MORRISVILLE--River Arts celebrates this Halloween with a Mask Making workshop for the in-person, October "Sip n' Slurry creative experience" as the pottery twist on a Paint n' Sip on Friday at 6 p.m. BYOB. Instructor Jude Prashaw and Lisa Wolfgang will lead crafting functional and sculptural vessels while teaching hand building techniques. The bar is not serving due to COVID restrictions. Despite continuing the Delta surge, Gov. Phil Scott said last week, "the data shows [the vaccines] significantly reduce cases among the vaccinated, with less than 1% of vaccinated Vermonters becoming a case. And importantly, only three-tenths of a percent of vaccinated Vermonters have been hospitalized. RESTART NEWS
"The vaccine is also reducing the overall case fatality rate, which is now below 0.5%... The data is clear: By not getting vaccinated you are more likely to get sick from COVID and you are much more likely to spread it to others... Each of us, whether vaccinated or not, need to step up and do our part to protect the old and sick in our lives." And the others around us.
Vermont reported 1,238 new COVID-19 cases last week. Franklin County reported 239 cases in the 14 days ending Sunday. Unvaccinated Vermonters are still three to four times more likely than vaccinated Vermonters to contract COVID-19 according to the Vermont Department of Health. Vermont has adopted the CDC Guidance around masks.
Here's my own, still current, advice. Get the shot(s) and take precautions. The vaccines are extraordinarily effective but nothing is 100% foolproof. Wash your hands. Wear a mask where you can't control the airflow around you until we reach the same herd immunity we have for smallpox and once had but lost for measles. Bonus: it will also help protect you from pollen, summer colds, and the winter flu.

JEFFERSONVILLE--Bryan Memorial Gallery begins Let's Find Out, a new, online piece to explore the 17 artists on display in their 2021 Legacy Collection. Artist Zufar Bikbov is featured this week. ART ON THE WALLS

SWANTON--The Swanton Arts Council will hold a Board Meeting and Updates in person at the Swanton Free Public Library on Monday at 6 p.m. They'll even introduce Unicorn Spit. IN THE SAC

Must come in costume or pajamas. $7 cover charge. Next up, the Depot hosts the HalloQueen Evening Drag Show on Friday night at 8 p.m. with a repeat performance on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. Meet and greet after the show with the performers. Come dressed in your favorite Halloween attire.

ST. ALBANS--Eleven will classically rock Backstreet's Annual Halloween Party to "bring back the spook in downtown" on Friday beginning at the very late (for them) and spooky hour of 9 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--Spooky Saturday returns to Downtown Saturday beginning about 9 a.m. The day includes Spooky Organ Music at the First Congregational Church and the Nightmare at City Hall with spooky animatronics. There will be a pumpkin carving contest and trick-or-treating all over Downtown. The Eloquent Page has Spookley story-time with Ernie. And there will be goodies in Taylor Park and a Costume Contest with prizes. Find them on Facebook for more info.
EAST FAIRFIELD--The live Meeting House on the Green Concerts continue with Summer Sounds favorites the Oleo Romeos in a benefit for the Fairfield Community Center live on Saturday at 5 p.m. "Tyrone Shaw, Will Patton, Jerry Bowers, and George Lewis will deliver an off-kilter show that's sure to please."
Admission is by suggested donation of $10 or more at the door with those under 16 admitted free. Fall concerts are held indoors with COVID precautions in place, masks required, and limited seating available. "Grab and go" light fare will be available for sale or bring your own picnic. ST. ALBANS--Best selling, popular writer James Patterson is running his holiday bookseller bonus program again. It's a chance to nominate the best of local bookstore owners or employees for their dedication to keeping words in a row (and more) in our hands. Mr. Patterson has pledged $250,000 of his own money to be distributed in $500 grants, to 500 booksellers from ABA member bookstores. FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF
