FRANKLIN COUNTY--The Big Music Weeks of Summer continue as some of our friends play multiple gigs. Summer Sounds celebrates 28 years of concerts in Highgate. There are shows in Burlington, Enosburg Falls, Grand Isle, Highgate, Milton, Morrisville, Sheldon, South Burlington, South Hero, and St. Albans. BIG MUSIC WEEKS
HIGHGATE--O.C. McCuin and Sons, the All Arts Council, and the Town of Highgate continue 28 years of Summer Sounds concerts at home in Highgate with the return of the Hokum Bros. Band in the free Summer Sounds concert on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. NO CHAINSAWS WILL BE DAMAGED
Stick, Uncle Al, and cousin Gus plus two brothers to be named later are a five piece group with catchy songs who, despite our entreaties, steadfastly refuse to juggle chainsaws and harmonicas during the show. Their lyrics speak of their own personal true-life experiences woven through Americana. Vaudeville Americana. Rare and original, the Brothers sing and patter and paddle their way into inspired silliness and offer enough sly satire and social commentary to insure you'll be wearing your happy face long after the show is over. Band members include Stick, uke and vocals; Uncle Al, electric tambourine and vocals; Gus, accordions, licorice, vocals; as well as the upside-down unknown Bassman and sousaphone player; and the lost drummer behind the monument.
Stop by the Summer Sounds Social in the Park, starting at 6 p.m. just before the concert. It's a chance to visit with friends and eat hearty.
The Summer Sounds concerts are sponsored by the Town of Highgate and the All Arts Council, and underwritten by Chevalier Drilling Co. Inc, Desorcie's Market, Drummac Septic Service, La Quinta Inn and Suites of St. Albans, O. C. McCuin and Sons, and Ray's Extrusion Dies and Tubing.
The community based All Arts Council brings the performing arts to northwestern Vermont. The concerts are always on Sunday evenings, always at 7 p.m., always in Highgate Municipal Park, and always free. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair for the outdoor family music and festivities. ST. ALBANS--Twiggs hosts Paint Nite: Dragonflies at Dusk on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ART FOR THE WALLS

JEFFERSONVILLE--The Cambridge Arts Council hosts the 10th annual Festival of the Arts on Saturday at 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. ART ON THE WALLS
73 artists are participating including Toby Fulwiler, David Juaire, Martha Ohliger, and Sharon Radke. The Festival of the Arts was born in 2009 to showcase local art galleries, artists, and musicians. The festival keeps it close to home by supporting local artists, musicians and restaurants.

MONTGOMERY--The Montgomery Center for the Arts hosts its quarterly meeting at MCAKelton Hall this evening at 6 p.m. IN THE ARTS CENTERS
After the very busy summer, they "have some great new plans for Fall."
ST. ALBANS--St. Albans Community Arts hosts its monthly Community Arts MeetUp in air conditioned City Hall on Tuesday with a Board Meeting at 6 p.m. and the Creative Meetup at 6:30. The gathering will discuss new and ongoing business, meet new people, and discuss any creative ideas that crop up.

ST. ALBANS--Twiggs presents the hope and enthusiasm and peace of Django Soulo this evening, the "lusty, inventive" Tony Whedon Trio on Friday, and the eclectic Jeff & Gina on Saturday. Shows begin at 7 p.m.
Dave's Ice Cream Social returns on Monday with Jeremy's special ice cream cart. The price is $5.00 and all proceeds go to Franklin County Area Cancer Network.

