The updated executive order extended the State of Emergency in Vermont to July 15. Vermont state parks opened Friday. Social gatherings have increased to 75 people inside a building and up to 150 people outdoors. Indoor dining in restaurants is limited to the greater of 50% of regular occupancy limits and outdoor dining is allowed at maximum licensed seating capacity, up the social gathering limits. 63,865 people (about 10% of the Vermont population) have been tested although a negative test result last month is not an indicator of a retest now. CANCELLATION (AND RESTART) NEWS
The state 14-day quarantine limit continues although Vermont is expanding the trusted travel map. Out-of-staters who drive to Vermont from a county in the Northeast plus Delaware, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington D.C. with less than 400 cases per million population do not have to quarantine but others, especially those from high-risk areas, apparently do.
Vermont plans to reopen K-12 classrooms in the fall. Some Vermont museums will reopen for summer. The Saint Albans Museum has delayed its traditional seasonal opening but their "virtual doors" are open.
The Snow Farm Concert Seriesis back. They will sell tickets in advance, starting the Friday before each concert. Evenings at the Meeting House will host at least one concert each month, July-October, starting with the Will Patton Ensemble on July 17. "We're hopeful this will all work out," Nance Shaw said.
Vermont has canceled all county fairs, field days, and festivals for 2020. The 30th annual Summer Sounds concert series will return in 2021. 20/20 Visions, the Montgomery Center for the Arts Summer Art Show and Fundraiser, summer shows at Burton Island, the summer season of the Citizens Concert Band, the entire 2020 season at the Opera House at Enosburg Falls, the entire Enosburg Town Band Summer Concert Series, and many Young Tradition events have been canceled. Summer Music at Grace is reviewing its summer schedule. The 99th annual Champlain Valley Fair will wait until next summer. The Broadway Group announced that all Broadway theaters are dark.
Although many of our favorite activities won't happen this year, all the volunteers will stay as active as possible and this weekly column about the arts and entertainment around the region will continue to serve up live and almost live events and artists from around the region. MILTON--The Milton Artists' Guild Gallery is open. They have shields for the front desk, masks for employees, and a strict cleaning protocol. And they have "curbside pickup offerings." They continue to require masks and limit the number of people in the gallery to 15. MAG is not yet hosting classes in the gallery but will continue online classes. ST. ALBANS--The Artist in Residence features Jennifer Buckner on Facebook.
The art cooperative is open with paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, sculpture, lamps, pottery, folk art boxes, scarves, hats and more by 40 Franklin County and surrounding area artists. It is owned and operated by the artists and sponsors. PAWLET--Rutland County artists are getting drivers to slow down and smile. Photographer Steve and writer Eve Schaub, creating as EveNSteve, have built a drive-by art exhibit also visible on Vimeo.
MILTON--The Milton Artists' Guild will host Amazon Handmade to sell art on new platforms with instructor Caitlyn Kenney as part of their ongoing series of online seminars on Tuesday at 6 - 8 p.m. This online workshop will cover the basics of this sale portal from how to create an item for sale to tips and tricks for running a successful store. ST. ALBANS--The Saint Albans Museum hosts the SAMazing Race, a virtual scavenger hunt, beginning tomorrow. The event runs from July 3 - 10. SAMazing
Solve nine clues to identify local historic sites for a chance to win cash and prizes including a museum membership, books, and apparel. Tickets are $30 and include a clue kit, a customized finisher's certificate, SAM key chain, and a SAM Yowie. Send in a socially-distant selfie from outside any of the sites for a chance to win a bonus prize.

Thursday ON STAGE LIVE
SOUTH HERO--The Snow Farm Summer Concert Series is back at the Snow Farm Vineyard & Winery on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. Tonight's concert is SOLD OUT.
All concerts require advance tickets purchased through their website, starting the Friday before each concert. The live summer series offers a variety of music, from classical to jazz to swing to bluegrass to classic rock. Concerts are held every Thursday evening into September, weather permitting. Picnicking begins at 5 p.m. The Sausage Shack will be onsite. Wine and beer are available for purchase. Homemade Island Ice Cream will be scooping on concert nights. ST. ALBANS--Sean & Gerry bring their acoustic and electric rock live to the Mill River Brewery beergarten this evening at 5:30 p.m.
With Sean Nary, guitar, and Gerry Metivier, vocals, their shows are filled with original music and tunes from classic rock to modern rock, and pop.

ST. ALBANS--14th Star presents Fairfield singer-songwriter Troy Millette Live in the Beer Garden outdoors on Friday at 6 p.m. It is a free show with limited outdoor seating. Online reservations are required.
Mr. Millette's musical and often comedic show includes imaginative covers and originals and will feature his new single. I Miss You.
MILTON--Arrowhead Golf Course hosts Ryan Hanson for the Friday Night Live Music and Buffet on the deck on Friday at 6:30 p.m. The roast pork buffet starts around 7 p.m. Both run until 9 p.m.
The buffet costs $11 per person ($5 for each child). You don't have to be a member; the public is welcome.

ST. ALBANS--Twiggs presents Live Music This Weekend on Friday and Saturday evenings at 6:30 p.m. Reservations are necessary. Cooper was live in the reverse window on Friday on Facebook .

Tuesday SOUTH HERO--The Blue Paddle presents Carol Ann Jones and Jon Sochin on Tuesday at 6 p.m. They'll be there every Tuesday evening. Seating is very limited with lots of restrictions in place and reservations are a must. Call 802.372.4814.

Andrew Lloyd Webber will stream his musicals in the free YouTube series, The Shows Must Go On, every Friday at 7 p.m. for 48 hours. A new show begins tomorrow. Clips of famous performances and behind-the-scenes footage also appear on the channel beside the full shows.

Heliland Consort did an entire Zoom concert that is rebroadcast on Facebook.
Joe Weed shares his Waltz Violindo played by 31 musicians from across the U.S., Portugal, Spain, Italy, Colombia, Canada and Nepal, including our own Will Patton. It's on Facebook.
Shades of Yale sings Amen/We Shall Overcome in their Virtual Spring Jam 2020. Shades is an undergraduate a capella group at Yale University. It was founded in 1988 to sing music of the African diaspora and African-American tradition. It's on YouTube .
ONLINE--Alma Alexander's new novel, The Second Star, dropped yesterday in a "virtual book launch" on Facebook. Her live reading and question and answer session is available on Facebook. FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF
My punaholic friend made her name as a fantasy writer; "she began telling stories as a child and never stopped" which adds up to nearly three million words in more than 20 published books. Her novel, The Secrets of Jin-shei, has been published in 14 languages and her Young Adult Worldweavers series features New World magic. This is her first true science fiction novel.
