There is a free AAC Networking Meeting/Coffee House at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month. These gatherings bring new opportunities, gossip, and workshops every month at the The Northwest Transportation Network office in St Albans.
The St. Albans Area Community Arts Network and the Flynn Theater have brought the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange back to Vermont this week. Hallelujah, a unique national project, will greet the new millennium with story, song and dance. LOCOMOTION MEETS HALLELUJAH!
The company has visited the St. Albans community several times over the past two years, working with people of all ages to gather what the community is "In Praise of...." They found a community very proud of its history. Local artists Judith Karstens, Manon Pellman, and Gail Salzman continued the project in April, creating Locomotion 2, a community performance of the visual and movement arts.
Dance Exchange members led the Finding Your Voice, Using Your Body workshop on Tuesday and held a free public reception to showcase Liz Lerman and her new work, Hallelujah! Wednesday evening in St Albans.
Introducing Hallelujah continues tonight (November 11) with a community movement workshop, 6:30-9 p.m. at the Sun Dance Studio, Chase Mill, Burlington. Tickets are $12 at the door. Call 652-4500 for info.
The project is underwritten by a four-year grant from the Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Audiences for the Performing Arts Network.
Each exhibit in the third annual Holiday Crafts and Fine Art Tour showcases a different group of fine artists and artisans from around the area. The tour includes five shows in Franklin County on Saturday, November 20. CALL FOR ARTISTS

The All Arts Council and the Sugar Mill Antiques Mall will hold a special Christmas show and sale upstairs in the Sugar Mill Art Gallery over Thanksgiving weekend. Space is limited. e-mail the All Arts Council for information.

The Vermont Millennium Arts Project hosts its first statewide gathering and conference, November 21-22 at the Killington Grand Summit Hotel.
Teachers, artists, musicians and administrators have participated in the online arts education program all year. The conference offers workshops on hardware, website and software demonstrations, and roundtable exchanges about teaching strategies. The fee is $40.00 for the two day event. ST ALBANS Jenni Johnson returns tonight to present the jumping jazz of Billie Holiday, Nate King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Bessie Smith, and Ella Fitzgerald at Chow Bella!. Grand Isle printmaker Roy Newton is also hanging around with a display of handmade jazz prints at ChowBella! BARRE--8084 has a busy weekend, starting Friday at Gusto's at 9 p.m. and continuing with a show at the White Mountain Chalet in Berlin, NH, Saturday at 9 p.m.
NEWPORT--The Nobby Reed Project returns the blues to Jaspers Saturday. "A lot of people think the blues is down music but there's a strong upside to my music," Nobby said.
ST ALBANS--Jeff's Seafood has watercolors by Larry Lohmann of Shelburne, through November 30. The retired newspaper reporter paints mostly Vermont landscapes.
ST ALBANS--Northwestern Medical Center has the floral and pastoral Vermont oil and watercolor paintings of Elva Ruggiano. Through November 30, in the main lobby gallery at NMC.
719 area students toured Artrain and about 150 students from all around the state took part in the entire NASA MAEL "hands on/minds on" exercise during the week. The major public events hosted 1,760 at the Artrain. RAILROAD DAYS WRAP UP
I met St Albans Town School students Caitlin and Casara at the NASA MAEL. They had enjoyed a brief tour with their class and returned on their own time for a more in-depth visit. Cool. I also talked to people from Alburg, Montpelier and Brattleboro in town to visit Artrain.
Jane Berry of the Fairfield Community Center saw lots of parents with their children at the Artrain. "It was really great to hear the parents reminisce with their children, sharing their own history," she said.
Events like Railroad Days are impossible without the strong support of the community. The City of St Albans provided exceptional services, facilities, and support. Volunteers from area schools, the Arts Council, Channel 10, Franklin Lamoille Bank, Garden Club, Modern Woodmen, Moose Lodge, New England Central, Rotary Club, St Albans CAN, the St Albans Chamber, and the Vermont National Guard all worked to make the event a success.
We are continuing our fundraising effort to help pay for the Artrain visit.

The program director and morning host at wrote a two-part series about the choices a program director must make to create an ideal playlist for his station.
