SWANTON--The Friends of Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge host the Wildlife Refuge Opening Reception and Art Show at the Refuge on Friday beginning at 5:30 p.m. FINDING THE BIRDS
Area artists and photographers are helping to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day and highlighting the birds of the Refuge and their habitats. The reception is a chance to meet and chat with the artists who are exhibiting their work. Light refreshments will be served. The art show continues through July 19.

ST. ALBANS---Mayor Tim Smith and St. Albans Community Arts have announced the second annual St. Albans Mayor's Photo Competition. The theme for the competition is "Lakes, Rivers, and Waterways." MAYOR'S PIX
15-20 photographs will be selected to be enlarged and displayed in Taylor Park throughout the fall.
All photos, including cellphone photography, are welcome. Submit 8x10 prints of your entries but the winning images must support enlargement to 20"x30". All photos and submissions must be received by June 30. There will be a viewing/voting reception at City Hall to choose the best photographs.

MILTON--The Milton Artists Guild hosts the monthly ArtBiz Peer Support Network at the MAG on Tuesday at 6 p.m. IN THE ARTS COUNCILS
Executive Director Jessie Swetel and artist Corrina Thurston host the APSN every third Tuesday of the month. The group offers a low key, friendly environment to seek wisdom from other business owners. Collectively the group "puts our brains together and answer" startup and operating questions. The evening is free and open to all who wish to attend. Bringing a snack isn't required, but highly encouraged.

ESSEX JUNCTION--On Tap offers Summer Sounds favorites Jenni Johnson and the Jazz Junketeers tonight at 7 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--Collins Perley Sports & Fitness Center hosts the Bark for Life with music, games, raffles, vendors, and refreshments on Friday at 5 p.m.
The American Cancer Society noncompetitive walk event is for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness for the fight against cancer. Supporters bring the community together to remember loved ones lost, honor survivors of all cancers, and raise money. Don't miss the puppy kissing both, disc dog demos and the 1-mile walk. ST. ALBANS--14th Star Brewing Company presents Justin LaPoint live on the taproom stage on Friday at 6 p.m.
The Burlington singer-songwriter blends folk, bluegrass, and the blues. He released his first album, Bear Country, inspired by a small town upbringing, dark forests, and big dreams in 2017.
EAST FAIRFIELD--The Meeting House on the Green kicks off its sixth Summer Evenings with Vermont Treasures concert series with the VT Bluegrass Pioneers on Friday at 7 p.m. Doors at 6:30.
The Pioneers is a quartet of famed Vermont bluegrass veterans, brothers Banjo Dan and Willy Lindner, Danny Coane, and Sam Blagden. featuring driving rhythms and dazzling harmonies.
Six years ago, the concert series was launched to help raise funds for the restoration of The Meeting House (and also because we love to support local musicians). Since then, the Meeting House has become a coveted venue with players and audiences alike discovering the magic of this small and intimate setting for some of the best music in northern Vermont.
Admission is a $10 suggested donation at the door. Light supper fare, beer and wine will be available throughout the evening. All proceeds from the concert series support the Meeting House Preservation Project. Click here for more info.

ST. ALBANS--Twiggs presents singer-songwriter AliT from Royalton on Friday and Zack Tyler and Jeff Lloyd of the Lloyd Tyler Band with folk, country, rock, blues and Americana on Saturday. Shows begin at 7 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--The Bayrats tear up Nelly's live on Saturday at 9 p.m.
Sammy Bombard, guitar and vocals; Jared Kenyon, guitar and vocals; Cameron Young, drums; and Eric Godin, bass hail from Franklin County and Grand Isle. The quartet blends alternative rock with funk and reggae. Zombie Jay and Jeremiah Bullfrog from 107.1 WPLA will hop across the water to hang out for the show.
Sunday
ST. ALBANS--The American Legion Post #1 hosts a Jamboree Benefit for our Veterans with Bob and Val, Southbound, the Nobby Reed Project, Phil Graziano, Roger Pidgeon, and more on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m. The Project will perform at 3 p.m.
"Come One, Come All" to an afternoon of music open to the public. Admission is $5 and the concession stand will be open.
Plan Ahead
SHELDON--The 17th annual Farewell Reunion returns to Grace Church on May 24 at 7 p.m. There is always a huge cast of superb performers; this year the concert features the Jason Anick Acoustic Trio and Beg, Steal or Borrow.
The benefit concert supports the Tom Sustic Fund, which supports families with children with life-threatening/life-altering conditions. The concert is presented by Young Tradition Vermont and Grace Church as part of the Summer Music at Grace Series.
Admission is a $20 suggested donation at the door. There are no advance tickets. Everyone is asked to bring a dessert to share at intermission. email for more info or click here for more info.
ENOSBURG--The Enosburg Falls Lions Club organizes the Vermont Dairy Festival which celebrates its 63rd anniversary is Thursday, May 30 - Sunday, June 2.
Dairy Days starts off right with the Vermont Dairy Festival Scholarship Pageant at the Opera House. Free live entertainment includes The Mountain Says No, Troy Millette, Dark Horse, Pirate Dan, Gypsy Wind, T Bone, Marko the Magician and Hypnotist, Buddy the Clown, Leah Gervais, the Nobby Reed Project, Chris and Erica, the Tim Brick Band, the Johnny Cash Tribute Show, Chasing 440, and the ever popular Cow Plop Bingo.

ENOSBURG--The Opera House at Enosburg Falls will host a Summer Musical Information Night and Open House for the Opera House summer musical, the Music Man, at the House on Friday at 7 p.m. CALL FOR THESPIANS
The session is a chance to meet the production team and learn about the story, the characters, and the music as well as the audition and rehearsal schedule for this classic show. To help people learn about the show, they will also show part of the movie with Robert Preston.
This year the production will have a different format for auditions. Each audition day will start with three audition workshops where participants can work with the production team on the music, choreography and dialogues that will make up their audition. Following the workshops, participants will be divided into small groups to perform an audition consisting of singing, dancing and dramatic reading for the production team panel.
Audition Day 1 will be held at EFHS Auditorium on Saturday at 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. with workshops at 10 a.m., followed by auditions in small groups at 11:30 - 1 p.m
Audition Day 1 will be held at the Opera House on Sunday at 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. with workshops at 2 p.m. followed by auditions in small groups at 3:30 - 5 p.m.
Attendance at the audition workshops is not required, but is encouraged. This is an opportunity to work with our production team to perfect your performance of the audition materials. Click here for suggested musical pieces dialogues for the audition.
