RESTART NEWS

Vermont's COVID surge continues; the state broke its record for new COVID infections the last three weeks in a row. Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center has banned visitors for most of its patients. Middlebury College has changed to "remote learning" for the rest of the semester after a surge in COVID infections on campus.
Vermont reported 3,143 new COVID-19 cases last week. Franklin County reported 518 cases in the 14 days ending Sunday. The seven-day moving average positivity rate has increased most periods since July and ended last week at 4.9%
Here's my own advice. Immunity is beginning to wane for many of us, leading to new infections and increased transmission of the virus. Get the COVID and Flu shot(s), get the booster, and take precautions. No vaccine is 100% foolproof. Wash your hands. Wear a mask where you can't control the airflow around you until we reach the same herd immunity we have for smallpox and once had but lost for measles. Bonus: it will also help protect you from pollen, summer colds, and the winter flu.
Vaccination clinics for booster shots and for the first or second dose of vaccine are open across Vermont for anyone age 5 or older. 16 and 17 year olds can now register online for Pfizer boosters. Call 855.722.7878 or click here to make an appointment or for more info. You can also walk-in at Costco, CVS, Hannaford, Price Chopper/Market 32, Rite Aid, Shaw's, Walgreens, or Walmart, or get an appointment with CVS, Kinney Drugs, Walgreens, or UVMMC Outpatient Pharmacies.

JEFFERSONVILLE--Bryan Memorial Gallery continues Let's Find Out, an online series that explores the 17 artists on display in their 2021 Legacy Collection. Artist Daryl Storrs is featured this week.
The gallery is open Thursday - Sunday, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Call the gallery (802.644.5100) or find them on Facebook for more info.

STOWE--The new Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum exhibit, The Art of the Graphic, is now open. Manufacturing technology and new materials have led the evolution of ski and snowboard performance, but how boards look is just as important to many skiers and riders. The exhibit looks at the art and the artists on some skis and boards. The show includes original sketches and artwork, plus the finished boards and skis.
The museum is open Thursday - Sunday, noon - 5 p.m. The exhibit will continue through October, 2022. Click here for more info.

WORKSHOPS & CLASSES

MILTON--The Milton Artists' Guild will host Grant Writing 101 with instructor Corrina Thurston as part of their ongoing series of online seminars this evening at 6 - 8 p.m. Art is a business. This online workshop for beginners will cover the basics of how to write a compelling grant and make that next grant proposal more competitive. Learn where to find grants, how to format them, how to write persuasively, and how to make a proposal stand out from the crowd.
The cost is $30 for members or $35 for non-members. Click here to reserve a space.
