ROAD TRIP--The Vermont Youth Orchestra has arranged a tour package to see the orchestra perform at the Palais Montcalm in historic Quebec City, July 4-6. Former VYO member Drake Mabry composed Diary of Perspectives for the tour. The program also includes works by Corigliano, Bernstein and Gershwin, plus two new pieces commissioned especially for the Quadricentennial celebration. Discovery, adventure and old world dance chansons characterize Champlain’s Voyage, written by music director Troy Peters. ON STAGE LIVE
The VYO will follow Samuel de Champlain’s route in reverse, starting with a concert at the Flynn on July 3, then the Palais Montcalm concerts in Quebec City. then a performance in Paris and a visit La Rochelle, the port where de Champlain initially set off for North America.
The trip price includes admission to the Vermont Youth Orchestra performance on July 5, two nights at the Marriot Courtyard Place D'Youville, a 2-hour city sightseeing tour, dinner in Old Quebec prior to the performance, and round trip travel aboard a Premier Motorcoach.

BURLINGTON--The 26th annual Discover Jazz Festival continues through Sunday at various locations in the Queen City. The lineup ranges from the deeply grooved emo-jazz of A More Perfect Union to the Zach Campbell Quintet with original music and jazz classics. In between look for Avi & Celia with The Bu-Lu Brass Band; the Blue Gardenias three-part vocal harmonies; the laid-back piano and vocal of John Cassel; the Friends of Joe Supersized; the Grippo Funk Band; Jenni Johnson doing gospel blues and swinging jazz; Will Patton; and Branford Marsalis who plays tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m. on the Flynn MainStage.
Throughout the Discover Jazz Festival, over 650 local, regional, and student musicians play free on two stages along Church Street Marketplace.

BELLOWS FALLS--The 10th annual Roots on the River Festival begins today with Sonny Landreth, Chris Smither and Josh Maiocco on stage and continues through Sunday.
The festival features headliner Canadian Fred Eaglesmith and The Flying Squirrels tomorrow and Saturday in the Big Tent at the festival grounds and Sunday at the Rockingham Meeting House plus a mix of music and events for the entire family. It is a dog- and kid-friendly event.

ESSEX--Carol Abair with family and friends (Chris, Casey, Mark, John and Carol Abair plus Karen McFeeters, Craig Anderson and Rebecca Padula play a benefit concert for the American Cancer Society in Memorial Hall tomorrow evening at 7 p.m.

JOHNSON--The Northeast Heritage Music Camp offers a diverse musical celebration of the acoustic music and folk dance traditions of New England and eastern Canada, as well as Scotland, Ireland, and the southeastern United States. Camp begins Sunday and continues through June 20 on campus at Johnson State College.
Events for Tom and River Arts presents the 5th Northeast Heritage Music Festival with the faculty from the Music Camp at River Arts in Morrisville on Sunday at 7 p.m.
The NHMC offers one week of instruction with Seamus Connolly, Sarah Hotchkiss, Alan Jabbour, Cindy Kallet, David Kaynor, Grey Larsen, Jeremiah McLane, Pete Sutherland, Peter Langston, Ken Perlman. Kimberly Fraser, Eric Favreau, Alice Berube, Tim Cummings and David Surette at Johnson State College in Johnson. The camp includes music study, concerts, contra dances and nightly jams every evening featuring camp staff.

ESSEX JUNCTION--The Lincoln Inn continues showcasing live music stars from Franklin County. The Nobby Reed Project plays WCLX Blues Night tonight; Matt Nerback and Friends host Jam Night on Tuesday; and Eagle Country Music Night features Carol Jones and the Superchargers on Wednesday, all at 7 p.m.

JEFFERSONVILLE--The Village Tavern hosts Open Mic at 8 p.m. on Thursdays.
FAIRFAX--The regular Music Session continues Saturday with acoustic instrumentalists playing traditional songs at the Foothills Bakery, 1-4:30 p.m. Admission is free by donation.

The Showcase Contest is split into two discs. The Evening Concert is on a third disc. You have the option of ordering all 3 discs or separate discs (discs are not available for individual performances). Each disc runs about two hours.
All orders should be placed through Lake Champlain Access Television. Discs are $6 each, $12 for two, or $18 for all three. Orders can be placed online or by phone (802.862.5724).
