CD RELEASE!

Carol Ann Jones has released her new CD, Let's Fly Away.
"Like my other acoustic album, Hope, this album is a collection of songs I wrote for family and friends," she said. There are also two poems she set to music, Visions of Vermont, written by Patrick Bradley, and Moon Song by the classic poet Mildred Plew Meigs. Colin McCaffrey plays and sings harmony on the album and produced it at The Green Room. It was mastered by Andre Maquera at West Street Digital. It is the fifth album they have finished together.
Let's Fly Away is available in person at Exit 18 Equipment and Georgia Market and at the Milton Artist Guild and digitally on iTunes and the other popular streaming services.

RESTART NEWS

Nearly 72% of Vermont residents are fully vaccinated but the state is experiencing its worst COVID-19 surge yet. In fact, Vermont has one of the lowest levels nationwide of people who have developed natural immunity, largely because the virus has stayed at such low levels throughout the entire pandemic. And waning immunity among the vaccinated is helping Delta grab hold. Vermont reported 2,219 new COVID-19 cases last week, more than double the 1,097 reported the week before.
Case rates in residents who are not fully vaccinated are nearly four times higher than in fully vaccinated residents. Essex County, the least-vaccinated county in the state, is reporting the highest case rates of any county in Vermont, with 127.5 new daily cases per 100K. In Grand Isle County next door, with the highest vaccination rate in the state and the lowest infection rate, the case count is 21.7 new daily cases per 100K. Franklin County which reported 460 cases in the 14 days ending Sunday had 76.1 new daily cases per 100K.
Here's my own advice. Immunity is beginning to wane for many of us, leading to mild infections and increased transmission of the virus. Get the COVID and Flu shot(s), get the booster, and take precautions. No vaccine is 100% foolproof. Wash your hands. Wear a mask where you can't control the airflow around you until we reach the same herd immunity we have for smallpox and once had but lost for measles. Bonus: it will also help protect you from pollen, summer colds, and the winter flu.
Vaccination clinics for booster shots and for the first or second dose of vaccine are open across Vermont for anyone age 12 or older. Call 855.722.7878 or click here to make an appointment or for more info. You can also walk-in at Costco, CVS, Hannaford, Price Chopper/Market 32, Rite Aid, Shaw's, Walgreens, or Walmart, or get an appointment with CVS, Kinney Drugs, Walgreens, or UVMMC Outpatient Pharmacies. The state is also looking for volunteers to join Vermont's Medical Reserve Corps to help at COVID-19 vaccination sites. People can help even if they are not trained medical professionals. Click here to join the Medical Reserve Corps and for more info.

ON THE BOOKSHELF

ST. ALBANS--The Eloquent Page celebrates the release of Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone by Diana Gabaldon on Tuesday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Talking to your bees is a very old Celtic custom. The newest book in her Outlander series of novels which focus on Jamie Fraser and Claire Beauchamp Randall Fraser. It is set in 1779 and, at last, Claire and Jamie are reunited with their daughter Brianna, son-in-law Roger, and their family, and living together on Fraser's Ridge. Having the family together is a dream the Frasers had thought impossible. And it shows that "the past may seem the safest place to be ... but it is the most dangerous time to be alive.".
"There will be shortbread, music and plenty of books." Click here for more info.
