There is a free AAC Networking Meeting/Coffee House at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month. These gatherings bring new opportunities, gossip, and workshops every month at Simple Pleasures in St Albans.
Singer Evelyn Kwanza will perform at the All Arts CoffeeHouse at Simple Pleasures Cafe Thursday, August 3, at 7 p.m. The fine art photography of AAC member Wayne Tarr will be on exhibit. The artwork will remain at Simple Pleasures through August 31. AAC COFFEEHOUSE
Evelyn studied voice at Oberlin Conservatory and received her M.M.Ed from New England Conservatory. She has performed as a soloist and in the Tulsa Opera Chorus, VSO Chorus, Champlain Chorus, and Burlington Ecumenical Gospel Choir. She is lead vocalist for TruanT and has planned a program of Spirituals.
Photographer Wayne Tarr specializes in portraiture. Named the Most Promising Newcomer by the Vermont Professional Photographers in 1994, he also won a Court of Honor award for Quiet Moment, and recently received the Mack Derick Memorial Award. Wayne will exhibit Bittersweet, Solo, and the full color Storm Approaching St Albans.
The All Arts Council sponsors the CoffeeHouse with music, networking time, and "show-and-tell" at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month. Admission is always free, but donations are appreciated.
Got Milk Summer Sounds doubles up in Highgate and Richford this Sunday. The concerts are always on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m., always in a town park, and always free. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and settle to enjoy outdoor family music and festivities. SUMMER SUMMER SOUNDS SOUNDS
HIGHGATE--This Sunday, Chevalier Drilling presents a double header as Blue Sky opens for Dark Horse in the Highgate Municipal Park. Dark Horse is well known in Franklin County after tremendous performances at the Vermont Dairy Festival and the Swanton Festival.
Blue Sky is an "eclectic acoustic band doing Led Zeppelin, the Allman Brothers, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, the Beatles" and more, said AAC member and art teacher Pat Murphy, lead guitar. He, Chris Conte, rhythm guitar, and Mike Willey, bass, have played together for about three years. Blue Sky competed at the Vermont Dairy Festival and plays regularly around northwestern Vermont.
Dark Horse is a five-piece country band with two guitars, bass, drums, and keyboards for a mix of six string lead, double lead, rhythm, slide, and acoustic twelve string, keyboards and multi-layered string sections, brass samples, Hammond organs, grand pianos, and more. All five members sing lead and the band is unique in its complex, five part harmony. And the keyboardist wails on sax and flute.
This band has classically trained musicians with Berkeley School of Music graduate Bob Berger of Swanton, lead guitar; Tom Berrings, keyboards and a great sax and flute; Mark Hutchinson bass, plays country, rock, jazz, and funk; his brother, the "young and good looking," Jeff Hutchinson, drums; and the he Dark Horse (or the Walrus, koo koo ka choo), Rick Leggett, acoustic and electric guitar, slide, lead, and rhythm, sings lead on many of the ballads.
Just before the concert, stop by for Dessert in the Park at the St Luke's Episcopal Church social starting at 6 p.m. The social hour is a chance to visit with friends, eat some delicious desserts and help out the Teen Center and the Organ Fund; don't forget to add an extra notch to your belt.
RICHFORD--The Davis Park Gazebo will really rock as the Blouin's IGA, the Pinnacle Peddler, and The Crossing and the River Street House of Pizza the classic rock of Mister French at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
The Got Milk Summer Sounds concerts are underwritten by the Dairy Farmers of Vermont and the All Arts Council. The Highgate series is presented by the Town of Highgate, and sponsored by Champlain Valley International, Chevalier Drilling, Dexter Products, O. C. McCuin & Sons, Ray's Extrusion Dies & Tubing, and The Tyler Place. The bonus series is presented by the Town of Richford and sponsored by Franklin General Store, Franklin Telephone, Dick Wright Ford, Wright Excavating; Blouin's IGA, Pinnacle Peddler, The Crossing, and the River Street House of Pizza.
The four piece Mister French plays the best rock music from the 60s and 70s including the music of the Beatles, Doors, Stevie Wonder, ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Van Morrison, and Led Zeppelin.
Gary "Buddah" Norful, keyboards and vocals, Jeff Wheel, guitar and vocals, Tim O'Brien, drums, and Jimmy "Oxo" Carter, 6-string bass guitar have been together for about three years but have nearly a century of collective music experience. Oxo is well known for playing in the Jimmy Carter Show, Sass, Uncle Sam, and Run21. "We have an incredible array of tasteful classic rock," said Jeff Wheel.
The Richford Historical Society will host a social starting at 6 p.m., while the band tunes up, and ongoing through the concert. The Historical Society is raising money for their exhibits; bring your sweet tooth and your wallet.
The rain sites are the Highgate Arena and the Town Hall in Richford. The community based All Arts Council brings the performing arts to northwestern Vermont.

The AAC features the fine art and photography of Alice Astleford, Diana Herder Bennett, Bob Brodeur, Corliss Blakely, Alan Dumont, Janice Geraw, Mary Harper, April Henderson, Doug Houle, David Juaire, Beth Maginn, Joy Mashtare, Faith Newton, Meredith Roberts, and Wayne Tarr and more.
Art in the Park is free and open to the public in the Swanton Village Park, both Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The Historical Society show also includes an exhibit of photographs and memorabilia and a craft fair and flea market.
ENOSBURG FALLS--The Woods Tea Company appears as part of the Millennium Series at the Opera House at Enosburg Falls on Friday, August 11. Tickets are $9 for adults, $7.50 for seniors and students, and $5 for children 12 and under. Advance sales earn a $1 discount at Swanton Rexall, Spears Pharmacy, and Merchants Bank in Enosburg. Poland's rich history is a major driver of European cultural history. The permanent collection of the National Museum in Warsaw includes 780,000 items displayed nine galleries. Other exhibitions and special collections are available in special reading-and-seeing rooms The museum boasts the largest Polish scholarly library of art catalogues, art history books, books on the cultures of almost all over the world, and a fine collection of old maps and prints.
