ENOSBURG FALLS--The Artist In Residence Gallery features different artists each month. This month, the spotlight is on Chepe Cuadra, ceramic sculpture and oil paintings; Josh Derner, oil paintings, pastels, and colored pencils; Alison Dubilier, clay dolls and figures; Helen Kyle, sculpture and acrylic paintings; Kelee Maddox, clay jewelry; and John Selmer, photography/digital art, whose photos look like paintings. ART ON THE WALLS
The Artist in Residence art cooperative features paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, sculpture, lamps, pottery, folk art boxes, scarves, hats and more by 45 Franklin County and surrounding area artists. It is owned and operated by the artists and sponsors. The Village Frame Shoppe is located within the coop as a resident framer. The Blue Crayon, a small private studio, is available there for individual or small group lessons. The gallery, located at 349 Main Street, is open Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
ST ALBANS--The Northwestern Medical Center Gallery continues its St. Albans Art Club exhibit for October-November. The show continues through the end of the month.
The group, which meets in the Barlow Street School in St. Albans, is instructed by Kathleen Berry Bergeron of Jericho. The Art Club is exhibiting selection of watercolor paintings by Millie Boyd, Linda Clark, Nancy Choiniere, Rita Drinkwater, Gail Grismore, Diane Lareau, Marianne Marshall, Beverly Montiel, Linda Wirts, and Ms. Bergeron.
MONTPELIER--The Will Patton Ensemble celebrates ten years together and wants us all to come to the party. It's a new CD release party, of course, for 6th Street Runaround tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Church on Main Street. RELEASE PITCHER
"It's a bit more influenced by my early days playing jazz in New York City," Mr. Patton said, "but with a lot of the same mix of Brazilian Choro and some folkie waltzes."
The concert features daughter Anna Patton on clarinet and string wizard and big Daddy Will Patton on jazz mandolin. The quartet includes Dono Schnaber, guitar; David Gusskov, violin; and Clyde Stats, bass. Every concert offers up some hot jazz, fiery Brazilian sambas, gentle choros, and original compositions. Admission is $15 for adults or $13 for seniors and students. Tickets are available at the door. The party repeats next weekend at the Vergennes Opera House (tickets for this one are available at vergennesoperahouse.org, he said).

BURLINGTON--Events for Tom presents a Tony DeMarco CD release party with Jerry Holland and other guests at FlynnSpace on Sunday at 6 p.m.
Mr. DeMarco will also hold an Irish Fiddle Workshop for intermediate to advanced players at the Burlington Violin Shop on Saturday from 3 - 4:30 p.m. F. Advance registration is required. Email for more info.
The Sligo Indians marks the solo debut of one of America's finest folk fiddlers. A Brooklynite of Irish and Italian descent, Mr. DeMarco is one of the premiere performers of the intricate County Sligo style. His playing shows off the rhythmic drive, the bowed and finger ornamentation, and significant improv in the melody.
County Sligo in the west of Ireland has a history of traditional music thanks to James Morrison, Paddy Killoran, tin-whistle player Carmel Gunning, the band Dervish, and more. The Queen Maeve International Summer School, a traditional Irish Music summer school of music and dance, is held annually in August in Sligo Town and Strandhill hosts the annual Strandhill Guitar Festival.
Immigrant Sligo fiddlers brought the style to New York where they made the hundreds of classic recordings. Mr. DeMarco began with those old 78s, then studied with leading Sligo fiddlers in New York and Ireland. He has recorded and performed with The Flying Cloud, the Kips Bay Cieli Band, Celtic Thunder, and Black 47. He played for the Smithsonian Institution Folklife Festival and has now joined with the Smithsonian to bring the music to CD.
Admission is $15 and seating is open.
WATERVILLE--Cambridge Arts Council presents Dancing with the Stars!, a family contra dance featuring caller Mark Sustic with Frank Heyburn, members of Fiddleheads, and other young musicians at the Town Hall on Saturday 7 p.m. Call 802.849.6968 or email for more info. ON STAGE LIVE
ESSEX JUNCTION--Starting this week, the Lincoln Inn shifts the music schedule around. A Bluegrass Band will play the first and third Tuesdays of each week and a Celtic music party band on the second and fourth Tuesday of each week. The Bluegrass jam will move to the first Monday of each month. Celtic Ceili's will also be moving to Monday. Nobby Reed will play next Thursday.

I didn’t want a blog--blogs are too much work. I had told everyone I know that I was not going to commit to writing regular entries for one. That said, regular readers know I wrote an op-ed column for a number of years. My blog, with a new piece ever Monday, is forcing me to do that again. The page includes links to my real business and the All Arts Council, some self aggrandizement, links to other blogs, and an easy way for visitors to start a conversation about any article.
