ENOSBURG--"You'll want to think twice before crossing this family" as the Opera House at Enosburg Falls hosts a Murder Mystery Dinner Theater at the House on Saturday at 5 p.m. THEATER
The $120 ticket price includes the mysterious Murder in an Italian restaurant and an Italian dinner for two. The night of food and whodunit entertainment supports the Opera House and Cat Crusaders of Franklin County. A cash bar and silent auction are available. Click here for tickets and more info.
MONTPELIER--A new Abenaki mural fills the wall at the Montpelier Transit Center. Missisquoi Abenaki artist Abena Songbird was the lead designer and one of the painters with two other Abenaki artists and three Ojibwe artists. Nulhegan Abenaki artist Lucy Cannon Neel was the secondary designer. The 17 foot by 27 foot Nd'ôlemôwzibna ("We Continue to Live") has seasonal images of Abenaki culture encircling drummers within a loop of braided sweetgrass to promote "unity, joy, and healing." JEFFERSONVILLE--"It's a wonderful sunny morning, you decide to go on a walk" in a story inspired by Susan Bill Riley's Late October Light on the Winooski River at Bryan Memorial Gallery on Facebook and in the gallery.

MILTON--The 19th annual Milton Artists Guild ArtFest "jumpstarts holiday shopping" at MAG on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. The giant sale will have work from over 165 local artists and crafters, plus live music, wine tasting, food from local favorites, a special raffle, wine wall raffle, and more. ST. ALBANS--14th Star Brewing Company holds the weekly Maker's Market in the Taproom on Sunday from 1 - 3 p.m. The pop-up booths host local crafters and makers every Sunday afternoon. Find them on Facebook for more info.
MILTON--Sylvia Oblak leads Harvest Paint and Sip at the Milton Artists' Guild this evening at 6 p.m. The step by step guidance includes painting harvest pumpkins, threading fairy lights into the painting, and then glueing your choice of a variety of fall decorative pieces onto the canvas. The cost is $45 for members and $50 for non-members. Feel free to bring your own snacks and beverages. ART YOU CREATE

SWANTON--The Swanton Free Public Library offers a free Cricut for Beginners class with Barb Switzer in the Maker Space on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Ms. Switzer will show how to navigate the Cricut Design Space, how to manipulate a design, how to upload a design from Cricut and other online sites, and practice on a simple project. Attendees must set up a free Cricut Design Space account before class. The class is free thanks to a grant from the Swanton Arts Council. WORKSHOPS & CLASSES

MILTON--The Milton Artists' Guild has two more events this week.
Social Sundays continue at the Milton Artists' Guild Art Center with free weekly art classes for families at MAG on Sunday at 1 p.m. Each week offers a different project. Stay for 30 minutes or the whole two hours. Click here for more info.

COVID-19 is still here. There were 9 new hospital admissions in Franklin County last week. COVID NEWS
Vaccines are available for COVID, the Flu, and RSV, the three main viruses that cause people to end up in a hospital in the Fall and Winter respiratory virus season but, as of Sunday, Vermont had received just 28,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine since the new formula was approved in September. The state Department of Health says it hasn't been enough to supply demand at doctor's offices across the state. According to the state COVID-19 and Flu Vaccination Dashboard just 5% of Franklin County residents have received the new COVID vaccine, trailed only by Essex and Windsor Counties.
COVID vaccines are 100% free to everyone 6 months and older living in the United States, regardless of immigration or insurance status. The free shots are available via health insurance, Medicare, and through federally qualified health centers, pharmacies participating in the federal Bridge Program, or district health department offices. Free masks are also available at many of the same locations. Click here for more info.
Pharmacies get vaccines by purchasing them directly from drug manufacturers or through separate federal programs, so their supplies are not as limited.
Every U.S. household may again order four free COVID-19 rapid tests delivered directly to your home. The state and many municipalities also still have home antigen tests, available in libraries and town halls or food pantries. Click here for more info.
Some health plans will also offer partial coverage of COVID-19 treatments such as Paxlovid but that will be plan dependent. As always, check with your insurer for specific information on your plan.
The Health Department still recommends following best practices. Call 855.722.7878 or visit healthvermont.gov for more info about the first or second dose and for booster shots of the vaccine.
My own plan remains unchanged, especially since our precautions have waned and the new COVID variant dodges our current immunity. I got the COVID and Flu shots, and the boosters, and I still take precautions because neither vaccine nor "natural immunity" is 100% foolproof. I wash my hands. I double mask with a genuine N95 mask (not a bandana and not a "chin strap") plus a surgical mask where ever I can't control the airflow. It isn't much of a burden and it mostly protects me from all the people without masks I see in stores and concerts.

ST. ALBANS--Thirsty Thursdays continue with Open Mic Night at 14th Star Brewery this evening at 6:30 p.m. Will the next local star be born there tonight? Thursdays at 14th Star feature alternating interactive music nights with Music Bingo, Open Mic, or Karaoke.
BURLINGTON--Foam Brewers presents the Paul Asbell Trio on Thursday at 8 p.m.
The small, independent craft brewery has live music most days. Jazz Thursdays feature some of the Queen City's best jazz musicians. Times vary. Click here for more info.

ALBANS--14th Star presents NightHawk returning by popular demand for a night of live music in The Room on Veterans' Day at 6 p.m. Kyra Maddix, vocals; Ray Parent, guitars and vocals; Mike Maddix, bass and vocals; and Pete Lawrence, drums and vocals rock n roll all night long. ST. ALBANS--The Depot will rock out to the songs of the 90s live with Neon 90s on Saturday night at 9 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--Church Street Sounds of the Season presents pianist David Feurzeig, joined by clarinetist Elisabeth LeBlanc, as part of his Play Every Town tour at First Congregational Church on Sunday at 3 p.m. Composer and pianist, Mr. Feurzeig plays music from Scarlatti to Ragtime. Peppered with commentary, his programs change how audiences hear all kinds of music.
