Stop in for live music and more at the Fairfax Music Sessions at the Foothills Bakery in Fairfax most Saturday afternoons at 1 p.m., at various restaurants around Franklin County throughout the week, at the Bayside in St Albans Town most Sunday afternoons, and the Cambridge CoffeeHouses at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of every month.

Ten Fairfax artists will hold a Fine Arts Show on Saturday only from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the Baptist Building on Main Street in Fairfax. MORE ART ON THE WALLS
The artists include Harald Aksdal, Ann Bissonette, Janet Bonneau, Joanne Delaney, Barbara Derner, Joshua Derner, Keith Gallup, Leebeth Ann Lemieux, Bruce Pendleton, and Valerie Ugro. Although this show is not a formal part of the Open Studio tour, it is a nice stop that features many of the Open Studio artists.
Admission is free.
The sixteenth annual Vermont Open Studio Weekend is this Saturday and Sunday, Memorial Day Weekend. The statewide celebration of creativity and the visual arts gives visitors an inside look at Vermont artists and craftspeople actually working in their studios. 264 sites with 288 exhibitors are open this year, including 88 people who were not on the tour last year. Many of the artists open their working studios to the public only during this weekend. It is an opportunity for them to talk about their work and to demonstrate the skill and processes used to make it. The participating artists plan to get work done as well as teach while visitors poke around. The participating artists and artisans include these spaces in and around Franklin County:
Corliss Blakely will have new oil paintings, limited edition prints, art demonstrations, paintings around her water garden, lemonade and tea sandwiches, and specials all weekend, all at her St. Albans home.
Marcia Hagwood's Chasworth Pottery and Farm is home to pottery, clay buttons, and fiber arts in Georgia.
The Artist In Residence Co-op Gallery in Enosburg Falls features paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, sculpture, lamps, pottery, folk art boxes, scarves, hats and more by 45 Franklin County and surrounding area artists. It is owned and operated by the artists and sponsors.

The Bryan Memorial Gallery offers American landscape paintings, exhibitions, and workshops in Jeffersonville.
Loraleh Harris' Wild Fibers Studio and Gallery will feature local artwork in South Hero.
Nancy Hayden has sculpture, painting, and gourd art at Northwind Studio and Gallery between Cambridge and Jeffersonville at The Farm Between.
James Holzchuh crafts bowls, tops, drop spindles, nostepindes and Ellen Thompson has shawls, scarves, handspun yarns, and angora goats, all at Yellow Dog Farm in South Hero.
Lorraine C. Manley paints colorful impressionist works in oil and acrylic in her Milton studio. Also showing at this location is Kathleen A. Manley with realistic, pastoral, New England landscapes.
Ed Racicot's Vermont Art Sinks in Westford has stoneware sinks, pottery, and vanities.
Ralph Tursini builds unique green-turned wooden bowls at Tursini Woodturning and Bowl Works in Cambridge.
Other statewide participants include furniture makers, glass blowers, ironworkers, jewelers, quilters painters, potters, print makers, sculptors, weavers, and wood carvers. Many galleries will host gallery talks and feature special exhibits in conjunction with this event.
Directions to the area studios are also in the sidebar but the easiest way to find these artists remains unchanged. Get somewhere near each studio and follow the yellow signs. Admission is free.

Public Square on Vermont Public Television, Channel 33, brings the spotlight to Vermont's Creative Economy this evening at 8 p.m. The hour-long program will use film clips to the growing successes in the participating Vermont communities. Host Kristin Carlson will lead a panel discussion about using local cultural assets to attract and keep the inventors and entrepreneurs who drive economic development. The guests include Hal Colston, Founder of the Good News Garage; UVM Doctoral candidate Denise Dunbar; Latina journalist, blogger, and author Ann Hagman-Cardinal, Director of Marketing at Vermont College of Fine Arts; and Curtiss Reed, Executive Director of ALANA Community Organization in Brattleboro. Vermont Public Television produces Public Square to address issues of interest to Vermonters.
