WESTON--Artist Corliss Blakely of St. Albans opened a new one-woman show in Weston this week. Her show will include new original oil paintings, giclees, and her new iPad works. ART ON THE WALLS
"Remember years ago when I painted with watercolors?" Ms. Blakely asked. "This year, I have started painting on the iPhone and iPad. It has enabled me to paint anywhere." She was one of the earliest artists to use the new medium; she has received worldwide press for her new works.
The art show will be open daily 10 - 5 starting October 1 and continuing through October 10 in the center of the Weston Village near the Bryant House Restaurant and the Vermont Country Store. Click here for more info and to preview the paintings in the show.
ENOSBURG FALLS--The Artist In Residence Gallery features different artists each month. This month, the spotlight is on member artists Lenny Christopher, photographer; Kitten Ellison, china painter; Jim Foote, painter; and Melissa Haberman, painter.
The A.I.R. gallery hosts a free meet-the-artists reception with refreshments tonight from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The exhibit continues through the end of October.
"Good conversation and interesting people," Ms. Ellison said.
The Artist in Residence art cooperative features paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, sculpture, lamps, pottery, folk art boxes, scarves, hats and more by 45 Franklin County and surrounding area artists. It is owned and operated by the artists and sponsors. The Village Frame Shoppe is located within the coop as a resident framer. The Blue Crayon, a small private studio, is available there for individual or small group lessons. The gallery, located at 349 Main Street, is open Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
ST ALBANS--The Northwestern Medical Center Gallery hosts watercolor artist Deborah Peate this month. Ms. Peate works at NMC, and is part of an artistic family. She and her three sisters have a show together in Williston every May.
Her October exhibit includes landscapes, flowers, and still-life. The show continues through the end of this month.
The sixties may be almost over but Franklin County folks of all ages can hear the music and feel the spirit this weekend as the Opera House at Enosburg Falls presents The Mellow Yellow Experience on Saturday at 7 p.m. MAD ABOUT SAFFRON ...
"We encourage everyone to wear tie dye!" Suzanne Hull-Parent said.
The Burlington-based Mellow Yellow pays tribute to the psychedelic era with authentic renditions of music by The Beatles, Tommy James, The Monkees, the Moody Blues, The Supremes, and many more. They fill the stage with live music, outrageous costumes and a stunning multi-media video light show, just as the original bands did in the 60s. And don't forget the pair of Go Go dancers, liquid light shows, and pop-art set pieces.
The band includes Brad Daddy-O (David Cooper), vocals, Mellowyellowtron; Kenny Diggit (Ken French), guitars, keyboards, vocals; Flip Funk (Brad Sourdiffe), bass; Dusty Love (Linda Bassick), vocals, acoustic & electric guitars; Franco Sunshine (Frank Zammiello), 1965 Slingerland Red Sparkle drums.
The concert will include Children Of The Revolution (T-Rex), Hello I Love You (The Doors), Heart Full Of Soul (The Yardbirds), I Am The Walrus (The Beatles), the Neil Young anthem, Ohio (CSNY) with archival footage of the Kent State protests, and, of course, Mellow Yellow (Donovan).

The First Congregational Church of St. Albans and the Piatigorsky Foundation present world class musicians Raquela Sheeran, soprano, and David Shimoni, piano, in a free concert on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Church. PIATIGORSKY BRINGS MUSIC ALIVE
The concert features an intimate, informal hour of incredible arias.
The Piatigorsky Foundation makes live classical music part of the fabric of everyday life in towns throughout the United States with concerts in places where people would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend such performances. The concerts are entertaining and educational and take place in familiar settings where audience and artist share the joy of live music. Cellist Evan Drachman established the Foundation in 1990 in honor of his grandfather, renowned cellist Gregor Piatigorsky.

October is National Arts and Humanities Month. The activities this month make up the largest annual celebration of the arts and humanities in the nation. From arts center open houses to presidential proclamations to banners and media coverage, communities across the United States join together each October to recognize the importance of arts and culture in our daily lives.
