SOUTH BURLINGTON--Higher Ground presents 8 0 8 4 with special guests The Conniption Fits on Saturday at 8 p.m. THE FINAL VERMONT SHOW EVER
This is it, the last chance to party with the legends as they celebrate their 36 year career.
The Billboard and international award winning musicians have performing over 4,000 live shows including Summer Sounds. The team has lead vocalist Randy Smith and Grammy nominated guitarist-producer Andre' Maquera, bassist Frank Barnes, drummer Gary Spaulding, and guitarist-vocalist Ry Malroux. They have shared the stage with Aldo Nova, Toto, April Wine, Warrant, Edgar Winter, Blue Oyster Cult, Henry Lee Summer and more. One of my own favorite 8 0 8 4 memories is Jerry Mercer sitting behind the curtain, matching Spud beat for beat at Floodstock.
The New Hampshire Conniption Fits perform all over New England. They have toured in California, Arizona, Idaho, Utah, North and South Carolina and MTV, the ESPN X-Games, and Vans Triple Crown on CBS have featured their original songs.

ST. ALBANS--St. Albans Community Arts hosts its monthly Community Arts MeetUp in City Hall on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The gathering will discuss new and ongoing business, meet new people, and discuss any creative ideas that crop up. IN THE ARTS COUNCILS

SWANTON--The Swanton Arts Council Art Journaling Group meets at the Swanton Free Public Library on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Meetings will be held at the library on the second Tuesday of every month. Art journals, junk journals, art pages and more are on the table and make for fun for artists, writers, scrap bookers, and more. The group meets to share ideas and to take time to create. If you need supplies to get started, check out the library's Makerspace or email for more info.

MORRISVILLE--Moogs has DylanFest featuring Seth Yac's World Gone Wrong String Band at 7 p.m. The All Bob Dylan Open Mic Night begins at 5 p.m.
SOUTH HERO--The Blue Paddle Bistro presents Carol Ann Jones in a special solo singer-songwriter performance in the main dining room on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Seating is limited and reservations are a must. Call 802.372.4814

ST. ALBANS--14th Star Brewing Company presents Chris & Erica live on the taproom stage on Friday at 6 p.m. Since winning the 14th Star Open Mic Challenge, the local duo has been in high demand with a blend of acoustic rock, country, and pop.
SHELDON--The Abbey presents The Aardvark 2.0 on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
When singer-songwriter Mitch Watson and lead guitarist, Donovan Delabruere of the NEK jam band, The Aardvark condense down into an unplugged acoustic duo, their sound goes a little bit off the beaten path, but it is laced with influences like Dylan folk, extended Dead/Pink Floyd ethereal rock, some Allman blues, and The Band's country bluegrass, all in a bunch of originals.
ST. ALBANS--84 Main Grill & Bar gets fiercely Boom City funny with Suzan Ambrose, Melyssa Ardelle, and Carl Sonnefeld on Friday at 9 p.m. Boom City members Jenna, Bryan, Eric, Tami, and Noel will also help stretch the laughter muscles.

ST. ALBANS--Twiggs presents Texas-born singer-songwriter Shane Murley Band on Friday and expressive songwriter Stefani Capizzi on Saturday. Shows begin at 7 p.m.

Plan Ahead
EAST FAIRFIELD--The Meeting House on the Green kicks off its sixth Summer Evenings with Vermont Treasures concert series with the VT Bluegrass Pioneers on May 17.
The exciting new band united four famed Vermont bluegrass veterans: brothers Banjo Dan and Willy Lindner, Danny Coane, and Sam Blagden. Join us for this high-octane quartet featuring driving rhythms and dazzling harmonies.
Admission is a $10 suggested donation at the door. All shows in this series will start at 7 p.m. with doors at 6:30. Light supper fare, beer and wine will be available throughout the evening. All proceeds from the concert series support the Meeting House Preservation Project.
SHELDON--The 17th annual Farewell Reunion returns to Grace Church on May 24 at 7 p.m. There is always a huge cast of superb performers; this year the concert features the Jason Anick Acoustic Trio and Beg, Steal or Borrow.
The benefit concert supports the Tom Sustic Fund, which supports families with children with life-threatening/life-altering conditions. The concert is presented by Young Tradition Vermont and Grace Church as part of the Summer Music at Grace Series.
Admission is a $20 suggested donation at the door. There are no advance tickets. Everyone is asked to bring a dessert to share at intermission. Email or click here for more info.
The arts and cultural sector contributed almost $764 billion to the U.S. economy in 2015, the latest year for which data is available. That's more than the impact of agriculture or transportation, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. CREATIVE ECONOMY
The $764 billion generated by the arts is 4.2% of the U.S. GDP. Some 4.9 million Americans worked in the sector, earning over $370 billion.
