ART FOR YOUR BRAIN

BARRE--Studio Place Arts hosts What is Art? a "highly visual" VHC discussion, on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Have you ever thought to yourself, "I could do that!" when looking at an abstract in a museum or gallery? Or maybe you've wondered why collectors would pay millions for artworks that seem simplistic, bizarre, or just plain ugly? By imagining art history as an ongoing conversation, Professor David Mills of Champlain College explores ways of encountering art as more than just subjective preference. This highly visual presentation provides new ways to interact with what we find in museums and galleries. Call Sue Higby (802.479.7069) for more info.

IN THE ARTS COUNCILS

ST. ALBANS--St. Albans Community Arts is looking for input. Folks in City Hall are exploring an ongoing local arts event similar to the Art Along the Hudson Guide. Several Hudson Valley municipalities have community days that are all about keeping art (and dollars) local.
Is this something you'd like to see around here? Find them on Facebook for more info or drop in with your thoughts.
