      Stop in for live music and more at the Fairfax Music Sessions at the Foothills Bakery in Fairfax most Saturday afternoons at 1 p.m., at various restaurants around Franklin County throughout the week, at the Bayside in St Albans Town most Sunday afternoons, and the Cambridge CoffeeHouses at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of every month.
     These gatherings bring new opportunities, gossip, "show-and-tell" and occasional workshops. The booked performances and acoustic Open Mike Nights feature music, readings, and more from the best new artists in Vermont.

ON STAGE LIVE

BURLINGTON--UVM Old Time Music Club and Young Tradition Vermont present the UVM Old Time Music Festival tomorrow through Sunday in Billings North at UVM.
      On Friday, Jaden Gladstone and Pete Sutherland open for Clelia and Rafe Stefanini at 7 p.m. Italian old-time banjo player, fiddler, guitarist, singer, and Prairie Home Companion artist Rafe Stefanini has performed throughout the United States as well as in Finland, Germany, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei. Admission by suggested donation of $20 or $10 for UVM students.
      The Contra and Square Dance on Saturday at 7 p.m. features the Mad Robin Callers Collective and the group Streak O Lean (Jim Burns, Brianna Farver, Andrew Hathaway, Julia Wayne and Mark Sustic). Admission by suggested donation of $20.
      Sunday offers Shape Note Sing led by Ian Smiley and Mayfly at 11 a.m.
      The Music Festival includes workshops on Saturday. Clelia and Rafe Stefanini will hold a fiddle workshop at 10:30 a.m. - 12 noon. Katie Trautz and Julia Wayne of Mayfly will hold a vocal harmony workshop at 1 - 3 p.m. Admission to each session is by suggested donation of $20 or $10 for UVM students.

BURLINGTON--The 5th annual Festival of Culture presents Ngomo Ya Kwetu, Viet Ngu, Gary Dulabuam, Burlington Taiko Youth Ensemble, Sambatucada, SHIDAA, White Deer Spirit Drum, Jeh Kulu Dance and Drum Theater, Pete Sutherland, Tim Cummings, the Bosnian Lilies and others in the Davis Student Center at UVM on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Art and cultural vendors will be on site as well as free, hands-on craft activities for the kids.
      The concert is a benefit for the Sarah Holbrook Community Center. Admission is by donation. Click here for more info.

ST. ALBANS--Overtime Saloon presents Damage Control playing musical hits from the 70's through today on Saturday at 9 p.m.
      "Break out your dancing shoes for a rocking fun night," Scott Guptill said.
      The band brings decades of experience to the stage. Mr. Guptill on lead guitar has played in Fractured, Furyous George, and Bad Horsey. His musical influences start with the 80s and 90s hair band era and he is a KISS fanatic. Scott Belisle, guitar, bass, drums, and vocals, is well known as a member of Fractured, High Society, 8084, and Tantrum. Influenced by Cyndi Lauper, Steven Tyler, Bruce Dickenson, and Janis Joplin, vocalist Nancy Lawrence has been singing professionally since age 16. New Jersey native Robert Caballero, guitar, performed with Sonic Riot, opened for Loudness at the Key Club, with Blacksmith, and Invitro at the Roxy, and performed at the Whiskey a GoGo and the Brick by Brick. Scott Mercure, drums, has gigged with Smokin' Gun, Care Factor Zero, Fractured, Alter Ego and filled in at times for Hang 10.

ST. ALBANS--The St. Albans Historical Museum and the Osher Lifelong Learning Series presents retired WCAX news director Marselis Parsons with a presentation of What's Next in Broadcasting? on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Mr. Parsons will look back at the changes in Vermont media over the past 40 years, examine the changes he expects to see in the future, relate anecdotes from his career in broadcasting.
      Subscribers may attend any sessions of the series. Lectures are also open to non-members for a fee of $5 per lecture. All events are held on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. in the Bliss Auditorium on the third floor at the Museum.

WATERVILLE--Cambridge Arts Council presents community dances on Saturdays at 7 p.m. in the Waterville Town Hall. The evening will feature contras, squares, circles, play parties and singing games and all dances will be taught. Bring a partner, the entire family, or come alone. Guest musicians with acoustic instruments are welcome. Admission is $5 per person and $10 for families at the door.

     Furniture maker and retired teacher Bob Gasperetti of Mount Tabor might seem an odd choice for an art site but Mr. Gasperetti's Shaker, Mission, Arts and Crafts, and original furniture is art. His work is on exhibit at the three Vermont State Craft Galleries. His site includes his portfolio with suites of images from the bedroom to dining and living rooms to the office, plus his bio, contact info, show schedule, and directions to the shop.
