Stop in for the AAC CoffeeHouses at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month. These gatherings bring new opportunities, gossip, "show-and-tell" and workshops. We come together on the second Wednesday for a booked musical performance and an art exhibit at Simple Pleasures in St Albans. On the fourth Wednesday come to the Kept Writer in St Albans for acoustic Open Mike Night featuring music, readings, and more from the best new artists in Vermont.

Corliss Blakely, Vermont's premier fine artist, portrays the homes, farms, and antiques of her Vermont ancestors in oil. Her new signed and numbered limited edition "smaller" prints are available at Rail City Market for $25 matted or $50 in a gold antique hardwood frame. The new Counterpoint Christmas CD has some great southwestern Christmas music, a Swedish carole, a Puerto Rican carole, and an African Christmas song, as well as Away in the Manger. "It truly is a 'Christmas around the world CD'!" Claire Hungerford said. It is available at As The Crow Flies, the Dressing Room, the Kept Writer, and Rail City Market for $16.
My own photographs show the landscapes, architecture, and the whimsy of Vermont. Snowed Out shows an abandoned winter milkhouse. The 11" x 14" full color photograph in a 14" x 18" hardwood frame costs $60. Total Wendiness is a limited edition full color digital image of a Golden Retriever rolling in the snow. Rail City Market has framed whimsical photographs by April Henderson for sale. Her sugar wood scenes include Out of the Woods. The matted and framed photos are sized from 5" x 7" to 11" x 14". Prices range from $20-$60.
Natalie LaRocque-Bouchard offers several paintings including Cradle the Child. A close-up of a white rose with its center petals protecting the vital center of developing seeds, this acrylic on canvas is about 36" x 48" and costs $400. Ms. LaRocque-Bouchard also hand-paints Vermont Welcome slates with Vermont scenery--mountains and lakes or small animals, and florals--and Welcome painted in script. Available for $25 at L.G. Photographer and Kept Writer owner Jedd Kettler has hand printed black-and-white nature and architectural photos "and a couple of musicians." Sizes range from 8" x 10" to 11" x 16". They are available at the Kept Writer Bookstore and Cafe.
Writer, chef, and fabric artist Ann Levy's Acts of Living: A Cooking Journal for the Culinarily Challenged is offered by Little Apple Press, P.O. Box 14, St. Albans, VT. AAC members can have an autographed copy of Acts of Living mailed to any U.S. address for $21 (a $29.70 value). Gift wrap is $4 extra.
Blues singer/songwriter Nobby Reed offers Every Mile, his fourth CD, for $15 at As the Crow Flies, Better Planet, The Music Shop, and, of course, Swanton Sunoco as well as online at NobbyReed.com (don't forget to sign the guest book).
Singer, graphic artist, photographer, sound producer, and AAC treasurer Tim Stetson has introduced a new series of digital photographs including Bridge Over Falling Water, the bridge of Flowers and Lights in Enosburg Falls with the Missisquoi waterfall in the background. Flyin' South is a flight of geese among the sky and clouds. The images are 8" x 10", matted to 11" x 14". Matted only for $35, matted and framed, $50. A River's Journey, the debut album by 16 year old pianist/composer Jocelyn Woods, is a collection of her own intimate compositions plus selections from the romantic repertoire. Lauren L. Young has a new line of framable Holiday Greeting Cards for $3.50 each at Enosburg Pharmacy or at Lauren's Lyrics, 584 Main Street, in Enosburg Falls. Her Poetic treasures are 9" x 12" and cost $10.95 each. She also does unique custom orders "to last forever." $49.95 without picture and $59.95 with picture.

The Opera House at Enosburg Falls presents three one-act Christmas plays on Friday evening. The new EFHS Drama Department productions of Hillbilly Christmas, Baddest Angel, and The Gift of the Magi are produced and directed by drama teacher Linda Collins. OPERA HOUSE CONCERT
A takeoff on Scrooge, the Hillbilly Christmas takes place in the Ozarks. Damien Desroches plays the Scrooge and the widow Hinkley is performed by Chelsea Kane.
Matt Goss is head angel in a play about three angels trying to get into Heaven. The Baddest Angels are Corey Tibbets, Laura Turner, and Allison Dennis.
"The 'Gift of the Magi' follows the O'Henry story fairly well," said Ms. Collins. It features Matt Stebbins and Lindsay Wilkens.
There will musical interludes between each piece. "It's kind of a surprise," Ms. Collins said. This investigative column discovered that Bill Gaston is among the surprisingly good entertainers.

ST ALBANS--The Kept Writer presents Josh Magis with his soulful, contemporary folk songs on Friday at 7 p.m. This month "on the walls," the Kept Writer features creative arrangements of dried flowers and found objects by Lisa Martin from Jeffersonville. ON STAGE LIVE
WATERVILLE--The Cambridge Arts Council presents the Firefly Production The Holidays (Some Assembly Required) by Vance Edwards and Jeff Lukas on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Waterville Town Hall. This hysterical play looks at the holiday spirit gone awry, from a Barbie Dream House to Captain Christmas.

The Wolf-Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts provides arts-in-education services in drama, music, and movement for children from 3-5 as well as for their teachers and families. It was founded in 1981. The site includes information about residencies and workshops and regional programs plus a host of sample activities, field trips, online resources, and a teacher newsletter.
