Stop in for live music and more at the Fairfax Music Sessions at the Foothills Bakery in Fairfax most Saturday afternoons at 1 p.m., at various restaurants around Franklin County throughout the week, at the Bayside in St Albans Town most Sunday afternoons, and the Cambridge CoffeeHouses at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of every month.

ST. ALBANS--Cosmic Bakery and Cafe exhibits the artwork of Karen Day-Vath through January 15. ART ON THE WALLS
Her paintings All that Jazz and Let's Jam are also featured on the Art Mug for Vermont Public Radio's on air membership drive in February.
ENOSBURG FALLS--The Artist In Residence Gallery features different artists each month. This month, the spotlight is on students from Enosburg and Richford plus potter Barbara Colgrove, doll maker Alison Dezotelle, the clayworks of Kellee Maddox, and painter Becky Wright.
The A.I.R. gallery hosts a free meet-the-artists reception with refreshments tonight from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The exhibit continues through the end of January.
The Artist in Residence art cooperative features paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, sculpture, lamps, pottery, folk art boxes, scarves, hats and more by 45 Franklin County and surrounding area artists. Open Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
ST. ALBANS--St. Paul's United Methodist Church presents Twelfth Night gathering music to celebrate the arrival of the Three Kings by the St. Paul's Joyful Jazz Band on Saturday at 6:45 p.m. The program features the Juggling Jester, the Northern Bronze Handbell Ensemble, the Second Wind & Friends, soloists, and St. Paul's Dancers. Refreshments follow and some lucky guest will discover a baby, a ring, or a dried bean in the King's cake. A free will offering will benefit the Food Shelf, Martha's Kitchen, and Samaritan House.
JERICHO CENTER--The Jericho Community Center will host a benefit Contra Dance with caller Mark Sustic and Fiddleheads on Saturday at 7 p.m. The event benefits the Jericho Public Library.

BURLINGTON--FlynnSpace presents a Work-In-Progress showing of Emily Frappier's SuperGym -- The Musical on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Playwright Emily Frappier of East Berkshire is participating in the Flynn’s New Art Space Assistance (N.A.S.A.) grant. She has written the musical in collaboration with composer Andrew Frappier and lyricist Robert Bliss. It has been under development since 2009. The performance is a selection of songs and scenes created and reworked during the ten-week grant cycle.
Due to adult content, this show is not for audience members under 16 years of age. The suggested donation is $5 at the door. Click here for more info.
2011 will be another busy year in the arts with over 250 concerts, exhibits, recitals, and shows from more than 40 organizations. This column has info about upcoming All Arts Council and Opera House events plus the Five Franklin County Festivals and Town Band plans. We will cover Other Major Presenter plans next week. ALL ARTS COUNCIL WISH LIST
Every Franklin County presenter has planned another year of "really big shews" so we all need money and volunteers. AAC specifically needs a volunteer rain maker to help us raise the extra money not just to make the popular Summer Sounds series even better but also to underwrite the technical assistance we give other presenters and artists.
Don't forget that volunteers and a permanent base make up the "back room" a Local Arts Service Organizations like the AAC needs to offer marketing and technical help, have resources, store stuff, and to host meetings and exhibits, and concerts and workshops for artists, other groups, and local presenters.
If you have an advertising budge to spend or space to lend for the year, email the All Arts Council .
AAC will hold exhibits for artists in all media and pays actual cash money for bands and solo performers. If you are one or know one, email the All Arts Council .
ALL ARTS COUNCIL ACTIVITIES
The All Arts Council opens its second quarter century with three primary goals: continuing our popular programs, continuing our support of artists and other presenters, and continuing our partnerships. The AAC may also host several one-time shows. Email the All Arts Council if you would like to suggest or host a show.
Summer Sounds, Franklin County's premiere outdoor concert series begins again in July with a lineup of bluegrass, classical, country, folk, jazz, pop, opera, and classic rock-n-roll. Assuming the Towns continue their support. The concerts are always on a Sunday night, always in a Town Park, always at 7 p.m. and always free.
2011 AT THE OPERA HOUSE
The Opera House also plans a mix of major productions, touring, and community events. In conjunction with the AAC, they will host exhibits of artwork by Franklin County artists in the downstairs Gallery.

THE FIVE FESTIVALS
The 36th Franklin County Field Days swells Highgate with crafts, exhibits, agricultural exhibits, cattle judging, antique tractor pulls, rides, and more at the Franklin County Airport. This long running event fills a tent, the grounds, and the stage with popular bands and solo performers from near and far. July 28-31. Click here for more info.
Taken together, the five major Franklin County area Festivals have built more than 160 years of outdoor arts and entertainment here.
The 18th Annual Jig in the Valley will benefit the East Fairfield Community Center with a family day of music and picnicking on the last weekend in July. This concert helps raise funds and awareness for the NMC regional health center, pre-school, Head Start, Teen, and Senior Citizen programs. July 24.
The 10th Annual Lake Champlain Bluegrass Festival brings a full weekend of pickin' and grinnin' plus a craft fair, music workshops, a bonfire, barbeque, camping, and jamming, all on the first full weekend in August. August 11-14. Click here for more info.
The 55th annual Vermont Dairy Festival will spotlight Franklin County performers in a June benefit weekend for the Lions Club. This years theme will be Energize With Milk! June 2-5. Click here for more info.
The 45th annual Vermont Maple Festival in April is the first major outdoor festival of the year. St. Albans City and Town host three days of family education and entertainment. The Festival includes a popular talent show, the sold out fiddler's variety show, a large craft show, embraces many other community events, and offers the biggest parade in Vermont. April 15-17. TOWN BANDS
The Citizens Concert Band will celebrate its 60th year with outdoor concerts starting in June and alternating on Wednesdays between Swanton, St. Albans, and St. Albans Bay. click here for more info.
The Enosburg Town Band performs Tuesdays in the Lincoln Park Bandstand, starting in June. Call Alisa Martin (802.933.2062) for info.
Vermont Art Zine reviews Vermont exhibitions, publishes essays, and posts links to art resources, portfolios, and blogs by Vermont artists and others.
