Palettes of Franklin County, Vermont

PALETTE PARTY AUCTION
the Final Event

PALETTES FOR SALE OR RENT

No rooms to let, though, and we'd better raise more than 50 cent.
The final chapter of the Palettes of Franklin County, Vermont, project has begun as the All Arts Council and St. Albans for the Future announced the great Palette Party Auction. This benefit event will take place at the St. Albans Historical Society on Saturday, October 7.
Bard      "There are about 130 palettes available," said S.A.F.F. Executive Director Karen Bresnahan. "The palettes will be auctioned off via 'Silent Auction' at the Bliss Auditorium." The Franklin County palettes use many media -- paint, pastels, paper, ink, fabric, leather, photography, and more.
Schakow     The Palette Party Auction will include jazz music, hors d'oeuvres, and a cash bar as well as age appropriate refreshments. Five palettes as well as other prizes, will be raffled off during the course of the evening. Each guest will receive one free raffle ticket at the door (more will be available for purchase).
"We will raffle the five special palettes every half hour," AAC Chair Dick Harper said. The evening will end with a final tally of winning bids for the remaining 125 available palettes in the silent auction. The proceeds will benefit the arts programs of SAFF and the AAC.
Young     Palettes of Vermont was conceived by Brandon folk artist Warren Kimble as a project open to all Vermonters; it has united communities and individual Vermonters through the arts since January. Artists in most communities around the state have donated their finished works to arts and other community organizations to help fund arts and cultural projects.
Casavant     One of the Vermont Arts Council's palatable goals has been to help artists connect with local groups through the Palettes project. The Council applauds "all the artists who have made these connections and are donating their palette for sale or auction to benefit a local project!"
Bower     The Franklin County project began at the Maple Festival and continues through the October auction. The newest palettes are on display at City Hall and around St Albans now. Silent auction bid sheets accompany each palette in the St. Albans downtown exhibits; the highest bids will win the palettes at the closing event on October 7. Bid early and bid high. You might be able to "close out" other bidders.
The Palette Party Auction on Saturday, October 7, at 4-7 p.m. is free to the public. All ages are invited. It will be held in the newly restored Bliss Auditorium at the top of the St Albans Historical Museum. Click here for listings and info.

Special Note: The World's Largest Palette will be auctioned separately in an eBay event later this year.
World's Largest Palette     It takes an entire community to pull off a World Record effort such as this one. AAC Chair Dick Harper conceived the project in early 2006. Artists Natalie LaRocque-Bouchard and Alisha LaRocque created the art. Harper, Ray Rose, and the Sticks & Stuff team built it. 532 people painted the community image of a butterfly side at the Maple Festival. Almost 100 more professional and community artists painted the canvas on the obverse side at Open Studio Weekend. That canvas will remain here as a public art exhibit and part of the community heritage.
The World's Largest Palette made its public debut at the 40th annual Vermont Maple Festival in St. Albans, Vermont. About 50,000 visitors saw it.

The statewide project is sponsored by Chittenden Bank, Casella Waste Systems, and National Endowment on the Arts, Times Argus, NRG Systems, VermontVacation.com, and Vermont Wood Manufacturers Association, with promotional support from the Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing. Fournier Farm Equipment, Franklin County Regional Chamber of Commerce, New England Central Railroad, People's Trust Company, the St. Albans Historical Museum, Sticks & Stuff, and Union Bank.
