ESSEX JUNCTION--Backstage offers "a rocking good time" with the new band Justice in its first appearance there on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. Justice has four well-seasoned musicians with Chris Fleury, lead vocals and drums; Scott Belisle on bass and backup vocals; Todd Dunn, lead and rhythm guitar; and Scott Guptill, rhythm guitar and backup vocals.

The Flynn presents the Vermont Youth Orchestra Winter Concert on the main stage on Sunday at 3 p.m. VYO NEWS
The VYO, made up of about 95 top student musicians from Vermont and northern New York, is in its 48th season and is soon to welcome its fourth music director, Jeffrey Domoto. The orchestra always includes musicians from Franklin County.
The program features Robert Paterson's Suite for String Orchestra plus the Toccata for Percussion by Carlos Chavez, Mozart's Flute Concert No. 2 in D major with flautist Julianna Matthews from Newport, and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64. Ronald Braunstein conducts.
Robert Paterson has been in residence with the VYO since 2009, as part of the "Music Alive" residency program of the American Symphony Orchestra League and Meet The Composer. The national program offers resources and tools to support the creation, presentation, and support for new music with the audience and within the orchestra. Mr. Paterson has completed his second year of a three year span working directly with VYO musicians.

Jeffrey Domoto is the new Music Director Designate for the Vermont Youth Orchestra.
Maestro Domoto brings a broad background in youth orchestras. He was a member of the conducting staff of the New York City Opera and the Minnesota Opera where he worked extensively with young musicians and has been Music Director for the Sergio Franchi Music Foundation since 1998, an organization that supports young and emerging vocalists and entertainers. He has worked with young musicians at the Sewanee Music Festival, the Kinhaven School, and the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra and with the youth orchestras of Nanjing and Guangzhou, China. Maestro Domoto has conducted orchestras throughout North America, including the New Jersey and Atlanta Symphonies, the Minnesota Orchestra, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and the National Arts Center Orchestra in Ottawa. His recent guest engagements include appearances with the Lafayette (IN) Symphony, the Symphony of Southeast Texas, the Northeast Pennsylvania Philharmonic and the Diaghilev Festival in Perm, Russia. After his appearance with the Nanjing Philharmonic Orchestra, he was immediately appointed Principal Guest Conductor there. He has also conducted ballet and modern dance performances for companies such as the Minnesota Dance Theater and BodyVox of Portland, Oregon.
Maestro Domoto will begin with the Vermont Youth Orchestra and Vermont Youth Sinfonia next month and will move to Vermont permanently in March.