ST. ALBANS--14th Star Brewing Company presents the Owl Stars live on the taproom stage on Friday at 6 p.m.
The Americana duo of Andrew James and Elizabeth Patterson returns with sweet country rock sounds influenced by Beatles, Counting Crows, and Bob Marley. Rumor has it that Steve Gagner and Peter Shumlin have sat in with the group.
MILTON--Arrowhead Golf Course hosts Ryan Sweezey for the Friday Night Live Music and Buffet on Friday at 6:30 p.m. The teriyaki chicken buffet starts around 7 p.m. Both run until 9 p.m.
The buffet costs $11 per person ($5 for each child). You don't have to be a member; the public is welcome. Be sure to come early, usually around 6, to get a good seat.
Friday-Saturday
ST. ALBANS--Cozy O'Donnell rocks the Music, Brews & BBQ at Mill River Brewing on Friday and the Growlers take over on Saturday. Shows start at 7 p.m.
If it's got some soul and some horns, Cozy's got it. The Growlers play no-nonsense, high-energy acoustic and electric Americana rock & roll.
Saturday
SOUTH BURLINGTON--Higher Ground hosts the 8th annual Girls Rock Vermont Showcase in the Showcase Lounge on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Doors at 12 noon.
Girls Rock is a one-week summer day camp. Campers learn how to play musical instruments, write songs, perform their own music, and participate in workshops and activities.
Admission is $5 with kids 12 and under free. Click here for tickets.
BURLINGTON--Carol Ann Jones reprises The Power of Music: Twelve Souls in Song in a powerful one-woman show in the First Congregational Church on Saturday at 4 p.m.
The show centers on a dozen senior citizens from the over 180 people in her journal to show music's power to connect with those beyond memory's reach. She tells their story and then sings their favorite songs. She plans to perform her show in all 14 counties in Vermont to bring awareness to the organization.
Admission is $15 (or more if you want) which goes directly to Music and Memory. Ms. Jones will collecting used iPods. The proceeds benefit Music and Memory to provide iPods for senior citizens who can use music to bring back some of their memories.
ST. ALBANS--Nelly's Pub & Grill has justified having a Mid Summer Bash with Justice on Saturday at 9:30 p.m.
The band returns to the railroad city to rock out with the hometown crowd. The new Nelly's has an all new bar, stage, and seating area on the club side.
Sunday
GRAND ISLE--Island Arts presents the Vermont Jazz Ensemble at the Grand Isle Lake House on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Grounds at 5:30 for picnicking. The 17-member instrumental group swings in the Big Band tradition. Their repertoire also includes Latin, rock, fusion, and pop. ImSabai Thai Cuisine will be on site with Thai food for sale.
Admission is $20 in advance or $25 at the door; children 12 and under are free. Click here for tickets and more info.
HIGHGATE--Summer Sounds continues the 28th summer of music with the return of the Hokum Brothers in the Highgate Municipal Park on Sunday at 7 p.m. O.C. McCuin and Sons presents this evening of chainsaw juggling and other music.
Tuesday
SOUTH HERO--Carol Ann Jones hosts Music in the Meadow at the Blue Paddle Bistro on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Ms. Jones will perform and then hold an Open Mic ever Tuesday, weather permitting, through the summer.
There are tables and chairs outside but it can get pretty busy, so bring your own chair or blanket or come early to get a table or chairs. Email to sign up.
ENOSBURG FALLS--The Enosburg Town Band plays a weekly free summer concert in Lincoln Park on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Bring a chair or a blanket to enjoy an hour long concert under the stars under the direction of Alisa Martin. Performances will continue on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. through August 21.
Wednesday
MORRISVILLE--The Wednesday Night Live summer music series continues with Jim Charonko in Oxbow Riverfront Park on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The series continues each week through August 22. There will be a rotating mix of food vendors every week, from American barbecue to Nepalese staples.
ST. ALBANS--The Bayside Pavilion hosts the Starline Rhythm Boys in a regular summer Wednesday gig at 6 p.m.

ST. ALBANS--Sean Jarvis hosts Open Mic Night at Durty Nelly's Irish Pub on Wednesday starting at 6:30 p.m. Show off your talent; everyone is welcome to grab the mic and perform any Wednesday evening on the Tavern side.
ST. ALBANS--The Citizens Concert Band continues the Downtown Summer Concert Series in the E.A. Loomis Bandshell in Taylor Park on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The Traveling Canteen will serve food this evening.
Admission is free.
SHELDON--Every Wednesday the Abbey throws a Beach Party with music, drink specials, and prizes, after the Volleyball, starting about 8:30 p.m.
LABELS FOR LIBATIONS (August 17)--Magic Hat Brewing calls Vermont artists for label design submissions for the 7th annual contest; the winning design will appear on 32-ounce growlers of next year's Humdinger™ Art Hop Ale. Magic Hat, SEABA and last year’s winner will narrow the submissions down to a final five. Then, the art-hopping public will choose their favorite design during the South End Art Hop. $1,500 grand prize, a can label deal, and more. No Fee. ENOSBURG--The Opera House at Enosburg Falls will hold auditions for Neil Simon's Rumors at the House on Sunday at 2 p.m. and again on Wednesday at 7 p.m. CALL FOR THESPIANS
The play starts with Ken Gorman and his wife, Chris Gorman, at the 10th anniversary party of Charlie Brock, the Deputy Mayor of New York, and his wife, Myra. The evening goes awry when the friends arrive. All the kitchen staff is gone, Myra is missing, and Charlie has shot himself in the head. This is a 10-person cast, five men, five women, ranging in ages from 30s to 60s. Find them on Facebook for more info.
