SWANTON--The Swanton Arts Council hosts the Harvest Handmade Craft Show in two locations at the Swanton Methodist Church and at Holy Trinity Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. MADE BY HAND

ST. ALBANS--The Artist in Residence Gallery hosts Trick or Treat in front of Gallery on Spooky Saturday from 12 - 1 p.m. SWEET ARTS ON THE STREET
The spooky afternoon of Halloween-inspired events takes over Downtown St. Albans with trick or treating on the sidewalks for as long as the candy lasts, plus bounce house, balloons, candy, hot chocolate, hot apple cider, and Pirate Man Dan, in Taylor Park, the Haunted Museum, Trunk or Treat at Saint Pauls UMC, a costume contest, and lots more.

ENOSBURG--The Opera House at Enosburg Falls presents the War of the Worlds on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and on Sunday with a special matinee at 2 p.m. GOING TO WAR
This production recreates the notorious October 1938 Mercury Theater of the Air broadcast complete with live actors, sound effects, and music. It shocked the world and made Orson Welles a star. And, inspired by the book by H. G. Wells, Robert H. Goddard invented the liquid fuelled rocket and then the multistage rocket, which led directly to the Apollo 11 Moon landing.

FAIRFIELD--Meta Strick continues the Artist in Residence-sponsored 2019 Sunday Afternoon Art Workshops with Seasonal Art Dolls at her studio on Sunday from 12 noon - 5 p.m. Materials and tools are provided (as well as a good time with great people). ART YOU CREATE

ST. ALBANS--Twiggs hosts Starry Lake with Paint Nite and artist Diane Kingston on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The event is SOLD OUT.

ST. ALBANS--14th Star Movie Nights return to The Room, on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Doors at 6 p.m. FILM
14th Star has a poll to choose the movie for the free Hallowen-themed screening. Thursday's choices are Hocus Pocus, The Goonies, and The Monster Squad. Find them on Facebook for more info and to vote for this month's featured presentation.
Come early to claim a seat and enjoy some movie trivia. There will be plenty of seating, or feel free to bring a blanket and pillow and get cozy on the floor. Free popcorn for all who attend, a full dinner menu from Grazers, and, of course, craft beer.
ST. ALBANS--Northwest Access Television presents Vermont’s 7th annual horror film festival. Northwest Nightmares offers bite-sized indie horror films made by local filmmakers on the Welden Theater's largest screen on Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. Doors at 6:30. Opening Night on Monday includes the Awards Party.
What horrors lurk among us in the our corner of Vermont? Channel 15 strongly encourages filmgoers to bring props and dress in their spookiest, Hollywood Halloween outfits. The party starts in The Room at 14th Star when the final film ends. Meet the filmmakers before they receive their awards.

Friday ON STAGE LIVE
ST. ALBANS--14th Star Brewing Company presents John Geno and Kevin Connelly's The Duel live on the taproom stage on Friday at 6 p.m.
Messrs. Geno and Connelly are well known in Franklin County as the founders of Summer Sounds favorites IncaHOOTs.
SHELDON--Fall Friday Night Music Series continues at the Abbey with Sean Jarvis live acoustic music from a man whose "guitar has been in [his] hands for as long as he can remember." In the Pub on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--The Old Foundry at One Federal presents the sweet harmonies and uncomplicated tunes of Dale & Darcy on Friday and Woedoggies lead singer Wylie Shipman on Saturday. Shows begin at 6:30 p.m.

MONTGOMERY--The season finale for the 2019 Celebration of Expressive Arts takes place at the INN on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. The event officially includes everything but dancing, but they have snuck in dance now and again. Come early for dinner; service begins at 5 p.m.
This month, the featured musicians are the Rocky Ridge String Band, the featured artist is wood craftsman Derek Bond, and the featured writer is storyteller Mike Pratt. The local artists, writers and musicians gather to share original and thought provoking work, curated and hosted by Bob and Becca Cummins.

BURLINGTON--Young Tradition Vermont and Burlington Violin Shop present Frankie Gavin at the Violin Shop on Monday at 6 p.m.
Mr. Gavin was born to a musical family in County Galway, Ireland. He started playing the tin whistle at age four, making his first T.V. appearance at seven. Since then, he has recorded 16 albums with De Dannan as well as a number of solo albums, and three collaborations, and has guested with The Rolling Stones and with Earl Scruggs.

ST. ALBANS--Singer/songwriter Troy Millette concludes his Fall Residency live at 14th Star Brewery on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
A New England "must-see artist," Mr. Millette has taken the Taproom Stage on a musical journey of imaginative covers, original songs, and stories every Tuesday this month. His latest album is Living With A Ghost.
SOUTH BURLINGTON--Higher Ground hosts the 21st annual Advance Music Acoustic Singer/Songwriter Contest on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Doors at 6 p.m.
Drawing seasoned musicians, as well as those who have never performed in public, the contest proves to be an eclectic and diverse event, showcasing many musical and lyrical styles, textures, and tastes. If you're not a musician, cheer on your favorite performer, while enjoying some great music and libations. The top three contestants from the three nights of semi finals will compete for a winner takes all prize package, including a Taylor acoustic guitar, a $500 award from the Rachel Bissex White Light Fund, and two full days of recording at Meadowlark Studio. Admission is free.
ST. ALBANS--Local writer Pat Esden will celebrate the release of her latest book, Things She's Seen, at The Eloquent Page on Spooky Saturday at 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF
The second of the Northern Circle Coven series finds the coven under investigation with its future in peril. The gothic suspense novel has strong romance and is "the second in a trilogy, so there is a lot more story to look forward to," bookstore owner Donna Howard said.
Ms. Esden spent her childhood exploring abandoned houses and old cemeteries. She still does. When not out on her own adventures, she can be found in her northern Vermont home writing stories about brave, smart women and the men who capture their hearts. She is a member of Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America, Romance Writers of America, and the League of Vermont Writers. Her short stories have appeared in Orson Scott Card's Intergalactic Medicine Show, the Mythopoeic Society's Mythic Circle literary magazine, and George H. Scithers' anthology Cat Tales.
