Is a topless Corvair a "touring car"? The Opera House at Enosburg Falls presents Carol Ann Jones & The Superchargers in their final stop on the Opera House Tour tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. The tour benefits the Vermont National Guard Charitable Foundation. TOURING
More than members of the Vermont Army and Air National Guard are serving in remote locations throughout the world. The current $75,000 VNG Charitable Foundation campaign will raise enough funds to send every deployed Vermont Guard member a care package from home that contains requested and needed items not available to our soldiers and airmen.
"We've saved the best for last!" Ms. Jones said. "Great music for a great cause and it's fun for the whole family. Plus, Andre, the amazing human fly will be there and may catch some good air."
The Superchargers have a fresh take on rockabilly, country, rock & roll, bluegrass and contemporary music. The regional band has nationally known performers: Andre Maquera on lead-guitar and backing vocals; Gary "Spud" Spaulding on drums and percussion; Thom Carvey on bass and sax; Will Patton on bass, steel guitar and mandolin and Carol Ann Jones on lead vocal and acoustic guitar. Ms. Jones' debut indie album, Out of the Blue, showcases her broad range of music from All About the Wheels to the Farmhouse Blues.
Admission is $12.50, $10 for seniors and students, and free for uniformed soldiers. Tickets are available at the door or through the Enosburg Opera House box office as well as at Community National Bank, Enosburg Pharmacy, Merchants Bank, Parkside Grill, Peoples Trust Bank, Precious Things Jewelry, Somerset Inn, and TD Banknorth in Enosburg plus Better Planet Books and the Franklin County Regional Chamber of Commerce in St. Albans. The St. Albans Artists' Guild will host a one-day workshop, Making Stained Glass, next Saturday, September 18, from 9 am - 3 p.m. The registration deadline is tomorrow. Karen Scheffler of the Sheffler Stained Glass Studio will teach the class at the Community College of Vermont in St. Albans. ART IN GLASS

WINOOSKI--The second annual WCSPC Culture Hop hosts Fiddleheads at the O'Brien Community Center tomorrow evening at 5:30 p.m. The public event includes music, performances, and food samples from different cultures. ON STAGE LIVE
Mark Sustic created Fiddleheads so young people could learn to play--or to improve their--traditional fiddles in the company of other like-minded players. The group travels, practices together, prepares for performances, and performs at community events and dances around New England.

MIDDLEBURY--The Middlebury Food Coop Harvest Festival presents Yankee Chank Saturday afternoon from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m.
With Mark Sustic on bass and percussion, the Cajun/Zydeco dance band uses traditional instruments to perform the traditional dance music of southwest Louisiana. The concert will include the two-steps and waltzes played in the dance halls and honky-tonks of Louisiana.
MIDDLEBURY--The Vermont Folklife Center hosts an Open House with Mark Sustic, Maria Naumann, Francois Clemmons, Stephanie Ashworth-Kraus and others on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

SOUTH BURLINGTON--Higher Ground with Events for Tom present Carolina Chocolate Drops at Higher Ground on Monday at 8 p.m.
The old-time string trio from Durham, North Carolina, formed in 2005 is one of the few remaining African American string bands. Rhiannon Giddens, Dom Flemons, and Justin Robinson sing and trade instruments including banjo, fiddle, guitar, harmonica, snare drum, bones, jug, and kazoo.

ST. ALBANS--Harley D's hosts the Nobby Reed Project on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Vermont's own power-blues man, Mr. Reed leads the Project in the soul-shakin'-electric Texas and Chicago blues styles with Eric Belrose, percussion; Ray Bushey, bass; and Mr. Reed on lead guitar and vocals. Call 802.527.3997 for info.

BREAKING NEWS--Scott Guptill is forming a new and still nameless band with Scott Belisle, Chris Fleury, and Todd Dunn. The four guys will first hit the stage on Halloween at Overtime Saloon in St. Albans.
A new Vermont Arts Council campaign will promote the arts in Vermont communities. The VAC Video Van will be at the Soda Plant at Burlington's Art Hop on Friday and Saturday. They want our stories of how art supports you, our businesses, or our community. The first 500 stories will get a free t-shirt. DOES ART SUPPORT YOU?

American troubadour and pre-war blues singer-songwriter Samuel James is a master of fingerstyle, slide, banjo, harmonica, and piano. His site has his tour dates (with a short bio), his music store, and slick links to his Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace accounts, and his YouTube channel.
