SWANTON--The Swanton Writer's Group will meet at the Swanton Free Public Library this evening at 6 p.m. Members can share progress and join in the discussion about longer projects and anything else about writing, reading, publishing, and more. WRITING

ST. ALBANS--The League of Vermont Writers hosts the Art of Writing: LVW Fall Program in the Bliss Room at the St. Albans Museum on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. with a bonus, free open mic at The Eloquent Page from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. (with a public open mic at 6 p.m.)
The theme is the power of visual media in storytelling. Gowri Savoor, D. B. Johnson, Corrina Thurston, and Ted Tedford will cover word building through art, words, and blogging, art through the moving story book, and more. The cost is $32 for members or $47 for non-members. MONTPELIER--The Northern Vermont Artists Association October Show at the T.W. Wood Gallery opens Saturday with a reception from 5 - 7 p.m. The show runs through October 31. ART ON THE WALLS
T.W. Wood Gallery is part museum and part gallery with pieces from a collection of world-renowned artists and exhibits of regional note. Artist Thomas Waterman Wood was Montpelier's native son. He headed both the National Academy of Design and the American Watercolor Society.
ST. ALBANS--The Grind Cafe offers the Fall Pumpkin Paint N Sip with Victoria Courtney Rosen Vining on Saturday at 11 a.m. ART YOU CREATE
tickets will be $20 when purchased ahead of time. $25 at the door. Paint lovely pumpkin on canvas. The cost is $20/person in advance or $25 at the door which includes the instructed painting session and a medium size drink of your choice from the Grind.
ST. ALBANS--Twiggs hosts Paint Nite: The Gold of Fall Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.

PLAN AHEAD--Swanton Arts Council hosts a unique, educational workshop at the Swanton Free Public Library on the first Thursday of every month.

SHELDON--Fall Friday Night Music Series continues at the Abbey with Phil Graziano live in the Pub on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
ALBURGH--S.A.S. brings "classic rock with a twist" back to the American Legion Post #60 on Friday at 7 p.m.
Scott Guptill, April Reynolds Begnoche, and Scott Belisle are energetic, seasoned musicians playing classic and pop rock songs from the 70s to the 90s who return for a last evening of dancing, mingling and cold drinks. "This will be our final show as April will be leaving Vermont and heading south. Hope you will be able to join us and send April off with a huge round of applause."

EAST BURKE--Mike's Tiki Bar presents the Nobby Reed Project on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Vermont's best known blues trio includes Eric Belrose, percussion, Walt Delaney on bass, and Mr. Reed on lead guitar and vocals.
SWANTON--The 2019 Swanton Sound Stage concludes with singer-songwriter-guitarist Seth Yacovone in a solo gig on the Village Green on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Mr. Yacovone took second place in Advance Music's Guitar Summit. He joined Phish on stage in Worcester, MA in the 1998 tour. Trey Anastasio sat in with the Seth Yacovone Band, in New York City. The Phish connection continues today.
Swanton Arts Council has showcased local musicians in a four-part series that took place once each month over the summer. Local musicians making music live are inspiring. The series has been funded by an Amplify Grant from RiseVT.

ST. ALBANS--14th Star Brewing Company presents Tim Brick Live on the taproom stage on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Winner of the 2017 Tammie Award for Best Country Album and IcoMA nominee for Best Country Male Artist two years running, Mr. Brick's music has "a soulful edge that isn't afraid to get rowdy."
Sunday
MONTGOMERY--The monthly Celebration of Expressive Arts continues at the INN on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. The event officially includes everything but dancing, but they have snuck in dance now and again. Come early for dinner; service begins at 5 p.m.
This month, the featured musicians are Will Patton and Dono Schabner, the featured artist is stone sculptor Michael Clookey, and the featured writer is Montgomery poet Sara Caldwell. The local artists, writers and musicians gather to share original and thought provoking work, curated and hosted by Bob and Becca Cummins.

ST. ALBANS--Singer/songwriter Troy Millette returns for a Fall Residency at 14th Star Brewery on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
A New England "must-see artist," Mr. Millette will takes you on a musical journey of imaginative covers, original songs, and stories on the Taproom Stage every Tuesday in October. His latest album is Living With A Ghost.
FAIRFIELD--To Bid or Not To Bid, the sixth annual fundraiser for the Bent Northrop Memorial Library features light bites and libations, live music by the Will Patton Trio, and all the fun of the silent and noisy auctions, all on Saturday at 6 p.m. FRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKSHELF

ST. ALBANS--The Eloquent Page hosts Open Mic Night for Writers based on the League of Vermont Writers workshop, on Saturday evening at 6 p.m.
Bring your writing, or short story to read, or simply attend to listen and enjoy great local writing. Writers do not need to be league members to participate. The evening is free and open to local writers and the general public.

Tuesday would have been artist Mary Harper's 100th birthday. An award winning and popular artist, she painted with oil, watercolor, and pastel. Her watercolors and scratch boards often portrayed landscapes and portraits from the mid-Atlantic dunes to the bright sub-tropical sun of Florida Keys to the soft colors of the southwest; they hang in collections across the country. She was a member of the Bougainvillea House Gallery, the Florida Keys Art Guild, and the All Arts Council of Franklin County. Click here to see some of her work. PASSAGES
She died of complications due to cancer in 2002.
