RELEASE HER!

Saint Michael's College hosts a very special Karen McFeeters benefit concert to celebrate the release of her new album Here and Now in the McCarthy Arts Center on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The concert will support Kids on the Block-Vermont.
The concert will include her mix of contemporary folk and pop songs. Guest performers include Carol Abair, Sarah Allerton, Craig Anderson, Peter Engisch, Adam Frehm, John Gibbons, Alec Julien, Colin McCaffrey, Melissa Morrison, and Brendan Taylor.
A St. Albans native, Ms. McFeeters began her folk career at the Songwriter's Showcase at Burlington's Contois Auditorium. She has appeared in Summer Sounds, First Night--Burlington, the St. Albans Concert Series, and the Independence Day Celebration on the State House lawn. Ms. McFeeters' solo debut album, Bachelor Girl, was chosen as one of the Top 10 Best releases by Vermont Artists and her rendition of My Only Son by Carol Abair was the Times Argus' Best Song of 2007. She gives community lectures about songwriting and has taught classes through Burlington City Arts. Her music has been recorded by Rachel Bissex, Karen McFeeters, Rebecca Padula, Robert Resnik and Marty Morrissey, and Paul Webb.
100% of concert proceeds and 10% of CD sales will support Kids on the Block-Vermont, a nonprofit group that uses life-sized puppets to teach children how to keep themselves safe and healthy. Ms. McFeeters and Kids on the Block have been popular Maple Festival performers.
Admission is $12. Tickets are available in advance (802.860.3349) and at the door. Click here or click here for more info.

CALL FOR (YOUNG) MUSICIANS

The Vermont Youth Orchestra will hold annual auditions for their orchestras and choruses from May 4 through 20 at the Elley-Long Music Center at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester. The auditions are the opportunity to play music or sing with one of the VYOA orchestras or choruses. Students must participate in their school instrumental or chorus program, if one is offered. Download the 2009 auditions brochure here or call 802.655.5030 for more info.

DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE

The Village Frame Shoppe now has two locations. Their new store, at 72 N. Main Street in St. Albans, is across the street from the Garden Patch in the RSVP store. The new space has room for a complete framing shop, a blessing since the Enosburg location has limited space. The current Enosburgh store will continue operations as a "satellite" shop. Customers will be able to shop in either store and take delivery at whichever is convenient.
Dan Pattullo will frame family heirlooms, original paintings, priceless photographs from family vacations, and more. He has new projects he hopes will address the expectations of the local artist community
The St. Albans store starts the spring season with hours on Saturday 10-5 or by appointment. The Village Frame Shoppe remains the resident framer for the Artist In Residence Gallery in Enosburg Falls. That store is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10-4, each week.
