BFA-St. Albans will hold its first choral concert of the school year this evening at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at BFA. The program includes a variety of music ranging from classical to popular. FALL CONCERT
The concert will feature the BFA Chamber Singers, vocal soloists, and the Academy Chorus, all under the direction of BFA Choral Director Armand Messier.
BFA Vocal Soloists Alexis Scangas and Lauren Handy study voice with Ms. Arlene Jarvis. Each will perform a vocal piece.
The BFA Chorus will open their program with the Star Spangled Banner. They will also perform Pie Jesu from Requiem with soloists Lauren Handy, soprano, and Audrey Plante, soprano; Hold Steady With the Gate with soloists Graham Garland, tenor, Rachelle Chevalier, mezzo soprano, and Ben Thieken, bass; I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables, and more.
BFA Chamber Singers will perform Old Dan Tucker, the The Turtle Dove, and more
Admission is free and open to the public.
ENOSBURG FALLS--L.E.A.P.S., the Enosburg Falls After School Program, presents Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the Middle High School Auditorium starting this evening and running Friday and Saturday evenings, all with a 7 p.m. curtain. ON STAGE LIVE
Excitement! Danger! Machinery! Chocolate! Adventurer Charlie Bucket tours Willy Wonka's world-famous Chocolate Factory with Augustus Gloop, Violet Beauregarde, Veruca Salt, Grandpa George, Grandma Georgina, and Willy Wonka. Richard R. George adapted the children's play from the fantasy by Roald Dahl.
Admission is $5 adults or $3 students with the proceeds to benefit LEAPS.
STOWE--The Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center and the Perlman Music Program are hosting a four-day residency program led by Maestro Itzhak Perlman; the residency of 24 PMP alumni, all string players between the ages of 18 and 25, will practice and will perform a Chamber Music Concert and an Orchestral and Choral Concert at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center.
Any interested Vermont Youth Orchestra members may attend a free open rehearsal led by Itzhak Perlman tomorrow afternoon from 3:30 - 5 p.m.
The Chamber Music Concert, tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m., will include movements from works by Mozart, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Dvorak and Shostakovich.
The Orchestral and Choral Concert will take place Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. Maestro Perlman will conduct a string orchestra of all 24 residency participants. Maestro Patrick Romano will conduct the PMP Master Singers with residency participants and faculty.
Admission is $25 for adults and $10 for students for Friday's Chamber Music Concert, and $40 for adults and $15 for students for Saturday's Orchestral and Choral Concert. All tickets are available from the box office (802.760.4634) or at sprucepeakarts.org.

11-11-11 is Veterans Day and is advertised as National Metal Day. "We want to thank all of our Veterans who have served and those that are currently serving our great country," Scott Guptill said. The show will be recorded live.
Justice has four well-seasoned musicians with Chris Fleury, lead vocals and drums; Scott Belisle on bass and backup vocals; Todd Dunn, lead and rhythm guitar; and Scott Guptill, rhythm guitar and backup vocals.

ST. ALBANS--St. Mary's Church presents a Concert of Gregorian Chant and Organ Music on Sunday at 3 p.m.
The Vermont Gregorian Chant Schola under Dr. William Tortolano will perform at the oldest standing Catholic church in Vermont. Dr. Tortolano is founder and director of the liturgical singing group in residence at Saint Michael's College. St. Mary's has two manual Casavant pipe organs with manuals and 982 pipes.
The concert is open to the public Admission is by free will offering.
BURLINGTON--The UVM Old Time Music Club hosts a Shape Note Sing in Ira Allen Chapel at UVM every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Mason Gohl holds pitching/leading/sight-reading lessons before the Sing at 6 p.m. Check for occasional changes in time, date and location. Email for more info.

ON THE AIR--Floodapalooza, the benefit concert for the Vermont Disaster Relief Fund featured Mellow Yellow, Carol Ann Jones and the Superchargers, and the Nobby Reed Project. The concert raised to help those affected by Vermont's disastrous Spring and Irene-caused flooding this year.
Northwest Access TV, Channel 15, will broadcast the entire show tomorrow at 3 p.m. and again on Saturday at 9:30 p.m.
The Vermont Humanities Council Fall Conference, The Power of the Humanities: Why They Matter, takes place tomorrow and Saturday at the Stoweflake Mountain Resort in Stowe POWER OF THE HUMANITIES
The conference features James Cuno, president and CEO of the J. Paul Getty Trust on the role of art museums in preserving and transmitting culture; Richard Kogan, MD, with his lecture-performance that links stories of Beethoven's life with excerpts from Beethoven's work (tickets to this event are also available to those not attending the conference as a whole); Dr. John Stauffer, chair of the Program in the History of American Civilization at Harvard, on the American Civil War and American racial history; and Diana Eck, professor of Comparative Religion and Indian Studies at Harvard, on the significance and the challenges of understanding religious beliefs and practices across cultures.

The Veterans Administration National Medical Musical Group (NMMG) Chorale and Symphony Orchestra hosted its National Veterans Day Celebration Concert at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., yesterday with Lindsay Bloom, Eleanor Clift, the Honorable Hershel Gober, Lucas Hoge, Tony Jimenez, J. Reilly Lewis, Bob Madigan, Ron Masak, and Robert Torti. CLICK HERE: ART SITE OF THE WEEK
The program celebrated America's veterans and members of the armed forces, saluted our wounded warriors, honored the memory of our fallen, and highlighted the need to keep the flame alive for our MIAs and POWs. The companion Swiss-American International Friendship Concert takes place on Tuesday at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. Admission to both concerts is free.
The NMMG is made up of VA doctors, nurses, and clinicians who are also musicians and vocalists. The concert was taped for a later national broadcast.
