 3 p.m. when Backpack Theater presents The Emperor's Nightingale and The Gingerbread Boy.
The Richford Summer Camp will have a series of musical guests (mostly) on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. This Tuesday, June 26, Gary Dulabaum, called "the voice of humor in a world gone musical," will one-lines his way across Richford. The singer-songwriter plays guitar and five string banjo.
